Claws 4 Brutes
[ QUOTE ]
Perhaps you shouldn't read posts if you don't want to deal with a little negativity. Or should we all be happy-happy joy-joy over things we dislike?
[/ QUOTE ]
What re you talking about? Perhaps you should go back and figure out why I responded to him and then try again. Right now, you're looking foolish since I'm not the one who decided negativity was a problem. I just find it ironic he QQs about me disgreeing with Claws but has been negative about I15, etc.
[ QUOTE ]
Also: I'd rather have a high level SS or SM brute than a Fire brute. The issues with resistance are absurdly over-exaggerated.
[/ QUOTE ]
All I said was another highly resisted damage type is not something I want to play.
Then whats-his-face decided to reply to me and decided to derail the thread. I merely stated I thought claws was a lame port. To each their own.

claws would be easy to bring over
Focus - half the range 40 to 20
and 75% KD
Spin - move to 26 up the damage
Eviscerate - move to 6 low damage
Shockwave - remove and replace with ST attach that does superior damage with 2.0 to 2.33 cast
Btw dual blades has 1 pbaoe and 2 cones just like claws
[/ QUOTE ]
Those are NOT very good suggestions.
There is absolutely NO reason why Focus's range should be halfed. None at all.
There is also no reason why Evis would nead a damage reduction either.
[/ QUOTE ]
All the ranged attacks brutes / tankers get have a long cast time and focus is short. I dont see them giving us a fast cast and recharge ranged attacked.
If evis is a lvl 6 attack lower damage is called for but if you read it to make for spin at 32 it needs a damage increase to comp. Now if the dev well give brutes a fast cast and recharge ranged attacked that would be cool but i dont see it happening

if evis gets a -dmg, then at the end game what lvl you got it at wont matter, all that will be important is that it's a low dmg long animation attack of suck.
i say just remove it, something's gotta go for taunt any way.
lethal gets the short end of the stick for damage, but in this case i think its made up for with animation speed. only match for it in fury building would be DM when you get gloom <shadow punch, smite, gloom, boxing, lather, rinse, repeat, profit>
claws could get that kinda fury gen by itself, methinks...

...and along comes Clouded once again, like clockwork, to bring negativity to the land and start pointless arguments, only to bicker back and forth for many, many posts and derail yet another thread is his endless tirade of forum absurdity.

Perhaps you shouldn't post on public forums if disagreeing with you gets your feelings hurt. Not everyone likes Claws and pointing out the highly resisted damage type is not off topic. It's very much relevant and a point of discussion.
And you gotta be the biggest hypocrit I know, did you even read your own posts in the I15 Beta forums? 90% Negative.
All you seem to do lately is whine about COH.
[/ QUOTE ]
no it's not. claws does just fine being lethal. see: rikti pylon test results thread

This.
I have both EM and Fire brutes at level 50. Both do decent damage and neither of them are terrible. I just like SS better mainly because I can kill large groups faster while killing single targets at about the same speed, at the same time mitigating much of the incomming damage.
Now back to claws. Brutes and Scrappers have similar damage when brutes are 85ish fury. So unless the ranged attacks are some how overpowered on scrappers, they would not be overpowered on brutes either.
Some folks just don't get it. They see sets as damage type and numbers....don't care at all what it looks or feels like. I don't bother trying to convert people like this, most of all when they are trolls that just want to start arguments and take over threads. So let's hope none of those type of folks post in this thread......
Anyways, I think Brutes will get the same version of Focus as widows got, same animation with no range, but probably still KD. I think Shockwave might actually stay, but with a longer recharge and KD instead of KB. Spin will likely stay as is, but might be moved to lvl 18, and unfortunetly Eviscerate will most likely stay and be a staple of the set.
I don't care for the Strike animation, and I hate Eviscerate. So as long as Focus, Slash, Swipe, Follow Up, and Shockwave keep thier animations and a good combination of End use, damage, and recharge to make a good attack chain....I'll be a very happy camper.
If you don't care about the looks and don't care about the feel what do you care about? The looks? Is that the only thing left?

Don't Pylons have the same resistance to all attacks?
edit: And while I'd play claws just to have a brute with the primary, I've tried it scrapper side and it feels rather anemic. Not enough screen shake or 'whooom' special effects. I also find spines terrible and I don't think I'd make a spine brute even if it meant not having a brute of that primary.
Weight training: Because you'll never hear someone lament "If only I were weaker, I could have saved them."
Conceptually, Claws is an excellent idea for a Brute. HOWEVER. I feel they would be far too overpowered. The attack rates would need to be slowed down in favor of more raw power. I think it'd have to be a different set, one that involved less... quickness. If it was a Scrapper port... no. That would be WAY too good. Maybe a sort of Broadsword to Katana thing. Same basic moves, but slower.

People have already computed everything on their spreadsheets. Claws/ on a brute would do a dps really close to Claws/ on a scrapper. Not much a difference there. And Claws is far from the top for scrappers single target dps unless you get more than crazy recharge (see Billzbubba spreadsheet for a comparison).
@Jacobi : lol, been a long time since I havent read about Claws brutes from you. The waiting must be painful I see
I vote for any proliferation we could have, the sooner the better. Rerolling new toons, trying new things is what makes me stay in the game. So, /signed.

Check your cast times bub. In reality claws is no fast than most other sets that Scrappers and/or brutes have. I know it feels fast, but your fears are unfounded and not even an issue.
claws would give brutes the two things they crave most: fast(ish) recharge on attacks, and built-in endurance reduction(ishes) on attacks.
i mean, why the hell not give brutes claws? it's not like the stalkers are making use of 'em, and that is coming from a claws/ stalker.

Current Project: Hard Goodbye, StJ/Nin
Retired: Blitzwulf, Claws/Nin (50); Perdition's Blade, Night Widow (50)
but they have to look like the claws on the freakshow swipers

That would be an awesome option for all claws sets on any AT.
Or natural claws, like wolfs, bears or cats.
Catgirls will love it
BaB already said there is no way to make the current models open their hands to use finger claws....or that it was to much work. Either way, he said it won't be happening
I have nothing against Claws and think they should be proliferated eventually. I'd just like every other possible set to be proliferated first. Subjectively, Claws have no appeal to me on Brutes. I want something that goes thump and makes it feel like I shook the earth when I whacked someone upside the head.

Just out of curiousity, do you dislike Dual Blades as well? Some folks seem to carry on this notion that brutes are all about SMASH! and shouldn't have sets like DB, Claws, Katana, Broadsword, ect. I don't share this belief obviously, just curious if that is where your coming from...
Archtypes are an unfortunate limit to put on characters IMO, but I'd say Wolverine would be more of a scrapper, while characters like Wendigo, the Pitt and even Sabretooth show more of a brutish version of claws. I don't know if there is a power set in this game that fits a brute better than claws honestly.
Yes. Don't forget Dark Melee. I think those are all fantastic sets and I think they belong on Brutes. I just don't like them. I'd like Broadsword.
No broadsword for brutes unless we get something like This

They'd lose style points too....eviscerate is teh ugly :\

While this may be true, I still want to see it done on a granite brute.
[/ QUOTE ]
This. The only thing that would ever get me to make a granite brute is if it was Spines, Claws, or Martial Arts.
That said, I want spines more than anything else for brutes.
[/ QUOTE ]
I like this idea. I'd also like to have a Thorns/Granite Brute. Yes I mean Thorns, like the Doms have

Yep.
This is really doom.
