1. I created Halloween Night - Arc Id# #227436
Its a take on the concept of Trick or treating.

Try it out...
2. Thanks for the Review Venture.

I wanted the Big Baddy to be hard at the end... And I wanted him to be able to Rez. Due to the Nature of what he is. I was trying to capture the idea of Cancer.... Maybe I can look at trying to cut it back... Especially since I can now pick what powers he has... When I created him and the Arc that didn't exist (and in the numerous edits I've done since forgot all about that affect - since I touched most everything else but him)... That way I can tone him down and still keep the Rez effect I want... That actually might work.

BTW Thecat as a Last name is actually what Murky and such were called in real life and when used in things . Kinda of a joke on it.

The Council Earth Map was swapped in for one of the normal outdoor building maps due to how HUGE that map was, and how annoying it was. The Council Earth Map was smaller and gave the concept... Not sure if any new map has been added that would fit better and still give the idea I wanted.

If anyone has a suggestion for that Map - please let me know.

And thanks again Venture - I think I have some ideas of what to do to the Big Baddy at the end to tone him down slightly
3. Next time I'm on I'll bug it from both of my arcs.. Feel free to use them to bug it if you want

With my one arc (#77311), you can see how it works okay if the custom groups are all similar level ranges (Carnies and Warewolves in the 1st mission)... But it was the 2nd and such where I have the variety of groups, that generator it..... I'm not sure if it is based on any time of special ordering, since I have like 10-15 different groups mixed together with certain pieces (I wanted normal looking guys for a security force, so used all the different police views, security, etc). And when I check it out... well lets just say I had groups with characters ranging from 1-30ish (the level of the char I tested it with was in the mid 30s). I didn't spend enough time trying to figure out the Rhyme or Reason for how it occurs... I just find it annoying.
4. I've got the same problem in my missions.

I created custom groups out of multiple standard groups, with a range from 1-54.. And in the missions I saw some 10s, some 30s, etc all together in one group, and throughout the mission.

I believe is has something to do with SSK maybe? Getting confused and such?

Really annoying, and not much I can do about it.. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

Plugging the Gap

No Fireworks for 4th of July (Paragon is in the US)...?
6. Good luck in School A_C.
Engineering is fun

Just make sure spend the time to study, try not to push things off until right before they are due (i.e. when you get an assignment that is due in a couple weeks don't wait until the night before to do it, if you get things done quickly, it makes life much easier).

But most of all, when in school, have some fun. If you stress out the whole time on School work you will burn out.. Just don't over do the fun

Once again - good luck!

Apparently finding all of a set of “treats” spawn some Hesling spawns. I thought they hunted vampires, not witches. Also, one of the glowies spawned a boss named “Dentist.” OK, I was wrong. There’s nothing more terrifying than a dentist. Except maybe Michael Jackson as a dentist. After I take him out in a single hit, there’s only one glowie left to find. And now begins my all-time favorite game of CoH – “Find the Last Glowie!” This map is simply too large for that kind of game. After looking around for the last glowie for something like 20 minutes and burning up a ton of temp jet fuel, I give up and quit the mission. At least I managed to ding Lv13 in this mission.

Final Summary: Honestly, I didn’t really see the humor in this story arc. The only thing that got a chuckle out of me was the Dentist boss. While the idea of a “trick and treat” mission using “good” glowies to trigger allies and “bad” glowies to trigger ambushes is an interesting idea, there were simply too many glowies on the outdoors map. A humor-focused story arc is something that should be relatively easy to complete and shouldn’t be tedious. The custom critters were all slightly different colored varieties of women in the “witch” outfit with the chest slider set to max. I entered this mission thinking it’d be a quick and short mission, and ended up spending nearly an hour. I think “The History of Statesman” took that long to complete, and it was 4 missions.

My rating: 2 stars
First off - thanks for the review -and for finding a couple typos. I look into fixing those.

Helsing (as in Van Helsing) would be a Vampire hunter.. I did modify them to Hesling to play off the idea and look, but made them witch hunters instead.

