it will automatically fail anything though

(if its a rescue mission dropping it will fail the mission)

That's incorrect. From the patch notes:

"Dropping a mission will carry with it everything that completing the mission successfully does. It will advance story arcs, improve Contact XP, grant special powers, give Mission Complete XP, etc."

Yes that is why I always drop the last mish from Skipper LeGrange Stop the ritual. Because I can never pass it and it completes the story arc and I get the bounes

Pfft, easy mission.... just solo or, at most, duo it. >.> I tend to try to get it with zero escapes.

K, just solo it and only had 1 escape. But I will still be dropping it because it took me almost 20 mins and I was killing the hole time. It is just too long and not that fun to me. So yes it is easy I just don't like it.

Valid. Of course, that's why I go for the zero escapes. Doesn't affect the game at all, just personal challenge - and more fun than some of the various plane-jane kill all missions.

(I do rather wish they'd give a "You let 0/x many escape" of some sort for beating that. While not a badger, it's something I'd be quite happy trying for.)

Dropping the mission doesn't always give you the special power though.

If the mission awards a temp power, you get it. Though, as I recall, you usually can't drop missions that reward temp powers...

Well thats a depends. If the mission complete awards the temp power, then the drop does award it.

If the temp power is a glowie in the mission (Examples: Sands of Mu, Wheel of Destruction and Mayhem/Safeguard raids), then obviously the drop will not.

The other thing I have not seen mentioned, is that you cannot drop timed missions. If you let the timer run out the mission fails, but generally the arc/contact continues.

If you are doing an arc and you complete it you do still get the temp powers, including the summon temp powers, i did it with Penelope Yin and got clockwork summoning, contact is Athena Currey in Steel Canyon.

Just so you are aware - you cannot get the Demon Farm from Harvey anymore, back when i13 came out, if you were not already starting the arc, the mission for that was pulled by the devs, it is no longer available!

[/ QUOTE ]Uh, I highly doubt that. I can confirm it later on tonight or tomorrow if someone hasn't gotten to it yet.

[/ QUOTE ]You used to be able to drop safeguards. That made it very easy to get the Raptor Pack on a level 5 Hero. I whined for a month after they changed it, every time I had to actually RUN the mission.

If the mission can be failed, the "Drop Mission" option isn't even given.

That conflicts with what BrokenPrey was saying. You can fail the stop 30 firbolg mission, yet BP (and many others) consistently drop it.

This is only true for timed missions. Missions that can fail for other reasons (boss escaping, rescue mission, protect the glowie, etc) can be dropped. I should know, I've done it often enough. For example, I always drop the mission to defeat Crimson.

Yep, you cannot drop timed or badge-awarding missions.
