I ran your arc and though solid play wise I felt the humor was much more suited for a male audience. So, I am using a life line and calling in a guest reviewer, Hellguard.

Totally understand your position, the idea came from ongoing in-jokes we have in the Angry Angel SG. The EB of Mish 1 is a new invention, otherwise the custom toons are based on members of the SG. That said ty to you and Hellguard for you critques and I did expand the intro dialogs to give it more backstory.

I'll give it another run-through. I hope I didn't come across as overly negative in my review, because there was a lot of promise in it.

And I really liked the Freak EB you made.

While I'm not looking for you to review my arc, no discussion of humorous arcs would be complete without mentioning , "Wicked, Wicked Wonderland" - #1224.

In it you'll face custom mobs of Playing Cards like the "Not Playing with a Full Deck" gang and "The Broken Hearts" ... and you'll discover the real reason The Queen of Hearts hates Alice so much.

So come have a wonderful time in Wonderland. All in-game comments welcome ... but posted reviews are not. Do NOT reveal the shock ending.

Thanks.

Creator’s Global Name: @Bubbawheat
Mission Count: 4
Notes: lvl range 15-30, somewhat serious story just with lots of humor bits thrown around. Nothing above a boss. Also, had one report after my recent update that one of my objectives didn't spawn in the last mission. It worked for me afterwards, but I thought I'd mention it.

Lowdown – Bubba, Bubba, Bubba, you submit this arc to me for a humor review when there is very little in the way of humor in it. Are you expecting me to not mention how clever it is or how engaging? Do you want me to ignore the excellent concept and near perfect execution? Well. sorry to disappoint you.

Funny Level – Mildly Humorous

Fun Level - Extremely fun and it will suck you in

Let’s up it to 11! – The only thing I would add is that in your last series of foes neither the minion or the Lt. had a custom bio

Overall Rating – Honestly, one of the best and most enjoyable arcs I have played in MA. It may not be big in the humor department, but you owe it to yourself to play this arc.

Took it in the vain that you intended, especially since it was my first go at the MA. The humor was to come from the NPC quips, so I'm glad you picked up on that. (btw, the other MA in my sig is geared towards fans of film noir.)

I guess I just always think of it as the funnier of my two arcs. Most of the humor is in bits of dialog and clues, more subtle humor than laugh out loud humor. I suppose it would be more appropriately called comic relief in a serious arc. But thanks for reviewing it anyway! Glad you liked it.

Title: The History of Statesman
Arc ID: 219484
Creator’s Global Name: @jjac
Mission Count: 4

[/ QUOTE ]

Lowdown – This arc is based on the supposed future's version of Statesman's history. As you might expect they got a "few" of the details wrong here and there . The humor in this arc is mostly of the silliness variety with puns and reference galore. Special mention to the overall great charter designs in all of the missions (I really loved the WWII ones).

Funny Level – Silly, silly and more silly. Quite Humorous

Fun Level - A definite "E" ticket ride

Let’s up it to 11! – The Hero that helps you in mish 2 and 3 does too much of the heavy lifting for my liking. The dirt piles click time is way to long for anyone to ever click them (they are optional)

Overall Rating – One to add to your humor queue especially if you like silly humor.

Arc ID: 102224
Creator’s Global Name: @ObsidianDevil
Mission Count: 1
Notes – This arc contains some really tough fights (2EB's, 2AV's). There is help provided but it was designed as comedy-challange-"task force in a single mission". Also while technically only 1 mission there are a lot of objectives in there so I did your longer arc (and I'm morally opposed to Death to Disco).

Its 6 missions long, published in two 3-mission arcs:

Title: The Audition
Arc ID: Part One is 221240 - Part Two's arc ID is given at the end of Part One
Creator’s Global Name: MrCaptainMan
Mission Count: Part One - 3 missions. Part Two - 3 missions
Notes – Intended audience is HIGH LEVEL, SOLO and HEROIC. It's VERY CHALLENGING so take lots of inspirs. Lots of text and clues. Players who like to read EVERYTHING won't be disappointed. Oh, and its quite funny imo

[/ QUOTE ]

Lowdown – Take the warning to play this arc at diff. 1 because I made the mistake of doing the first half at a higher diff and it crimped the fun for me (totally my fault). I did go back and replay it and the 2nd part at diff 1 and it was great! LOADED and I mean LOADED with humor. It was a good decision to split this into 2 3 parters because it allowed for a lot more customs, story and fun to be packed in.

