what detail di you put in that no one will notice
My arc follows the ancient hermetic process of initiation and the enemies are typical of an initiate's battles within the psyche. No one but a person who is knowledgeable of real-world occultism or jungian psychology would understand the scope and value of the story.
The arc is called 'The Rites of Initiation'.
I've watched Doctor Who since it first came out Decades ago!
Try my 3 MArcs: I.D.#67166:Protect the Artifacts!! I.D.#97724:Level-Up Time. I.D.#243803:Witch War! Salem vs. Croatoa!
The Albatross is a reference to The Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, and a scene in the movie adaptation of the short-lived television show Firefly. My idea was that the person at the epicenter of everything, was the cause of something good and represented a force for good, but when humanity betrayed it, it changed into the symbol of something that could easily return the favor and hurt them all deeply.
But, so far the meaning behind the title has been missed and I can't really blame people for it, since I never really point it out.
My Slasher Movie Arc (Duality - 84105), has the names of numerous other famous slasher films from the 60s -today contained within the text.

I have a mission in Oranbega (boo, I know...wusses) where you are looking for a book and there are several false bookcases. Each one has a different book with a humorous title or content but you'd only notice if you look in the system chat log.

I played that arc. I remember laughing about that. Good show.
I named a destructible object (a computer) "Please don't hurt me". What no one will notice is that the Ambush that spawns when you destroy it is labeled within the MA as "Nice Job Breaking It, Hero".
A cookie to whoever knows what that's a reference to =P
-STEELE =)
Allied to all sides so that no matter what, I'll come out on top!
Oh, and Crimson demands you play this arc-> Twisted Knives (MA Arc #397769)

The trope is strong with this one.
I have at least one of my characters in each of my arcs as either a ally or enemy. Most people won't recognize them but when I played one arc with some friends and they saw who the EB was for the mission several went "Oh crap!"
I have some ghostly pirate patrols singing the Pirates of the Caribbean theme song, "Hoist the Colours". Each patrol sings another line of the song
"Yo ho, haul together hoist the colours high!"
"Heave-ho, theives and beggars never shall we die!"
One of the named knights you fight in my below named arc is named Sir Robin. When you start fighting him, he yells, "Run Away!" and propmtly does so.
Let's see... I put a "Dr. Dibbley" into one of my arcs. He is reciting a list of things he needs to take with him if he's kidnapped, although I left out some items due to the teen rating. "... you never know!"
I based the NPC text of one of my bosses off of GTA:San Andreas, specifically Ryder.
One of my arcs makes loose references to Euripides "the Bacchae"....
... and another pays homage to a section of these very forums.
How eclectic is that?
"City of Heroes. April 27, 2004 - August 31, 2012. Obliterated not with a weapon of mass destruction, not by an all-powerful supervillain... but by a cold-hearted and cowardly corporate suck-up."
It may be noticed, but most won't get it.
I put in the name of the person who requested Spiderling MK Becky in her dialogue.
On the mission not complete text, on my first arc "Coup d' Etat @ home, Click on the contact and I have a "Star Wars" reference.

"Oh, he is brave Sir Robin..." Nice!
Dec out.
My arc involves my SG and VG and as such there are several bits of dialog in there that can stand on their own, but have added flavor if you know the member of the SG they are named after. One in particular is a non-required boss spawn named after an SG mate who has a knack for falling asleep at the keyboard during TFs. The boss says something about being tired and having his cohorts wake him up if something exciting happens.
There's a computer in the first mission of my arc that someone has been playing NetHack on... poorly.
In my new arc (#129684: Cavallo, the Colossus, and the Charm of the Sorceress), the PC villains steal an ancient amulet from where it was buried by Greek sailors. When they have it, ghosts attack and yell at them in Greek. The text looks very cool and ancient.
I *hope* no one understands what it would say translated, since I simply ran babel fish on gripping input text like YO DUDE DO NOT STEAL THAT AMULET.

did you use Ancient Greek or modern Greek - they are very different
Babel Fish only does modern, I think.
The point is that it's a "hidden" detail if you can't read Greek - and if you can, it's ruined anyway
One of the NPCs in my "Hentai" arc has a pet gerbil on her shoulder named Gere in honor of a certain gerbil-related urban legend.
In my 1941-set Ashley Porter and the Gorilla War, the two Nazi bad guys are named Major Wolfgang Hochstetter and Colonel Albert Burkhalter, from Hogan's Heroes (and what's even sadder, I followed the timeline that had Burkhalter only promoted to general after the show's pilot.)
On top of that, their organization is "Abwehr Section 2," from the "Silent Storm" games. And the U.S. Army Intelligence officer named in text is "Colonel Darnell," who was Steve Trevor's boss in Golden Age Wonder Woman stories....

Think beyond TV Tropes and consider the trope NAMER =P

Several of my NPCs have names with hidden meanings. Or maybe, not so hidden.
<ul type="square">[*]a captive catgirl named Abby Schrodinger.[*]an aggressive fiery fairy-girl with the name Nina Ross (from both Spanish and Italian)[*]Alex Maxton (a very inside reference about a shapeshifting character I wrote about in Junior High)[*]Josephine RĂªvenoir's last name[*]"Praenuntius" (the Cimeroran emperor who commissioned the Copper Legion) is taken from Latin, of course.[/list]
Also, in my next arc I plan to use the IDs and souvenirs from arcs I like as some inside jokes in a warehouse. At the top of a (currently) short list is "Lot #1567: an emerald statuette"
Rise of the Copper Legion (#60280; with soundtrack)
The Fractured Dreamer (#498588; with musical theme)
"Now Leaving: Paragon City": original composition for the end of CoH