So I take it you didn't read ANY of the Clues or the dialog that was being said by ANY of the groups? All of the clues and Dialog were humor driven, and fun. Like getting a Popcorn ball from a good click or a pencil from a bad. Including the fact that each time you interact the interact text, and what happens if you stop in the middle all are funny lines. The Dentist even plays off things like that in his Dialog as you are fighting him. Since you killed him in 1 hit with a Stalker you probably missed all of that dialog.

Glad you figured out the trick to the glowies (I did do that on purpose). It was to make it easier for people paying attention to find the tricks and avoid the treats.

I realize the map is big, but I wanted something that fit the mission idea, and allowed me to have lots of patrols and such wandering around with the lines. You are out there Trick or Treating.

Also I don't think the Chest slider was maxed out on the witches.

Sorry you didn't enjoy it, seems it just wasn't an Arc for you.
8. If you've got time - try out either of my two arcs (I'd prefer the Long one, but you can do either):

The Ballad of Murky Thecat - #77311 (5 Missions, long)
Halloween Night #227436 (single Mission - trick or treating)
9. If you wouldn't mind either of my two

The Ballad of Murky Thecat - #77311 (long 5 mission arc)
Halloween Night - #227436 (single Mission trick or treating)

That is awesome WN ... Did you make sure to include the Arc Id and such in his Description?

[/ QUOTE ]

He is an exact copy of the Dr. Disco Fever you meet in the arc including his description except for the fact I have "Think you can stop me? You can try! Arc 84420 Death to Disco!" or something to that effect at the bottom.

Death to Disco!

[ QUOTE ]
Because the main "bad guy" of this arc Dr, Disco Fever, was so well received I decided to bring him into CoV as a "real" villain. The other day I was on an ITF with him when someone on the team asked "Are you that guy from the Death to Disco! arc?". When I told them I was they said "My friends love that arc!". It made my day.

Want a group of Trick or Treaters who don't attack and just wander... Need to see if MA will let me do that.

[/ QUOTE ]

Just put them in a patrol and set it to "Ally".

[/ QUOTE ]

If there an Ally they won't attack me - but will attack all the rest of the enemies right?

Also I couldn't find anything other then The Dentist as a EB.. all the rest of the customs are at Boss or below - not sure how you saw an EB of the Hesling.

I've got some ideas as to how to make the text tell people about the Witches and Hesling around - and why there are there (and probably about the Dentist as well) - just need to find time and write it up.
13. londerwost:
Thanks for the Review...

When I first put it together it was at Max space (before I15). I managed to add in the Boss to fight (The Dentist) before then, at a suggestion of a previous reviewer. I was going for someone who would go after Kids trick or treating.

Since I15 I haven't had the time to clean up some of the dialog to add in about the Dentist and the Hesling (the Witch Hunters).

I also have plans for one more custom group... If I can make it work right.. Want a group of Trick or Treaters who don't attack and just wander... Need to see if MA will let me do that.

Halloween Night is next on my List to add some more cleanups too (just spend time the other night I was on cleaning up my other arc)

anachrodragon:
See above on the Contact Intro Dialog - I'll look at adding more to it to spruce it up.. Now that I gained a ton of room from I14 --> I15 (went from 99% to 75% filled with the issue change). I have some ideas as to the Intro and Send off text to add + another whole group (if it works right).

"pirate elite bosses" I didn't think the Helsing Big boss guy was at Elite - that is weird I'll check that out. Considering The Dentist was an EB (I think I did him as one) that should be scaling down to Boss level for single/small groups.

There might be some Emoticons in the Text hard to remember

As for the Grammar/Spelling Issue I'll look for that thanks!

Check out my Halloween Night Arc:
Arc Id #227436
Arc Name: Halloween Night
Faction: Neutral
Difficulty: Middle level depending on what happens in it
Levels:1-30
Synopsis:
On a dark and stormy Halloween night, you decided to knock on the door of that scary house down the street. How were you to know that a real witch lived there, and wouldn't be happy with you bothering her. Oh well, maybe some good candy will come of this. [HFMA]

1 Mission. Lots of Trick and Treat items (Glowies)

[/ QUOTE ]

I didn't feel we could rate this one. There's either an issue with the objectives or it's bugged, and I wanted to give you a chance to sort it out. Basically, we looked for the dentist for about 20 minutes (I even made a target_custom_next macro for "dentist") and we never found him. Didn't see any dialog from him either. We eventually just decided to quit out and let you know.