Funny Level – Very Humorous to I have to change my panties again!

Fun Level - Varies from mish to mish, but fun through out. Personal fav was mish 4 (Part 2, 1). Mish 6 is is also a killer.

Let’s up it to 11! – I think a few of the maps could stand to be smaller. The last custom group has dark and rad minions which was a bit much.

Overall Rating – A must play for anyone that likes humor arcs and easily one of the best humor arcs I have reviewed so far.

Arc ID: 1684
Mission Count: 1

[/ QUOTE ]

Lowdown – The humor from this arc is almost all from the custom hostages you rescue and their dialog. A big opportunity to inject more humor is missed because all the hostages have similar bios. You are provided with a helper, but since you are only fighting Clockwork they are not really needed.

Funny Level – Amusing

Fun Level - It's fast and easy

Let’s up it to 11! – Bios for the peeps you rescue, some additional goal like a boss would be nice even if you had to remove a hostage or two.

Overall Rating – For a one mission arc it is worth a play, but I really feel there is a lot of room still for more humor.

Title: Coulrophobia (Fear of Clowns)
Arc ID: 1178
Creator’s Global Name: @Mental Maden
Mission Count: 5
Notes – very difficulty sensitive. It can and has been solo'd but a team is recommended. If you want an easy ride don't bump the difficulty. If you want a challenge, crank it up.

[/ QUOTE ]

Lowdown – For an arc about clowns I was expecting a non-stop joke fest and though this arc is reasonable well written, the humor is on the light side. On the plus side the customs are all well done appearance wise and all have bios that rhyme in a humorous fashion (I do feel that the Big Bad should have broken this mold and gave more info). I did like the concept of a character's named Knock-knock and wish his dialog was a series of bad knock knock jokes. Still, the story and contact's dialog was solid throughout.

Funny Level – A cheap ride at the local fair

Fun Level - Varied

Let’s up it to 11! – More funny in the clues (don't tell me it is a ransom note, show it), add more variety to patrol dialog, give the objects some humor test, consider combining two mission into one or dropping one to up the pace.

Overall Rating – A decent arc with lot's of potential, but it still need some work in the humor area.

Follow up to the follow up.

I've since tweaked some of the EB and AVs difficulty even more to soften them just a touch. I also added more "rhyme" to Roberto's bio to differentiate him from the others, but would like something a little more "epic" but that will take some time. I liked your idea of the leader of the Knock-Knocks saying things in knock knock form, then I looked at his bio and remembered......it was a knock knock joke! (sort of ) Wasn't sure if you noticed that. When i15 comes with all of the MA changes I'll likely go in and tweak even more to even out the mobs a touch and while doing that, I'll see about increasing some of the mob dialogue. And I'll finally get started on the sequal.

Lowdown – The author of this arc describes it as a comedy-challenge arc and that description is pretty accurate overall. The arc features, and this should be no surprise, bees. The customs are all pretty cute and the dialog of the various bosses is humorous. The challenge aspect will be tough for some builds, but with the humor and a few clever clues you won't mind it too much.

Funny Level – Not exactly knee slapping funny, but cute and humorous.

Fun Level - Buzz worthy

Let’s up it to 11! – Don't tell me to buzz off just because I am harshing your buzz a little, but I think there is room for more funny (especially in the bios).

Overall Rating – A fun and challenging short arc worth a play or two.

Lowdown – This Halloween based one mission arc is basically a trick or treat gone wrong. The contact is awesome looking and a variety of new what I I like to call "sexy witches" are added to the mix of standards you would expect at Halloween. The dialog and text are amusing, but some humor opportunities were missed. Taking place on a large map, that though appropriate, it makes finding the needed glowies a bit of a chore.

Funny Level – Amusing

Fun Level - Pretty fun, but searching for that last glowie can drain some of that away.

Let’s up it to 11! – Add some funny clues when you find things. Rather than a straight glowie hunt maybe add in a boss. Some lost trick or treaters would provide another place to inject humor.

Overall Rating – For a quick little amusing arc it is worth a play and since I was the first to play it I am betting it will only get better with time and tweaks.

Thanks for the Review WN!

I was thinking of adding clues onto the Glowies... I needed a bit more time to think about just what I wanted to say there, and I still have some space left in the arc (around 8%), but I felt ATM it was about 90% or so of where I wanted it, so was ready to publish it and get reviews . Since it is always hard to decide where to tweak things to until others try it out

The number of glowies was basically just a number I pulled out (3 groups of 3, so 9 total). I wanted it on one of the graveyard like maps, which forced the size to be big, and I wanted it show up with lots of glowies (so the good and the bad ones), but wasn't sure just how many to add. I know having tested it numerous times it does take a bit to find all the glowies, but was part of the idea.

