Melee Weapons Shows on Back or Waist.
Adding a visible scabbard would be one thing (and has its difficulties). Making the weapon animation use that scabbard, ESPECIALLY with different animations depending on whether the weapon is worn at waist or back, adds a whole higher order of difficulty.
My scrapper doesn't need an AoE. She IS an AoE.
Currently, the character models don't have the anchor points for this.

Head to Jay's Costume Request Thread in the Dev Corner. He reads suggestions there and pretty much ignores them elsewhere.
Thanks for reply's. ill be sure to try to draw jay's attention to this. I'm probably not the first obviously not the first to suggest this but do you guys like the idea anyway? if u do try and get word out this is a MUST! =D
I wouldn't mind it, but neither do I feel it is a must.

lol ok ok its not a must but it should have been done just by default i belive.
Easier said than done.
Our characters have no real back connection point, which is where a back sheath would go.
To see what I mean by this, if you have the jump jets power (not the jet pack or zero-g pack, but the jump jets that came with the Good vs. Evil box, you can try this out for yourself.
Make a character that is as small as you can make it. Move all of the sliders down to their minimums. Now, go into the game, and activate the jump jets. Where does it attach to your character? Answer: it doesn't. It hovers in mid-air behind them.
Now, do the exact opposite. Make a character with all of the sliders turned up to maximum. Enter the game, and turn on the jump jets. Where do they show up? It's about halfway into your character's back.
The same thin would happen with back sheaths, unless more work was done on the character models. Can it be done? Sure. Is it harder than making a new set of gloves or a new weapon model? Yes.

I was thinking when a hero or villain draws out his/her sword or gun where does it come from??? I was wondering why dont they have a holster or something to put there weapons into and so its visible. there can be different holster costume parts and ect. if you don't like the holster idea please think about making weapons visible on either the characters back or waist (should have choice based on player).
Think about this!!

Wow, that link kinda sucks. The term Hammerspace was around long before anime-girls were wielding hammers.

The lack of an anchor point is a curse and boon all in 1.
Boon: By using a simple model with scaled polygons over top (instead of scaling the model), the math done is much simplier and save cycles for eye candy.
Curse: As mentioned above, there are no hardpoints on the outside of the model by default.
Note: The weapon models are effects, not polygonal additions. Weapons are not "droppable". If we were to get scabbards or holsters that were actual pieces added to the model, not ad hoc additions, that would open a whole new level of effects and animiations. None of this would be easy to do and would require some serious low level engine grinding. Might be easier to drop a new engine in vs modding the current one.

Actually, I think they could be done in a reasonable ammount of time. As the Cyborg 'combat aura' pack proved, you can have graphics effects based off of whether or not you are in combat. The scabards could be costume peices that go on the belt or back respectively, and starting combat with blades drawn makes the 'sword' part of it disappear as its drawn. Like the wings, and the capes, they're certainly doable... but likely time consuming.
Like all things in this game, it takes time to make, and BABs is probably already cooking up something even better. And this is a system that would only effect 6 or 7 powersets as opposed to all of them (like power customization will), so I don't imagine it being a high priority for the time being. It'd still be cool though.

I like this source, with the mention of the TARDIS and TOON shows it's credibility. It's known that the Doctor had pockets that housed quite a bit of useless stuff, including the popular banana :-). I know in Star Trek Elite Force they actually explained the Hammer Space via mini Borg based transporters to produce the weapons and gear when the player reached for the hips. You know now there will have be a new rogue market like Pocket D but in Hammer Space!!!

The Doctor has also pulled useful stuff out of there, like the remote control to the killer Christmas ornaments.

Of course, the actual term wasn't used within any show until long after people had been using it. IIRC, the first time I heard the term was watching some Walt Disney short with some Daffy Duck spinoff scientist who was explaining how cartoon physics works (like how you can't fall until you notice you've run off the edge of the cliff)

O rly?
The weapons are just effects. Yes they are technically made of polygons, but they exist no more than flaming hands do. You cannot drop your weapon.

It is an effect drawn on top of your character model, not an independant object added to game.

Actually, they're a bit of both. The movement and the actual summoning of the weapon (re: making it visible) are an effect whereas the actual appearance of the weapon is, itself, a costume option like every other costume option (albeit only visible at certain times). But then again, by a certain logic, everything we see is either a texture or an effect.