[/ QUOTE ]

Now that is weird... he was there last time I ran it.. As well as when one of my SG mates ran it.

I'll check it out and Post if I found the issue.

{edit}
Hum he spawned for me a couple times I did it.

His name shows up as "The Dentist" I'll fix the Nav bar to capitalize the The.

Also the witches with him are doing a spell set that should light up where they are. Not sure what happened when you ran it.

BTW he always tends to show up in the bowl somewhere from what I can tell

{/edit}
16. Thanks for the Re-review!.

Glad it got better and made more sense.

I'll look into the word and the grammar flow in mission 4. As I said my Editor wasn't around.

As for another Nurse Minion. Still on my list. I had to get all the text and stuff done as well. But I think I have enough room to add 1 more Nurse (wasn't sure when I did the 2 new customs + all the textual changes I needed if I'd have room I think I should, its almost full again).

As for Map choice in 4... It was hard... the previous map choice was WAY TO BIG... and it annoyed me as well.. This map was a compromise, still wanted an outside back alley feel, but on a smaller map... And its hard to find the right one that is small enough... I'll keep looking thou

So feel free to check it out again and see if it flows better and makes more sense. The biggest issue before was without knoweldge of the Story pieces, it didn't flow. This should now fix that.

If I have time, I'll run your arc again tomorrow, BinkDeBook

It's not going to be as detailed as my first review (since I've already run your arc once); I'll just go over what I thought of the changes you made and make any further suggestions I can think of. And, of course, I'll tell you the new rating I gave it

[/ QUOTE ]

Not a problem... it does take a bit to run the Arc

I did have a SG Mate rerun it, along with a team set to see how how it went, and he liked the flow much better as well. (He understood it before, but I think it was due to the fact that he had read my Mission explanation on our forums).

Thanks again!
18. I've got a couple for ya:

Halloween Night - Arc ID #227436, Level Range is 1-30ish - Single Mission Arc

The Ballad of Murky The Cat - Arc Id #77311 - level Range is really 30+. Long 5 Mission Arc.

20. Okay ... I took what you had said, and tried to rewrite the intro, send off, and success returns to better show the flow of what I wanted. Did that on all 5 missions, with the first missions Intro basically explain why Kaysa is telling the story, and then getting it in view (i.e. basically this is how she saw the chain of events).

I got a couple more nurses in there as well (1 more minion and lieutenant - to flush it out some more).

Tweaked the descriptions on the nurses as well as on the bosses/EBs to fill in some more info.

Added more description to the Suburban Talisman so it made sense for what I wanted it to be.

Made the Captives in mission 1 have the Glowing Energy Fields so easier to find.

And changed the Map on the 4th mission for the City Map 1 to the City Map 1 - Council version (which is smaller and easier to navigate)

So feel free to check it out again and see if it flows better and makes more sense. The biggest issue before was without knoweldge of the Story pieces, it didn't flow. This should now fix that.

I didn't have my editor around to check Grammar and Spelling (which I suck at, so I hope I didn't miss anything on my double checks). I'll have her do it next chance I get

Thanks again for the review - I've been trying to get someone to review it so I can see how to modify for the general consumption.
21. Thanks for the review...

I understand where it gets a bit confusing..

The concept was to cover 5 parts of Murky's life (and the cause of her death).
Mission 1) Adoptions
Mission 2) Apartment Living
Mission 3) Living in Suburbia
Mission 4) The event of going to the doctor that lead to
Mission 5) Her fight again the Cancerous Sarcoma

I was trying to cover that story with events from her life, but in a slight humorous way at times, and how it was done. And I do agree without the knoweldge of what Mission 1-5 are suppose to be it does seem confusing... I've been trying to figure out ways to explain that better, but still keep it as a fun story (considering that in real life it ends in a very sad way).

At the time Pre I15 the Arc was filled, so couldn't add in much more to the nurses group, I now have some room, and definitely will look to flesh them out a bit more (they need a another minion or 2 and an another lieutenant - I agree).

