Sure, there's that whole "halloween event" with "badges" and "temporary powers." But this is the MA forum! Wouldn't you rather be seeing all the horror-related arcs that people have made?

Well I do, at least. Let's see some zombies, mummies, vampires, anything involving something you'd see in a horror movie.

I'll get things started with mine. The Drakule series are comedy arcs based on vampire fiction, with a heaping portion of camp. They also contain archvillains/elite bosses so if you can't handle those solo, bring a friend or two along. The arc numbers are 51357, 84543, and 257242. Author is Laser Jesus (No @ symbol. Damn bug.)

Now let's see those arcs, people! I want to see some horror movie action!

My most-played arc, "The Love Talker: a City of Heroes Faerie Tale," #30242, was originally written as a Halloween story.

If nearly getting your soul devoured by demons in "The Amulet of J'gara" (#1709) is not horror then I don't know what is.

Played the Love Talker. I enjoyed the story, it had a nice fairie tale aesthetic, and was in general pretty well written. Some of the bosses are a tad too powerful, with the final AV especially dealing tons of damage with aim and fiery embrace. I rated it a 4, however, as the difficulty wasn't too out of hand to make me especially angry. The allies on the outdoor map were a bit annoying due to aggroing everything in sight, so I dropped those.

I also just published a new arc, 340316: Drakule vs. The Werewolf Bikers From Hell. It has a clue at the beginning to recap the events of the previous arcs, if you haven't played them. It's more parody of vampires with insane characters. It's designed to be played with a team, as the enemies can be pretty challenging. I'd love to hear feedback on it.

I'll post more feedback in this thread as I play more of these arcs.

Astoria in D Minor #41565 isn't exactly "Halloween", but I've been told that some people found it pretty scary.

Astoria in D Minor, a horror arc. Arc ID: 41565 - The Beating Heart of Astoria: A Play in Five Acts. Arc ID: 170547 - Ignition of the Machine, a story with robots. Arc ID: 318983
Captain Skylark Shadowfancy and the Tomorrownauts of Today. Arc ID: 337333 - Signal:Noise, where is everybody? Arc ID: 341194
@The Cheshire Cat - Isn't it enough to know I ruined a pony making a gift for you?

12 second horror stories - a writing experiment.

Played the Amulet of J'Gara. I liked the story, it pulls it's eventual climax off well, and makes each mission feel unique and yet still part of the same story. The difficulty was appropriate for the level range of the arc. There were a couple textual errors I found and notified the author of. All in all, I rated it 5 stars. It's definitely worth a play.

Love Halloween Stuff! Gonna play all of these. My Halloween arc is Witch's Brew # 330099. Being that it's a villainous arc you get to play a bit of an evil monster yourself.

Played Tales of Croatoa. Story is very good, and the characterization is pitch perfect. Some of the clues and other non-dialogue text could get a little heavy-handed at times, but never into the realm of camp. The characters are sympathetic and never crossed the line into melodrama. 5 stars.

I just played Astoria in D Minor and that's got to be the creepiest and most distrubing arc ever. If it don't qualify as a Halloween arc then nothing does.

It's up there with Drakule 1 for sure (I haven't yet played 2 and 5). However the Werewolves do abuse Dull Pain a bit and the EB in the first mission is overpowered compared to all others who follow in the remainder of the arc. An Elite Boss with Dark Regen is just going to annoy anyone who doesn't have soft-capped defense.

I removed the Dark Regen, by the way.

Played Pirates Quest. Story was amusing enough, with the only issue being with some difficulty problems with the custom boss, and a patrol of all banished pantheon masks in the second mission. I have informed the author of these problems, and gave the arc 4 stars.

Played Silent Hi- I mean, Astoria in D Minor. The writing was high quality, and the little details helped set the atmosphere. I especially liked the still busy text on the contact. Glad to see I'm not the only one who likes to find creative uses for that. I gave it 5 stars.

I have to know, however, where is the last line that Event Horizon says in the last mission from? I recognize it from somewhere, but I can't remember where. It's driving me nuts.

Depends which "Last line". He's supposed to say a line when he dies about "A warrior always finds batte". That I got from Fable 2 (Though I doubt that's the first thing to ever use a line like that). He always vanishes before saying it every time I run it though. The line *I* always get as his last one is "We try to save people... but all we know how to do is hurt people.", which I don't know is from anything specifically (Though I would be surprised if something else hasn't used it in the past - it seems to fit "Superheroes" fairly well), but I think Schism says something like that earlier in the arc.

It was the warrior always finds battle line, and yes, that would be where I recognized it from. Thank you. It was driving me insane.

I completely forgot to mention this, but in one of the still busy text the word "neighbor" was spelled improperly. And I don't mean it had a u in it (you silly canadian), the g was in the wrong place.

That reminds me, remember our exchange in-game about Drakule's powers? I've figured out why he appeared to have Soul Drain. It's some sort of bug with one of the attacks in either Dark Melee or Dark Armor that's causing the "Soul Drained" glow to appear on enemies. Drakule himself does not have Soul Drain, nor is he Mephisto.

I just published another arc that would be fairly suited for halloween, Signal:Noise, ID #341194.

Note that it's still a bit rough around the edges since it's brand new, but I would appreciate any feedback on it! (The link to the thread is in my signature).

Looks like I'll have to wait to play all of these until after Halloween but I will get around to it. Just finished another one that nobody will play (I dare you!). A heroic tale for the scary season that will most likely require a team to finsh.
