Quote:Thank you for describing everything I was about to say in regards to this. While I am surprised that new costume items are appearing with this update (and that's definitely a good thing), I am like you, rather sad about the deletion of magic. This seems to be a theme across comicdom as well; a testament to how virulently the cult of technology (so-called science) has come to rule people's lives and dreams. Alas...Magic doesn't seem to really be a part of this universe, from what I can tell (admittedly, I didn't do all the arcs, saving some to do next week on live), and that absence appears to be deliberate. Do any Praetorian foes drop magic enhancements?
Hopefully future updates (the incarnates update, perhaps) will explain what's up with Magic in Praetoria, and at that time I HOPE we'll get new magic parts to use. But if the next costumes we get are even yet still more highly-detailed metallic armor set, I think I'll scream... well, all I'll probably do is ragepost again, but you get the idea. -
Same issue, though when I log in to server selection Freedom is just now available with one green - might have been an all-servers restart. If so, the rest should be up in a few mins.

Thank you for the help with this. It turned out that the times I was getting the error message was because of what you said - using CCE without a second argument. The other problem I experienced was when the macro simply didn't do anything, and that was because I was using cce properly, but wrote ccNinjaLeap instead of ccNinjaJump, which is what it wants.
Two mistakes in one.. :S
Anyways, thank you for the quick responses! -
Ok, I don't know why this would happen, but when I try to use a costume change emote made with this macro:
/macro Cos1 "emote none$$cce 1"
or
/macro Cos1 "cce 1"
I get the error: "Unknown command: cce 1"
This happens no matter what costume slot I assign for the change, or whether I use a costume change emote or not - right now I just want a macro that changes my costume, I will worry about the emote later. But this is just not possible.
*I have tried all variations of these commands with CC instead of cce, but its the same error.
*I am testing with NO powers or toggles running.
Has anyone else had this problem, or is it just me (account, install, cache, etc)? -
Those features don't help me find the kind of criteria I outlined in my post.

I think there needs to be a website, kind of like a combination of 'Rate your Professor' and a travel agency, where you can see a more sensible array of categories for player-made arcs.
That way if I want farming arcs, I can go to the farming arc category. If I want quality comic-genre story arcs, I can look there. If I want high-challenge missions, romances, mythological themes, mind-benders, cliffhangers, surprise endings, CoH Lore tie-ins, and so on... I can find them in a list of recommended or submitted titles.
The only thing that the current star-ratings is telling me is how many people clicked on something that already had stars, that its good for farming, or how popular the arc was among the devs and their friends at launch.
I'm sure there are tons of excellent stories in there to be played, but there is no way we will ever find them except by accident.
Would anyone else be interested in a more useful AE index? And by 'interested' I mean both using it and working on it (if it were a fansite). -
My arc follows the ancient hermetic process of initiation and the enemies are typical of an initiate's battles within the psyche. No one but a person who is knowledgeable of real-world occultism or jungian psychology would understand the scope and value of the story.
The arc is called 'The Rites of Initiation'. -
Thanks for the props folks! I was thrilled to see everyone who entered, great pics
This game has the coolest community.
There are so many MMOs out there, but nothing else I've seen allows the level of individual diversity and creativity that this game does. Even if your into comic art already, you get to breathe life into your ideas with CoH - that was the case with Dark-Hammer. -

Awesome! THANK YOU Lighthouse!!
Gonna go rock out on some missions now

You will find it in the last paragraph.
To me, its not about patience, I could wait all year to see the results of this - its about professional behavior. 30 seconds out of your day to post a status message lets people know things like - there is a delay, the event is cancelled, or whatever. Its a common courtesy in customer relations. -

You ever move? You ever move *an entire office*? This happening concurrently with I11 being on test and then live, the acquisition by NC going public.... chill out.

Yes, I am a professional and I have done major transitions before. The key activity to remember during a move or a transition is communication. If you don't provide a status, which is a common courtesy in development, IT, business, etc, then you the lose trust of your peers and customers, and it becomes harder and harder to work with them in the future. -
I'm still trying to figure out how a meet & greet trumps (and continues to trump, days after the event) an official, 3rd annual CoH contest.
Have things gotten so elitist that hob-nobbing is more important than stated deadlines on something that involves the whole community?

Hob nob: The name comes from an earlier phrase, to hob or nob, meaning "to drink together, taking turns toasting one another" -

..uh, maybe I spoke too soon? -
I have a suggestion that would apply to the current Weapon Customizations...
The Bow customizations seem to follow origin - you have some conventional (natural) bows, an arcane (magic) bow, and a compound (technology) bow.
I am very interesting in seeing Origin become more meaningful (even if its just by appearance at first), so I suggest adding a 'Mutation' bow customization.
Basically, this would be a bow/texture that looks like a living organism; It would be a recurve style with bone handle and tips, but the limbs of the bow would resemble raw muscle tissue. You could blend the red fibers to the bone parts with white ligaments, and maybe graft an eyeball into the front part of the handle, kind of where you put the laster sight on the tech bow.
That would be interesting not only as an option for real mutants, but may also look nice for zombie masterminds or dark/archery combo. -

No kidding! This is the first year I wasn't able to participate, so now I'm having to experience this vicariously.

Hey Avonlea, long time no see! I was wondering if you were still here, glad to see you are !
There is nothing else quite like getting to be a hero. I've accepted that fact that I'm probably a lifer when it comes to this game, and I know plenty of others who are too -
Just thought I would post this news - for those who are only watching this thread for Costume Contest updates.

Don't sweat it, there will probably be something today. So far no Halloween contest has ever evaporated

Woohoo! Thank you Pants_Stealer, I totally spaced that.

I have a question, Lighthouse -
I am going to run again in the contest this year, but the character I am dressing up as will be changing slightly when Issue 11 comes out - that is, he will be getting a weapon modification (he's a mace tank).
I have designed the costume to match this, but since I can't take a screenshot of him with the weapon modification now, it would only appear in my costume photo.
Is this allowed, or will it count against him as (not the same look as the screenshot)?
Thank you,

Just one question. What are the special titles that the winners received?
[/ QUOTE ]
No idea on that yet. I think they have to talk to the dev teams to get those figured out. Will be interesting to see -
Wow, thanks everyone so much for all the support and props!
And congratulations to the winners, and everybody that became a hero for this contest. I expect the next event will have as much talent and coolness as this one did, and I'm looking forward to it.
See you in game!
