Wrong Number's Ha Ha Hut (humor arc reviews)

I realized the other day that all of my arcs are humor based, ok I knew that, but what never really hit me before was that there is no reviewer that specializes in humor arcs. Enter Wrong Number’s Ha Ha Hut.

What to expect:

1) Your arc will be graded on its humor and fun level. This will be separate from the star rating which will take all factors into account and not be listed here.

2) When I rate an arc I generally never give less than stars 3 for anyone that makes a real effort even if they fall way short.

3) If you are looking for a long detailed blow by blow review of your arc you will be disappointed if you submit it here. My reviews will be short and sweet.

4) I am a forty something year old female with a diverse love of comedy. I enjoy just about any type of humor. However, if I feel something falls out of my humor tastes I reserve the right to ask a guest reviewer to fill in. (I have many to choose from)

What you need to do to get your arc in the Hut:

1) Play the one of my arcs below that most closely matches the length of the arc you are submitting.

1 Missions – Trademark Infringement (2220)
2-3 Missions – Death to Disco (84420)
4-5 Missions – Have a Blap, Blap, Blappy Day Kids! (2019)

You may also do the two shorter ones in place of the Blappy arc if you prefer.

2) Send me feedback in game and then post your request in the format below. You do not need to write a review of my arc though if you feel so inclined feel free to comment under the thread for that arc.

Title: Victor’s Online
Arc ID: 97980
Creator’s Global Name: @Hellguard
Mission Count: 4
Notes – None

Lowdown - This was a very fun arc especially if you are familiar with the behind the scenes workings of MMORPG’s and the people that make them. The Victors Online Staff are all great (personal favorite: QA Tester’s bio). The wandering crowds have some dialog worth a few chuckles. The mission’s humor level grows the further you get into the arc. The author made a really great choice for the big bad in the last mission and his bio/look are really funny.

Funny Level – Humorous to Very Humorous

Fun Level - More fun than a barrel of monkeys

Let’s up it to 11! – Smaller maps, more humor in some Victors Online bios

Overall Rating – Well worth playing. MMORPG fans will especially enjoy this arc.

Title:Chocolatier Wars!
Arc ID: 1153
Creator’s Global Name: @Electroanagesia
Mission Count: 3
Notes – EB in final mission (help provided)

Lowdown – Very well written detail oriented arc. The Chocolatiers in the first mission have funny bios and the animations chosen for them add to the humor. Many of the clues though out have humorous twists to them and though optional they are worth stopping to enjoy. I really liked the humor in the arc souvenir. I felt the humor in the arc started out strong, but weakened as the story progressed.

Funny Level – Mildly amusing - Humorous

Fun Level - Average to Very depending on your love of chocolate.

Let’s up it to 11! – Some of the dialog could use a little punching up as could the descriptions of the standard Crey converted to the Chocolatier group.

Overall Rating – Not super funny, but a very solid arc that should not be missed.

I made a pass through the arc last week and replaced a couple maps, so they're smaller than they were originally. I'll take another look when I go through it again sometime this week to spruce up the dialogue and bios a bit.

Well I think I've already played your first 2 (3rd is in my To-Play list) so if you want to try my stupid--I mean funny!--arc its mercifully short. But to...uhm...appreciate it fully you have to be familiar with the old CoH "kill skuls" joke. (Here's the Paragon Wiki link with the text of the original posts). It's designed for lowbies so don't expect an epic (that's my other one) but maybe you'll be amused. Enjoy!

I know for a fact that I have played and rated "Trademark Infringement" and "Death to Disco", though it was a couple weeks ago at least.

I played "Have a Blap, Blap, Blappy Day Kids!" and posted my quick review of it in my thread. I hereby submit:

Title: MacGuffin Delivery Service
Arc ID: 1567
Creator’s Global Name: @Lazarus
Mission Count: 4
Notes – This is a villain arc, if you are going to play it using a hero character be warned that there is a bug where the Carnies will not spawn below level 40 if the team leader is a hero. Villains don't have this issue, Carnies will spawn as low as 35 in this arc just fine for them. Also, while the 3rd and 4th missions are pretty stealth friendly you will be missing a lot of funny details if you skip to the end of the map instead of fighting through. Oh, and click ALL the glowies.

Notes – Kill Skuls

Lowdown – The enemies are standard Skulls, but your allies are custom. The allies are well done and have amusing text and dialog (be sure to loose them at some point to get some of the funnest stuff). This is a low level arc 1-14 so the skull boss can be tough just like in normal content. The concept of using "Go. Hunt. Kill Skuls is a good one.

Funny Level – Mildly amusing

Fun Level - It is fast (one mish) and it is always fun smashing Skuls.

Let’s up it to 11! – I would really like to see some custom humor based Skuls. Some patrols with dialog could eaily up the humor level. There is a shortage of worth playing low level missions, but this one should definitively be added to your play list 1-14.

Overall Rating – A solid mission that is worth a play, but could use some more laughs.

Lowdown – You might think an arc based on an infamous forum post would not sustain three missions, but this one delivers. Humorous through out it gave me more than a few chuckles. There were many subtle references besides the straight up humor. All the custom characters are humorous to varying degrees. My one minor complaint is that the final boss was not up to stuff with the rest of the arc.

Funny Level – Milk squirting out the nostrils.

Fun Level – Funtastic!

Let’s up it to 11! – Maybe vary the captives (more groups if space allows), Average American = Young American (think Bowie), the final big bad could stand some punching up.