I like the adjustment to get the Kitten hostages easier to find - will look into do that. Also I wanted a Carnie map, and the Carnie Warehouse map doesn't exist, so I was stuck with 1 of the 2 Carnie Outdoor maps.

I think I can work through the text to better explain that part...

Mission 2 - Yep the Contract can end up anywhere, so it can be really quick or take a bit through the map.

Mission 3 - Can't seem to get Murky to spawn right at front, so I made her have to be saved first, then have the Talisman spawn. I'll see if I can't add more flavor around the ideas of the Talisman and such.

Mission 4 - I wanted a map to represent a back alley doctor's location....And when I had it as just defeat the Doctor, with Murky as an alley... it never spawned right. I could not get Murky to be in the right spot up front and just be found.. And then have you go find the doctor... So I set it as it shows now... Find Murky - then have the Doctor Spawn. If you have an idea of a better Map I'm up for it. I agree this one is too long to find Murky and then the Doctor.

As for the last mission - I didn't want it to be you going into Murky to Save her. I wanted it to be you defeating the Disease as it is represented. So I did a representation of a Cancerous Sarcoma (I think maybe I'll add in the explanation of what that is for people who don't know - but it is a bit depressing)

So in a sense the Arc isn't exactly Wacky Comedy - its Slight Comedy to tell a story in honor of a lost pet, such that said pet is given a rememberence so they can live on forever in game.

I'll see what I can do to clean it up a bit more to tie things a bit together more.

edit - I also check and the Contact about info told you a bit of why she was telling you the story.

Funny enough - You'd probably like the other of my Story Arcs much better - pure comedy, lots of filled in pieces, etc - Arc Id #227436 - Halloween Night. Single Mission Glowie Hunt + Big Boss. Full of Flavor.

Thanks for the review, BinkDeBook, glad to hear you'll be running my other arcs in the future

I'll run your arc sometime tomorrow, since I don't have time tonight. I'm looking forward to it

[/ QUOTE ]

Glad to help and looking forward to some feedback. When I run a second part I'll ask you to run my 2nd existing arc (a short humor focused one - Halloween Night)
23. Okay so I've run the first part of (Arc ID #47193 - The Galactic Protectorate - 01). So now for some feedback for you (also sent it to you in game).

This was a fun arc, I enjoyed it. I ran it on my Claws/SR Scrapper (lvl 48, on Unyielding), who is basically at the soft cap for defense.

The custom characters descriptions were great. Each one told me a lot about the specific character, and some insight into there powers, so I could pick my target order. The looks of them was okay, not the best I've seen, but not bad in general, the theme made sense.

My biggest gripe overall was that too many of the custom chars seemed to have healing powers (from Pain Dom's heals, O2 Boost, etc). So I'd get groups with like 3-4 healing types in it at times. Which, along with the Psi attacks and the hurricane debuffs made things... well interesting at times.

The map choices were good, they fit the story, and tied in well overall. The story was intriguing, and makes me want to head off and run the 2nd arc to see if it carries forward as well as the first. So I've added them to my list to run.

Good work. On my scale its a 4-5 star arc (didn't run into anything that really subtracted from the 5 star start, other then the too many custom char healers).
24. If you wouldn't mind I'm still looking for reviews on my main arc:

The submission process has two levels. If you'd like a quick review, just post your arc information in the following format.

Arc ID: #77311
Arc Title: The Ballad of Murky Thecat
Author: BinkDeBook
Morality: Heroic
Number of Missions: 5
Description:
This is the story of Murky Thecat. A black cat with a lot of potential.

This arc was created in memory and to honor the original Murky Thecat (Apr 1998 - Jan 2008). This Arc takes you through her "life" in a fun way. And end with you helping to defeat the monster that beat her in real life. In this way she gets to live on forever and win against the monster.

5 Total Missions - following the following concepts:
Mission 1:Adoption
Mission 2:Apartment Living
Mission 3:Suburban Life
Mission 4:<You need to play this one to find out about it - has what should be an easy EB>
Mission 5:<You need to play this one to find out about it - has what should be a hard EB>
25. Mind Reviewing my 5-mission long one?
