Pole Sort of Topic - NO XP in Arcs.
No.
I see the Mission Architect as an alternative to running the same missions over and over and over. If we don't get XP, then there's absolutely no reason to do MA missions until you're level 50.
NO. I'm extremely against the idea of no XP for MA arcs. The whole point of the system is to have alternatives to the standard missions.
And as far as poles go, I'm fond of ski poles.
No
No. I love playing arcs for their stories, but I want my story with a side order of forward momentum on my characters.

I agree.
MA Arcs should *definitely* give XP, and full XP, at that.
No.
However, xp gained from the MA is going to trend steadily downwards. Might as well just nerf the hell out of all of it and be done with it now, rather than a year of patch notes saying "<x> has been adjusted to give less experience.".
No. I think having the xp awards in the MA are good. Now, would I be upset if the awards were somewhat less? no.
The MA represents "virtual reality" its not quite the same as "real" cox world, so having dimished returns on XP would not upset me.
however, I would want a boost in rewards somewhere else. The badges giving temp powers upon log in. half again as much debt gained (if you must gain debt in VR) from dying in the MA, etc.

I was on an SG team shortly after Ouroboros was introduced. We were doing the Pilgrim's opening arc, and by the second temporal scaling mission (the shivans) these people, who were otherwise quite reasonable, were just about ready to riot.
I enjoy playing content for its own sake, but I think for a lot of people, if it's not granting XP, or it's not level capped, then it might as well not exist.
So I'd have to say that no, a zero xp Mission Architect is a terrible idea, due to the fact that I enjoy not being the only player in the game.
@Mindshadow
I would be cool with it so only if there was some sort of reward for it. Such as when you exemp for Oro arcs. Merits, influ, etc.
Really it doesn't matter how good the content is if it can't progress a character in some way. And to me, another badge isn't progress.
<sigh> Viv says its no longer "all me".

Thats a strange question to pose. Of course the answer is no. The devs already thought about this for a longtime before even making AE. They recognized people would not play AE and they would have wasted almost a year of developing content that nobody uses, which of course would be mindnumbingly stupid on their part.
The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.
First off, if you think about it, it's not the XP that should be nerfed. It's the influence.
Why?
Because in theory, you could learn quite a bit from a super realistic virtual reality machine.
But why on Earth would you gain Influence (for your heroic actions, the currency of CoH) for things that never happened? It would be like us getting famous in real life for being superheroes because we play CoH. It doesn't reduce crime or rescue people in the 'real life' of Paragon city, any more than I'm reducing crime in D.C. by taking down virtual villains.
I certainly wouldn't get paid for playing a game. Neither should superheroes.
So, experience, sure. INFLUENCE, no.

Second, I think you mean a "poll sort of topic". A "pole sort of topic" hopefully includes a fist full of dollar bills, adult beverages and dancer gyrating to bad music.
Well they could just make so the exp was fixed for missions based off the objectives, the mobs themselves were worth nothing, only tickets. People can mow do whatever mobs they like, but only get something for the mission itself exp wise. Seems like a workable solution, but Im sure people would hate it heh.

People would not play MA if they took away inf, thats just silly to propose such a thing.

You realize that an advertised "feature" of MA is being able to "level" 1-50 right.
This line of thinking and that of th OP really don't make any sense.

Hell no, that completely destroys any desire for a large portion of the playerbase to even use the MA. You could write the best story in the world, but if I'm not advancing my character while playing it, I don't give a crap.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."

AE has provided an alternative for leveling lowbies that doesn't make me groan with boredom. I'd much rather help Frostfire save his little brother's bizzare troll-crossed romance or what have you than go beat up Frostfire for the 8 bajillionth time.

I love the MA as it is, with or without farming. I dont want it to be nerfed in any way. I'm glad they nerfed comm. officers, cause that was ridiculous, but that's all.
No.
If there's no XP, the stories won't get played. I sort of feel like I'm wasting my time if I play a mission that won't give me XP -- there's no way I'd lead a pickup group or even a group of my friends through missions that wouldn't give XP. It's just mean.
I think if worst comes to worst with the farming, there are ham-handed things the devs could do that fall way short of that -- like, 'you can't get XP faster than X in mission architect' or something.
If you take out the XP then I'm would only play the MA arcs on level 50 characters as there is some reward for them. No XP is pointless for the characters I'm trying to level up.
I am whole heartily against removing the XP. I would rather they balance it correctly. I would even accept certain limits on the xp and how it is gained, say half xp for the mobs and then when you actually finish the arc you get bonus xp equal to what you earned. This would make players actually finish the stories instead of abandoning them. You could also cap the amount of XP based on Length of Mission, Difficulty Level and computed "Challenge Rating" of the mission, and which mission number it is in the arc (first mission doesn't give out as much as the second and so on). I would also be fine if they added XP debt into the MA system which is the single biggest reason in my mind for playing even crappy arcs because there is no risk involved,
So I am curious, a simple Yes or No from people and maybe a little comment... but mainly just Yes/No...
Would you be okay with NO XP in Arcs?
Originally I thought they said MA wouldn't give XP, as their way to prevent "Farming" but of course we all know they let XP be gained.
I personally think Zero XP would be fine. I mean, we play Arcs for the Stories correct? You play to enjoy the content someone made, missions, characters, comedy...
and besides, gaining Prestige, Inf. and Tickets to me is more then enough. Heck, I wouldn't care if you only gained Tickets but that's just because of my strong way of thinking that MA should be about enjoying stories.
In any case, as sort of a "Pole" I'd like to know what you all think about gaining no XP in Arcs.
Yes or No?