I like the idea of the Lost Trick or Treaters... I probably don't have the room with the current size of the file (I think it is 11 Custom chars already) (maybe in I15 where the size gets reduced slightly, then I can add in like 3 trick or treating customs chars, and just have group(s) of them wandering around that talk).

As for a Boss addition - I though about it, but wasn't sure how to do it right or trigger it right... I could make it just an objective that is optional or such?. I almost added a Boss Objective vs. the 3rd Battle objective. And I agree, a Boss would add more places for humorous dialog, I see what I can do with that thought.

Thanks again for the review, and any pointers/answers to the above to help clean it up a bit more would be appreciated!

[/ QUOTE ]

Lowdown – An evil record company exec is trying to force a singer to sign a, I assume bad, recording contract and you need to stop him. His office complex is filled with his family all who have jobs at the company (nepotism at it's best!). The custom characters all have bios and some are pretty funny. The dialog is mostly amusing. The story and writing in the arc make sense and it is a reasonable funny concept.

Funny Level – Amusing

Fun Level - It's one mish, so fast and there is enough to hold your interest.

Let’s up it to 11! – Many of the custom's bios are great, but some can use more humor, add some funny clues to the glowies, maybe a patrol or two with some dialog.

Overall Rating – For a one shot arc it has enough in it for you to give it play or two.

Lowdown – If you are expecting lots of literary references with a name like this one has you would not be disappointed. The author is clearly well read and has a true love for literature. Don't be surprised if you run into Charles Keating or William Shakespeare or any other famous author types.

Through out the arc there are little humor bits here and there, but the real funny comes in the glowies in mission two. There is a problem, though easily fixed, in that the information about the glowies is given through the micro text on the progress bar.

Be warned, there are a few "give mes" in the story, but this is a humor arc after all.

Funny Level – Humorous to Very Humorous

Fun Level - A nice little romp

Let’s up it to 11! – Add clues to those glowies....now! Also, maybe add some interrupt text like "Too hard to read? I know!" The minions need a little toning down and the boss could stand to loose IH.

Overall Rating – A worthy arc you will especially enjoy is you are a fan of classic literature.

If you don't mind visiting Test, #225399 "Why We Fight" is something of a comedy arc, as an Arachnos Arbiter uses the AE system to show citizens the Dire Consequences that would befall the world without the wisdom and benevolence of Lord Recluse....

Lowdown – Do you remember the old What If comics with titles like "What if Spiderman joined the FF?" or "What if Captain America was never frozen?". Well imagine those written from a villain's twisted perspective and you have a great idea ripe for humor. This arc is what I would call a concept piece and it is nicely executed with varying degrees of humor throughout.

Funny Level – Amusing to Humorous to Very Humorous

Fun Level - A day at the carnival

Let’s up it to 11! – I could do without the sexist jokes in the one mission and would love more and different descriptions in the customs (especially the last mission's group)

Overall Rating – A nice concept that was well done, humorous and held my interest throughout. A definite "must play" when it hits live.

Thanks for the feedback, and the good words. And yes, I'm @DFH on Test. Someone swiped my global just to irritate me. (Then they PMed me saying every time they opened their mouth everyone jumped down their throat, because they thought it was me. Never step into the devil's shoes unless you're ready to walk a mile in them....)

I knew Act III would irritate some people, but felt it was necessary to make the point. Yes, it's sexist, but consider the source -- you should be laughing at them, not with them.

I do have some extra space (about 15%) and I'm still deliberating on where to spend it. I think a good chunk should go to making some custom Minions for the third act, both to add variety and cut down on the amount of Psi damage. If I can I do want to spice up some of the /info panels.

Lowdown – This arc features a villain group that consists of all the various types of bad grammar and game related writing mishaps (MisTell is an example of that type). The bios for all of these guys range from amusing to very humorous and for me the exclamation guy was the best. I played this one shot arc on difficulty 1 and I was glad I did. There are several bosses and a final EB.

Funny Level – Humorous

Fun Level - A fast fun ride, definitely E ticket

Let’s up it to 11! – The two big things that could use more humor is the contact and the captive. It may even be funny to have the captive be an ally vs the final big bad.

Overall Rating – If you like short, fun missions, this is one for you. Be sure to read all the bios!
