Thirded! (is that a word?)

I may very well be wrong, but color customization while nice, seems like something were the "Shiny" will wear out quickly.
Seems like all the work hours spent on it might have gone elsewhere.

Yeah... don't get me wrong, I love the idea of power customization (depending on how it's implemented anyways). However, it'd be nice to be able to try new, interesting things instead of doing the same stuff just with different colors. Who knows? Maybe we'll get both.

I've been hoping to throwing green fireballs since I started playing CoH four and a half years ago. That said, it'd probably be the only change I'd make... to one character. So, yay?

Other than that, I'd LOVE to play as the fire tank/fire blaster hybrid I made in the AE mission that the devs broke by taking out the Crey cloning map.

*sigh*

I doubt the entire issue will just be that. I'd frankly be amazed if the issue didn't at least have some new story arcs or a new TF or something.

Actually, it probably wouldn't have. Color Customization would have involved mostly programming work. New content would require a far bigger contribution from designers and artists. But hopefully there is more to the update than the customization.

It's been my experience that the more recent issues had a "look at some of what we're doing in the next issue!" announcement and more was revealed as time went on. However, that isn't really the case for I15 - other than some minor QoL tweaks, we're getting a buggy and poorly-written TF and SF (at least the SF was when I tried it, I haven't done the TF), some costume stuff (woo), and that's about it.

I have a feeling that with such a "huge" feature as power customization (I say that because I know how much time it likely took to get working, and because a lot of people have been asking for it), there won't be a lot more in I16 worth going on about, which just makes it a glorified lightshow. I am not going to rule out any later-revealed features (I13 and I14 were certainly full of those, no matter how bad some were) but I guess I wouldn't be surprised if power customization was the "big thing" in I16.

To be fair, things on the test server should be expected to be buggy. I'm not saying that it won't have problems when it goes live, nor that there haven't been instances of exactly that happening recently... but don't lay down the buggy complaint until it is live... it's on Test to fix the bugginess.

Issue 16: Power Customization?
(That is a Fire/Fire Dominator or a Fire Controller with the Fire EPP)

Even though this has been at the top of the 'We Want' List for a loooooooooooong time. I eagerly await the 'mehs' and embittered 'it's just to bad the Dev's ruined the game' posts.

Honestly, it's little more than new costuming options. As a feature, it's fairly cool, and I look forward to have the blackest imps possible; however, as the anchor feature of an entire issue, it really lowers the bar for the studio's exapnsions. (if it is indeed the case that customization is the meat of i16, i'll be surprised and far, far beyond disappointed.)

Sure, I can color my Fire Blaster's attacks green and pretend it's a Rad Blaster, but it's not really the same thing, is it?

[/ QUOTE ]

It actually sounds cooler than regular Rad. That is, if you could color the main blast color an atomic yellow-green and the edges of each blast darker green. Man I really want this now...

This is exactly why I'm so glad I'm not a Dev. I agree with Flea and Darkbridger on this, but I also know how many people think power customization is the be-all, end-all, top of the list desire. I don't really care what color my powers and while this addition is neat, I really couldn't care less and haven't really understood why it's such a big deal to so many.

I can't imagine how frustrating it is to be a game developer and try to prioritize things to make so many people people happy when they have such varied interestes and desires and I don't even understand them. I will never get, for example, why anyone would want a "shoulder kitten." Seriously.
