Over the last 4 mos. or so I have seen the Chronal Skip salvage range from 200k-2.5 million.

I wouldn't worry much if it's hitting 1 million. Also, just put up buy number you are comfortable with and be patient. You might just get it for the 200k you think is fair. If not, whatever the market is bearing...you will have to pay if you must have it asap.

This is all well and good for you guys who have been playing for awhile, but for the new guy (or returning guy) AE was great because it broke the market and the strangle hold the REAL farmers had on it. Now that its not so easy for me to get tickets I have to resort to the market but I never had a bank roll to begin with. Needless to say my toons are not tricked out with IO sets and probably never will.

You haven't learned the basics of the market. This is not the market's fault. This is not the marketeer's fault- we put together a lot of guides for you and you didn't read any of them.

I'm going to work on my "IO's on any budget" guide now.

The point that everyone is trying to make is you don't need to spend 10 hours a day playing to profit from the market. You can do it on around 30 mintues, or less, a day. I have a level 25 brute that is sitting on 600+ million, all made from crafting and selling common IOs. I run about 4 missions a month with him; just enough to cover base rent.

Back in the days when we had to walk to WW uphill in the snow, I IO'ed (no purples, no uniques) my empathy defender for under 30 million. I was astonished how cheap and easy it was, mostly due to the apparent cluelessness of others.

I got a lvl 50 Miracle:Heal recipe as a drop. Well, I exemp alot so I don't want level 50 IO's. I want my set bonuses down to at least level 35. I put the lvl 50 recipe on the market and it sold for 5 million. With that 5 million, I was able to buy FIVE RECIPES from the Miracle set (including the Heal one) around level 30 *AND* all the needed salvage. I was flabbergasted.

Needless to say (but I'll say it anyway for anyone new to the markets), when I was making my purchases, I was flexible about what level to buy and was willing to wait several days or a week for my bids to go through. I don't play the 'buy it nao' game.

IO'ing a toon for under 30 million..... now THAT'S cheap.

P.S. My goal was increased recovery in place of Stamina. I got +34% recovery with no uniques or purples, plus global recharge, global accuracy and global heal bonus.

um....
ya.. I, pretty much understand that I do not have to play the game for 10 hours straight in order to become rich
What I was saying was that summers coming, school will be out, and I'll have more time to play, enabling me to do TFs more frequently, rewarding me with merits and thus buying the expensive crap with merits...

... I wasn't saying that it takes 10 hours a day to make a profit
I'm completely aware of the fact that in only a few minutes, you can be earning loads...

You missed it. Blessing: KB prot were down to around ~3M at one point, and I got a small pile of them blue and redside for about that. I saw them going for ~555k here and there, but those were more anomalies I think. The market is all about timing.

[/ QUOTE ]
I was there for it. Bought over 20 BotZ: KB Prot recipes for a total of just under 35M. I saw prices crashing, put in super-lowball bids, left the character for almost a week, came back, ???, profit! Even managed to pick up a couple high-30s for <200K per recipe.

I was pretty sure the devs didn't plan on letting meow farming continue, and that scarcity of some sort would hit again. So far, I've made over 150M (gross, not sure how much total I spent on recipes, salvage, and crafting) from my crafted KB, and haven't sold even a dozen yet.

I visited WW last night and I must say it's been a while but since I got one of my Defenders to 47 I wanted to get a few IOs. Well I got pretty much what I wanted but when I started to look up the salvage I almost puked on the screen when I saw pneumatic piston going for 50K and others that never got over 1K going for 100K. Man things have changed quickly.

You're crazy sir. everyone knows if you cant buy it immediately then something is wrong with the market and all marketeers need to be punished for making it so hard for the victimized casual player to get his purples. :P

I think I can say with relative certainty that Pneumatic Piston goes for that price (at times) because it's the - Tech, Tier3, Uncommon Salvage that's called for in the "Increase Recovery" Empowerment Buff.

It's much the same with the 2 commons needed for that Buff, and although they are common, they're also used in High-level Common IO's.

So, all three of those pieces of salvage (at times) tend to feel the effects of "by it NOW" pricing. Especially a week or so ago - during the initial MA/AE craze...

It is so easy to get a bank roll, though. I took a blaster with 5K (yes, 5 thousand, NOT million), bought a few Perfect Zinger procs (and other way oversupplied stuff) for 555, resold for 1.5-2M, and repeated with slightly more expensive stuff (buying for 55-100K and reselling for 2-5M). Within 2 weeks, and only logging in on him 4-6 times, I had nearly 80 million.

That happens to be FOUR times the amount I started with, when I came back to the game at the end of 2007. I went from being a total Market newbie, to over 4 billion in Inf (and having a purpled out Scrapper) heroside, and 1.5 billion in Inf (and a Brute and MM IO'd out, minus some purples) villainside. It took me 7-8 months, but I employed half or less of what I have read about in this forum.

Sure, it is possibly that you will not be able to do it. However, mine and the other success stories I have seen, show that it can be done.

I've seen people with it before, but I have no idea how to get it...

Dump on the casual player more please? Let the asian (poor asians get a bad rap) continue farming your game and making cold hard cash. Good choice.

Farming wasn't affected by the AE nerf, everyone knows this right?

Running normal story based non-farming AE missions I can get around 1500 tickets in an hour easy. That's 3 rare salvage. How much more casual do you want?

they are.

the ticket drops are in proportion to the prices of things on the markets.

people use their tickets to get the salvage they need for their own rolls and only that.

no more "excess goes on the market for cheap" because there is no excess anymore... just scarcity.

strange, because so many patches were in place to increase and balance the rewards... this patch is like 180 from that.

simple math- less tickets = market prices increase.

scarcity breeds criminal behavior in society.

[/ QUOTE ]

I wouldn't go that far. Yes, prices will go up w/ fewer tickets awarded, but rare salvage is still relatively cheap in terms of tickets - that will limit the rise.
