Applied Colorization of Energized Emanations
First thing I thought of was recoloring FF to be the same color as Psi. Wanted to do a FF/Psi def for awhile and have FF be a manifestation of their Psi abilities but couldn't get past the color difference. Also hope to be able to do the same with emp for my emp/psi def. Hoping power pools will be included in this. Always wanted to change the color of Teleport.
I just hope there's an option to turn off colour customisation client side.
The two the first leaped to my mid have already been mentioned. "Gem" armors - ruby, sapphire, emerald, amethyst, etc. - from ice armor, and tinting stuff black to suppress its appearance as much as possible.
I'm just looking to do more mundane stuff.
1) Color the effects on all my villainside electicity using characters blue-white or yellow-white instead of red.
2) Color the energy blasts of my Energy/Plant corruptor blue-green so they look more like water blasts.
That's all off the top of my head.

In the event that this goes beyond simple color selection, I would like to change the effect from Scirocco's PPP power on my Mind/Fire dom to look more like a "fire shield" than electric armor.

The black-is-nearly-invisible will make me much happier about ice/fire armor.

Unless they fixed that part, too. Hrm, there's an idea. Would an invisible power be considered an exploit?
There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

IIRC you used to have to spend points to remove the visual effects of your powers in the PnP version of Champions, so yeah, maybe; at least in PvP?

Five years of people going out of their minds for customization, and it finally arrives to a resounding 'meh'.

Please realize that a number of factors are involved in this.
1) We haven't seen Power Customization. What we have seen is Power Colorization. Not the same thing. You tell me that my wizard can use a wand instead of the Tri-corder for the Medicine Pool, that my Tech Energy Blaster can choose a blaster rifle to have all of his blasts emanate from, instead of having them come out of his hands like he's a wizard or something, then I'll go crazy. When I can choose different Knock Out Blow and Energy Transfer animations, when my Gun Drone sits on my shoulder auto-firing at targets around me, when my Super Speed uses a motorcycle, my Flight a magic carpet or my permanent costume item Jet Pack, then I'll go coo-coo for coco puffs! Until then... colorization, meh.
2) While colorization is cool and all, what we really want is Power Customization. Picking your own animations and effects. We haven't seen that, and most of us have learned not to believe that it will happen until we see it happening on the live servers. We've been told, "It can't be done!!" too many times and we've been lead to believe that something will happen (Issue 13: All your base are belong to us!, Cathedral of Pain Trial, City Vault, I'm sure you all can think of a few others) too many times only to see it die on the vine before it ever makes it to the live servers. Because of this many of us find it difficult to get all excited about anything, but most especially not about something this vague and far into the future.
3) As you said, it's been 5 years. Many of the people who fell desperately in love with this game and then clamored on the forums for Power Customization have moved on. They're no longer here to comment. Many of us that are left have given up hope of ever seeing Power Customization. Many of us are too new to remember it ever being discussed on the forums beyond: "Devs said it can't happen. Lrn2 search n00b!! IBTL +1"
I think that I speak for at least some of us when I say that we do not believe that this tiny little sneak-peak is all that there will be in Issue 16. But! Until we see a bit more. Until we get some concrete information our reaction is just going to be meh.
If for no other reason than we don't want to be disappointed yet again.

I'm extremely psyched, actually. The trouble is, we've been told for so long that this was too much work/couldn't happen (Even just basic recoloring was supposedly too much manpower), that I stopped thinking about "What if X were recolored as Y?" ages ago. It's literally going to take a complete shift in mindset for me after five years.
That said, I love the Gem armor idea. That one never even occured to me. I also just started a new Ill/Rad 'troller, an homage in spirit (Inspired by) Project Alice of the Resident Evil universe. Nothing like her in personality or anything, but it would be great to unify Illusion and Radiation's color scheme to something definitively psychic, preferably more subdued than bright-[censored] neon green on the latter
As long as my brute no longer has to have the "pink pom poms of doom", I will be happy. I would love to tint my energy melee a deep red to match my Mu Lightning PPP blast, and alter my WP "auras" to a matching color as well.

Give people a silver lining, and they'll find a dark cloud to attach it to.
at this point the only thing i'm thinking I will do is turn my all my characters that use Pink pom poms of doom to a blue, have all my villians that use electricity of some kind to the matching color of the heroes electric blast. and my dark/regen scrapper will have his regen effect turned black or dark grey, which ever looks better.
most of my other characters have had their costumes coloroed to match the color of the effect of their powers

And there's a new line for my sig.

I suppose that is a good point. I did think that 'X would look like Y if only I could tint it' would be more prevalent. Rad would make a good swarm-control tinted black. Gravity makes good 'Energy field control' if you tint it blue.

I was just thinking that if you tinted things around the black/gray range, you just might get something that was near invisible on most mission maps. We'll just have to see what we get to play with.

If the colorization ends up anything like way auras are currently, then all the people wanting an "almost invisible" option should be pretty happy. All the people wanting a "black" one probably won't be, though.

Which they definitely wont too. So many people are wanting black lightsabers in SW:TOR even though canon pretty much denies it even being possible with how lightsabers work already.
