Wailers are worse than Rikti Monkeys...
O man i hate those things!! That is why i stay away from that contact i just hated them so much. Also in that mission the Mu guys always get lost for me so it just pisses me off.
I love wailers! I mean, they have incredibly weak attacks, give just as much exp as other mobs, and spawn in huge, easily-dispatched hordes... Even the bosses are a breeze to take out... and they give twice as much exp as any other boss! (Except maybe freakshows... except that while freak tankers MAY wake up, wailer kings seem to ALWAYS do so.)
Well they aren't difficult, they just are irritating snots the way they jump around from every direction.
On top of it all, Johnny doesn't even say hardly a thank you for saving his soul. There should be an optional ending where you can take out Johnny for being such an ingrate .

Well, if it weren't for the fact that I was getting paid for the job, I (as a villain) don't really care about the state of his soul. I wouldn't mind an optional ending where you watch him being pulled into some unpleasant nether realm if you "fail" to save him.

Actually, you DON'T save his soul. You destroy it, leaving him an empty, soullless husk of a man.

So when ya left, that Wailer Lord started talkin' again. He said that even if I got my soul, the wailers would still come, cause they're after my life. But the joke's on them. 'Cause the moment I felt my soul die, I stopped caring. It's kinda like I'm free. Now that it's gone, I don't miss it. No guilt, no regret, no loyalty, nothin'. I feel kinda hollow, I guess, but pretty soon I don't think I'll even remember what that means. Now, you know a lot about me I really don't care for you to know, but you were useful, so I won't have ya killed. Hey, I should thank ya', I guess, but it looks like gratitude don't mean much to me now, either.

Uh... Go back and reread the NPC dialogue at the end of that mission.
As for the Wailers, I hate fighting them but not because they are irritating in some way. They are just relentlessly *bland*. And if you do Hardcase's missions it's ten levels of all-Wailers all-the-time .

They are just as tiny, they are relentless, they come out of the woodwork from every direction and they spawn in droves. They are irritating little brats to say the least.
I just did the mission after the Wailer Lord where you save the 4 Mu Magii. My god, just as you clear an area 6 more would spawn on top of you.

I find them a nice break from Council/Arachnos/Longbow/Freakshow missions. And they are funny when they come to get you. Seems like most of his missions cause a wailer ambush.

from the wiki page:
Ambush! Rescuing a Mu Mystic will result in three waves of ambushes by Wailers, resulting in a total of twelve ambushes.
Taking a Mu Mystic to the obelisk will result in four silent waves of auto-lock-on ambushes of Wailers, who have the ability to follow you all over the map, resulting in a total of sixteen ambushes, combined with the above will be a grand total of twenty-eight ambushes (!) for one single mission.
I love that mission, but yes it can get old by the end of it

Aye, that mission. Fun but dear gods was it a pain. My SG was on Vent and the cries of "another ambush" "WTF, again???" were plentiful.
I gotta say I love the way the wailers walk, just so darn cute.

Initial attacks by Wailers may be "incredibly weak" but these are Sonic blasts they use. If you don't defeat them quickly, they'll stack -Res debuffs on you and you won't think them too weak when the fight goes something like this:
1st volley - "heh, that kinda tickled but my health is still over 90%"
2nd round - "whoa, that was a big dip to yellow health"
3rd round - "I think I'll rez at the base to pick up some purple insps..."
This is especially pronounced when you team on that mission and YOU happen to be the ambush's target. If they get the drop on you
My invuln brute loved to pound on them. My /willpower brute gets shredded by them.

Just finished that mission for Johnny last night. Thing I hate most about the wailers is that they LOVE to stay at a distance and shoot --- herding them requires a corner or other means of FORCING them to move closer together. It's so frustrating to have juicy PBAOE attacks and auras ready to use and only ONE little blighter in range. :P

I found that Wailer Lords have an Achelles Heel for sapping. Since that's my forte, I love taking them on...And then they rez, and I get more stuff out of them.
