In my arc people are being kidnapped. They all have names.

In mission 1 you rescue a man called David Booth - who asks if you have seen his wife Emily. In mission 3 you rescue kidnapping victims - including Emily Booth who asks if you have seen her husband.

Another victim you rescue asks about someone else - you find them later but they are dead.

And a head nurse you rescue gives a list of other nurses missing - some you prevent the kidnapping in that mission, others you rescue later, and some are never found.

Mine are mostly obscure references, like a T. Rex named Pete whose favorite dish is Cow Vindaloo.

The souvenir mentions the number 416, because that's how many pages Jurrasic Park has. I'd be floored if someone picked up on that.

I did put a few silly things in the arc I am creating just to see if anyone notices. Don't wanna say what since I'm curious if people will pick up on them.

One of the bosses in my arc says '...I made a pome!' after he accidentally rhymes some of his lines. Everyone notices it and informs me of my typo.

Except its not a typo, its a ridiculously obscure reference to the Molesworth books.

I really should just take it out, but it makes me laugh.

On the last Mission of my Arc the Contact Moto Nambu say "I pray for your success" that is what Dr. Nambu always says when he would send the Science Ninja Team on a mission.

I have one of the hellion leaders in my arc quote a phrase from an episode of Dr. Who.

Several different patrols each with their own chat
Several different battles each with their own chat

My whole arc is filled with unique chat.

And in the mission 15 battles. They end too fast for the player to encounter them all, the players might run into two if they're lucky. It makes for something nifty to find on replay.

The NPC ally that I have join the player throughout my arch actually has a different, relevant description in every mission.

Not even my friend, who loves story elements, who I had help test and check for spelling, had forgotten to right click->info her.

The arc is named "Welcome to the Dimensional Security Forces - Academy Training Simulator" Arc ID is 111152, it's only a one liner on the final boss of the final mish, but if you have watched the newer seasons you should be able to spot it fairly easily.

that makes me think (which is a good thing sometimes)

I'll start a new thread on my new idea

Oringinally there were two Valkyrja in Challenge from the Norse Gods. They were homage to two main characters from a certain RPG series I have loved since its creation.

One of the last bosses in the same mission uses Energy Blast -- A similar homage to the same game.

Odin mentions "The War." He's still alive, so he can't be talking about Ragnarok. Maybe he's talking about the Aesir-Vanir War?

Tyr has a mechanical arm.

Balder's appearance doesn't fit with the rest of the bosses. It's a parody of the idea that he's beloved by everyone, and at the same time a "momma's boy."

The contact "gives" you the weapon you need to take Balder down.

I'm sure there's more, but there's a few from me. :P

Electron Elly and Task Force Superawesome in my Fusionette Task Force.

EE is an extremely loose homage to a friend's character who uses lightning based powers and is named Elly

Team Superawesome was the name our scavenger Hunt team adopted this year in our yearly SG scavenger hunt

As if many of the names weren't enough, nearly all my custom enemies have descriptions that contain dead giveaways to what kind of powers they have. Still people act surprised when a LT named "Archer" starts shooting Trick Arrows at them.

In my first arc I had a few fun phrases for "Boss defeats player" text, which, if the player isn't ever defeated, will not be seen for non-pet archetypes (who will see it for each pet defeated). My favorite?

Tyrant: Your stuffed corpse will look fabulous on my hilariously oversized mantle.

in the first 3 missions of my arc i have a random patrol in Chimera ninjas talking about a "ninja parade" and talking about not being seen. In the 4th mission you get to fight Chimera.

I need to do some tweaking to the arc but it is published. Arc 69582.

I have a mission in Oranbega (boo, I know...wusses) where you are looking for a book and there are several false bookcases. Each one has a different book with a humorous title or content but you'd only notice if you look in the system chat log.

The third mission in my arc is subtitled "Keep it together, $name!" - which is a reference to a part of an LRSF cutscene that has now been edited out. (Manticore used to say it to Sister Psyche while literally shooting himself in the foot with an arrow. It was pure Narm.)

And for a while things were cold,
They were scared down in their holes
The forest that once was green
Was colored black by those killing machines

I've put a number of non-essential objectives in each of my arc's missions, each of which has their own clue text. There are also a few patrols in which its members have these little discussions about whatever is on their minds. <_<

The Union organizer in my Strike! arc is from Local 151, a reference to an R.E.M. song.

Nobody will ever, ever, ever notice that.

In my current work-in-progress? The title of every mission is also the name of an Iced Earth song.

I don't know about no one. There's more than a few references in mine that only people who know me and my characters (primarily my SG) will get, but you don't need to get them to appreciate the arc. It's just "extra".

I really doubt that anyone will get all the "Arts" references I put in Teh Freakshow Artz Klub. Heck, I don't even get some of them and I wrote it.

But some people have picked up on some pretty obscure stuff, and from the responses I've had, people are enjoying it no matter how many of the references they catch. After all, there's just something inherently entertaining about Freakshow Haiku.