Overall Rating – Definitely play this arc if you are looking for something light and funny. If you are not familiar with the This is how it start's jerk hacking (dupin) forum post it is a must read to get most of the humor in this arc.

Oh WN see what you do to me? LOL after checking this I just had to stop leveling my 44 level scrapper so I could get the data and post here. Since I have done Tradmark Infringment and Death to Disco can you rate the following for Moi?

Arc ID: 124380
Title: Trouble on Old Mac Donaldson's Farm
Global Name: @Taxibot Sara2.0
Mission Count: 8
Notes: A tale of Ailen Invasion on Old Mac's farm with 1 mandatory rescue and one that isn't. The AV will spawn as an EB if soloed on heroic

ID: 54641
Name: Sings like an Angel while the Devil Plays along
Global Name Same as above
Mission Count: 5 (was over 50 but I mistakenly unpublished to edit and had to start over LOL)
Notes: Big Bubba and his brother kidnap Country singer Jessi Blaze hoping to force her to sign a long term contract. AV again spawns as an EB on heroic (solo)

By the way all who may read this Wrong Number has created some of the best and funniest arcs I have played. If you haven't tried Death to Disco or Tradmark Infringment Go do so NOW!

Nice to see you expanding into review work WN See you in game

Title: Rise of the Drakule
Arc ID: 51357
Creator’s Global Name: @laserjesus
Mission Count: 2
Notes – Boss/EB heavy

Lowdown – There is plenty of humor in this arc and overall the writing is very good. I really, really hate having to lower my difficulty just to play an arc, but the Eb in the first creamed me and the description did say "best for team play". The look of the customs is good, though the powers badly need rebalancing.

Funny Level – For team play I am guessing Very Humorous. I would not recommend it for solo play at this time.

Fun Level - Team play it should be pretty fun. For solo play not so much.

Let’s up it to 11! – Please, please rework the powersets. It would definitely increase your ratings/plays of people that like to solo.

Overall Rating – The arc is very worth playing however even lowered to level 1 the amount of dark powers combined with confuse and self heals may be very hard for many soloing. It should be perfectly manageable by any decent team

Lowdown – This arc is solid throughout play wise though the humor aspects have some ups and downs. The first two missions were very good especially the second where you run into several non-combats with some amusing things to say. The third mission seemed very standard save for the clues which were great. The map was a bit large which lead to some hunting for that last glowie. The last mish is back on track and wraps it all up nicely. Be sure to listen for the battle dialog as it is very funny.

Funny Level – Humorous to Very Humorous

Fun Level - A day at the Carnival!

Let’s up it to 11! – Some reworking or maybe just shortening of mission three would go a long way.

Overall Rating – A fun amusing arc that is worth your time.

Lowdown – The way this one mission arc started out I thought I might have been playing the wrong arc. It became pretty clear I was in the right place when the Candy Faires showed up. All of the little darlings had funny bios and looked oh so cute, but they did pack a mean bite (tip- target the Gumdrop first). The final baddie had confuse which suuuuuccccckkkksss and I really didn't think it was needed. The arc was enjoyable and how I like um, short and sweet

Funny Level – Humorous

Fun Level - Oompa-Loompa Silliness

Let’s up it to 11! – Change/tone down the final boss. Give the poor Veggie Fairies bios the same treatment as the Candies.

Overall Rating – Really a cute, fun and quick little arc. A few small tweaks and this could easily be put in my rotation.

Hey WN,

Submitted for your consideration, then...

Title: The Rise and Fall of the Radioactive Bikini Squad
Arc ID: 1928 (I think, if I'm wrong it's in my sig)
Creator’s Global Name: @Wyrm
Mission Count: 5
Notes – Should be soloable. Has an extreme boss (not an EB) at the end, but there's a helper NPC available. I recommend level 40+ on it, because of some of the foes. Yes, there are Knives of Artemis, but only for one mission, and it's as short as I could reasonably make it.

Hope you enjoy the arc!

Thank you for the review! I will make sure to play through Trademark Infringement.

Rise of the Drakule has gone through a few revisions in the past for difficulty (not sure how long ago you played it), and in I15 it's getting a major overhaul. Still quite a few dark blasts and heals (they are vampires, after all) but the overall difficulty should be lower. For instance, no more things like Cleave or Midnight Grasp on the AVs, and less dark blasts on the LTs and such, since I can fine tune them to be somewhere between standard and hard.

The reason why it says for teams is mostly due to the fact that it contains EBs and AVs, which not everyone can solo. Essentially, anyone who can solo an EB should be able to solo this with some skill, and you can always bring insps for the final boss.

When I was re-playing it, I did feel that the I15 changes to power selections will be a blessing for the arc. I understand totally that you want to keep the vampire "feel" of the npcs powers and currently it is kinda limited as to what you can do in that area.

Title: hero therapy (TM)
Arc ID: 119228
Creator’s Global Name: ridiculous girl
Mission Count: 4 missions
Notes – this arc has multiple scaling levels. 5-20, 20-29, 30-40, and 40-54. the why should be appearant as you play. what this means is that you need a toon that scales down and maybe up well. a mid 30s toon is usually best since it is usually not fully tweaked and still has a full complement of powers. one thing to note is that fire blasters seem to have an extreme weakness to the third mission boss, despite having allies. just a warning. otherwise, enjoy!
