Its common sense. No one can say they didn't know what they were doing was wrong... they just chose to ignore it. There were warnings in place people could have heeded.

Stating its a position of arrogance is your choice, but abusing a system claiming ignorance in the face of facts is unexcusable by those who are attempting to justify themselves.

[/ QUOTE ] I'm not gonna try to change your mind, it seems we just disagree on this issue. No big deal.

But I don't get why people feel they have to justify anything to other people(talking about MA stuff). Regardless if someone used the exploit or not, why does everyone feel the need to justify themselves or demonize those that did it? The change was made, some people were punished. Everyone should just get over it and move on.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm in agreement, but those people shouldn't then come onto various forum topics stating that the devs were wrong blah blah blah. They are bringing this argument forth by topics such as these. If they didn't want judgments from the player base then they shouldn't bring their judgments about the devs to the players.

[/ QUOTE ]

Sorry no punishment no abuse here, just a fair minded assesment that the devs were out of line on this. Whats more if they take action on an ongoing basis without giving guidelines they wont have many players left to take arbitrary action on.

I have said this time and again the forum environment cultivates players for whom a kick in the wedding tackle would be an honor and any scarring would just be considered one more badge to count.

They gave rough guidelines. There was a reason why they didn't give a specific definition because what they provided was enough to curb the behavior if people were serious about abiding by how the content was meant to be used.

Maybe they will lose players, maybe those players who are choosing to leave need to. Maybe the devs will look back and say oops and maybe they won't. SOE survived the worst blunder in any MMO and I'm pretty sure regardless of the playerbase opinions this game is going to continue moving on.

This doesn't make sense at all. You get someone who wants to build a farm. They pick a mob type that gives a lot of XP. There was no moustache-twirling going on. These farmers were not laughing maniacally at how they're messing w/ the devs' game. All they knew is that the devs gave them these tools to do w/ as they wished, and they built a mission that helped them achieve their desired ends.

It would have been very easy for the devs to do things like not permit only 1 mob type in an enemy group, not allow only minions/LTs/bosses, etc, and avoided this.

But no... the devs decide that, after the fact, they are going to swing their big stick and scare everyone.

Where is the fix to correct the issue of overly powerful custom mobs? Where is the fix to resolve the issue w/ new team members not being able to enter an AE mission? Where is the fix to resolve team members entering into different maps when they all click the same AE portal? Their priorities seem to be out of whack...

LOL you are either being ignorant or gloriously humorous.

SOE making the worst blunder in MMO history ?. There is only one event that fits that bill, NGE.

I think the reference was to what could have been the absolute coolest MMO out there... MxO... and they (SOE) fumbled it.

Yet, they're still in business.

SOE has made lots of blunders, but the big one relevant to this issue and how some people are viewing devs has nothing to do with SWG or the NGE.

Of those that are pled i would of never grinded up because until certain levels they would be super boring. If you level a Mind/Ta controller or a FF/Dark defender up with out PLing i salute you.

[/ QUOTE ]

Outside of powerleveling, the fastest way to level a character is to team a lot; this is largely independent of power set choices, but it's not as though playing a defender or controller hurts your chance to find a team (that's not counting that if you start teams yourself, you can be guaranteed a spot). So I'm not sure where you are trying to go with this.

On top of that, Mind/TA is actually a pretty good powerset combination for soloing: extremely safe with more than reasonable damage output. Only psi-resistent critters are annoying, and Acid Arrow, Disruption Arrow, Confuse, and Levitate can ameliorate that quite a bit.

Then you aren't talking about the worst blunder in MMO history. Just another quick observation NCSOFT does't have SONY's deep pockets either. The Dot Com bubble has come and gone.

They can make mistakes that would sink the entire MMO industry and still be in business .

SOE made the blunder of deleteting and/or banning thousands of players across multiple servers for a platinum exploit that occurred after one of their patches messed something up. It was their doing, they pushed the code and people found out about it. Anyone who received any of the gains from the exploit got penalized by either being rolled back, banned or deleted. It didn't matter if the player had no idea that the funds were ill gotten or not. People were trading funds to anyone, spreading the wealth so to speak. It was so wide spread they didn't ask how or why, they tracked the exploit and penalized everyone.

It was an SWG revamp centering on the combat system redesign that borked the game completely. It stands for New Game Enhancement.
