I do think it would only be fair for a GM to e-mail you and inform you that you arc was banned and why. (I assume that they don't do this because otherwise you wouldn't be asking this question.) I'm sure you'd get at least that courtesy if you were generic'd.

Yeah, the customer service for MA is abysmal right now. Normal GMs can't do a thing, and you don't get an email stating specific reasons why it was banned.

Read the EULA and you will probably figure it out.

No Drug references, no sex references, no racial remarks, no copywritten (non-COH) names, no obscenities (this is one has a VERY wide net, poopy probably qualifies) and so on and so on. A LOT of people fall down on the drug references and get genericized for it.

If someone reports it GM will uphold it. Otherwise you will usually be ignored. Imagine you are writting for a 5 year old. If it is not appropriate for a 5 year old they don't want to see it. (Nevermind that the game is rated for teens. )

Well, there was a complaint on my arc that it said it was banned because Farming Missions give an artificial advantage.

Except "A Farming Tale" doesn't give any artificial advantage. The name was chosen to make fun of the panic about "I14 will be used for farming" during test, but it's just a silly arc that takes place on a farm. It even got hit with Dev Choice.

Well, it got blocked on Friday, I sent a petition asking for it to be looked at again and editing the description to make it clear it wasn't a farm mission. After maintenance I logged in, and it was gone.

Very annoying. Apparently the word "farm" was enough to get it killed.

Yep, heard this one before. Had it happen to me. "Old McDonald's Farm" definately did not give any sort of advantage for playing it (come on, who farms Croatoa maps?) but still got smacked.

Non-farm missions that jokingly refer to farms (because that's where they're set) are getting yanked because of the real farm missions.

And the farmers say their behavior doesn't impact other players.

My arc had many complaints, because it is a borderline copyright issue. I have worked hard to keep it from infringing on copyrights and yet keep the humor.

Last Weekend it was banned, So I opened a ticket with support and ask them many questions. It was reviewed on Monday and Support told me that it passed and was available to play as is.

I still have that long list of complaints, but it is good to know that it passed.

So, I'm trying to figure out how an arc that violates the rules can become a Dev's Choice arc, and how a Dev's Choice arc can be banned. Anyone?

Now we need a "Report Report-Button Exploiter" button so we can farm that too!

Im gueeisng it was one of the Dev's Choice on test that wasn't brought over to live as a DC. Republished on live it runs into the issue.

Does that mean mentioning a particular drug or is any reference to drugs (generic) or addiction going to be a problem? I mean, the game is full of references like that.

Bah, All I see is the standard Rules of Conduct that says "You may not use sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive language." and an additional in the release notes about attempting to bypass the profanity filter.

Drugs aren't mentioned in either place that I can find.

In other topics, you complain about the farmers ruining your game and you yell GMs should stop them... and when GMs listen to you by stopping them and yanking your arc at the same time, you blame the farmers again using this as your example of them ruining your game.

Self-fulfilling prophecy... I'm on to you, sir.

Sorry. It got dev choiced on the test server, not on live. I asked it not be considered for carrying over to live...it's a fun silly arc, not the standards I think a Dev Choice arc should have.

So I posted it on live, and it got banned from live.

Yep, exactly my point. But he was obviously paraphrasing from memory because there is no such prohibition that I can find.

I was going to address this one too.

The endless threads by anti-farmers have an effect too. Don't act surprised when a Dev response to the complaining over-reaches at times. If you guys would do like I do you would never see a farm and would have enough arcs to play to keep you busy until Christmas. There are so many out there it's insane. I play on Freedom too so there isn't a good excuse. If you can't find the channel for arcs, the zones that aren't crowded, and the thread on this board for arcs....then you just aren't trying at all and I suspect your motives.

Another side effect is the rest of losing out on cool stuff in the future like the ability to place spawns where we want. The board overreaction does have consequences.

My arc was pulled as well. I jokingly mentioned the word "farm" in the description since it was mainly a test missions with a mediocre plot, and it was banned at about 1 AM on Saturday night. I received a very generic paragraph stating that farm missions are designed to give an unfair statistical advantage, and not allowed. I republished the same mission with the word "farm" removed, and it has remained online.

I suspect that either a bot is going through and banning missions with the word farm, or humans CS reps are searching on the term and banning fairly indiscriminately.

Let's see, a bunch of people engage in exploitive behavior, i.e "Farm Missions". I then make a mission making fun of these people. It gets pulled despite the fact that it violates no rules. Primarily becasue the people engaging in behavior that violates the rules have done so in such volume that the GMs can't make decisions on a case-by-case basis.

And this is all MY fault.

I can't use Snake Eggs in a Mission because farmers would use them in an exploitive fashion. Same thing for certian Rikti, Cimorian Medics, Council Transformation Chambers, etc.

And it's all MY fault.

They yanked end of mission XP/Inf bonuses.

And it's all MY fault.

Wrong target.
Blame the people actually responsible, please.

Oh, and another thing you should know, my mission that got banned was Arc #2000 something. Published the first day MA went live.

It got smacked the next day.

Long before I started complaining about farm missions.

I used the word Farming on purpose as a joke I used a croata map since it best simulates a real farm.

I created a custom group and there are not enough mobs to be a real farming mission

I mean a lot of the toons of plant; ice, storm some sonic etc

I mean corn on the cob; winter wheat; Farmers Wife harvester with a shovel winter storm

I knew it get banded by name alone

I always fine it funny that people ban things or report it without ever playing it

Just out of curiosity, how do you tell if your arc has had a complaint against it? Well, aside from it being banned. I've flagged a few arcs for blatant copyright infringement, and they weren't immediately yanked, so I'm guessing someone actually reviews the complaint to see if it's legitimate, before banning it.
