So my first attempt at an arc is kind of silly but...

Arc Name: Save the Music
Arc ID: 16460
Faction: Custom
Creator Global Name:@Arsenic's Rage
Synopsis: The rivalry between the Radio and the TV has gone too far! The TV has sent his mindless drones to kill the music and silence the Radio forever. He must be stopped.
Estimated Time to Play: 3 missions: 20-30 minutes

Definitely can be soloed, but I've heard it gets real rough at the highest challenge level. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, along with any suggestions to make it better or any grammar/spelling errors! It's gotten about 30 reviews so far but I'm working on both the "player rated" and "player completed" badges so if you get bored

Re-running, challenge level 2, lvl 50 ill/rad 'troller.

Mission 1: Well, I still don't care for this mission at all. The map fits the story for sure, but it is just not all that fun. Suggestion: I see some missions where the hostage is held up in a big green glow. This might help if you can figure out how it is done.

Mission 2: Interesting text from this other world Synapse. I don't trust him one bit!!! Well at first I was hating these enemies. They are tougher than anything in the regular game. But as this mission went on, I began to appreciate how well done they were and enjoyed the challenge. The only problem seems to be there are more computers in the mission to click on than the mission compass indicates. Also in the mission conclusion with Synapse, he talks as if he was right there with you inspecting what you found, when earlier in the story it seemed like he was communicating with you over some radio transmission. Perhaps I read this wrong?

Mission 3: Story getting very interesting. I guess I do trust this other world Synapse....we'll see though. Great mission, the final room was very cool. I saved Manticore and didn't even know I was fighting the group that was guarding him - this might be something you can't control, how the baddies are placed in the room. Made for a fun fight though.

Despite the first mission, this aarc got better and better as it went along. Although I feel they are overpowered a bit, and some might disagree, they are still a great custom enemy group. Very nice costumes and theme - looks like something that would actually be in the game.

5 stars and can't wait for the next installment. I hope you will PM me when it is up so I don't miss it. Just think about changing the map on mission 1.

Thanks for the positive feedback, I'm glad you like the Arc and my enemy group

While I also want to make the captives more visible in the first mission, the whole "green glow" ala Circle of Thorns rituals just doesn't seem to fit my enemy group. I'll look and see if I can find something else, though.

Glad to hear you warmed up to my enemy group in the second mission, but the reason there are so many computers in the mission is because the clues you get from the ones you don't have to click on flesh out the story a little bit. It sounds like you didn't check your clues to see them, though. Also, in the return dialog, Synapse is inspecting what you found in his reality as he's talking to you, but I can see where the confusions comes from. To be honest, I thought it was a bit awkward when I was writing it, but I wanted the player to be able to hear Synapse's reaction.

Thanks for the review!

Thanks so much for the review!

Well... I've been busy with another arc. I don't know if you have a one per person rule or not. But I'll just post it here, incase you wanna give it a go. Or for anyone for that matter. This is less dark than my previous arc. I focused more on adventure and fun on this one.

It's something I call...

Arc Name: Pandas vs. Rikti
Arc ID: 68930

Faction: Heroic
Creator Global/Forum Name: @Shadow-Rush / Shadowrush
Difficulty Level: Medium
Level Range: 30-50

Synopsis: In a parallel universe, Earth is populated by sentient pandas. They've been invaded by Rikti, and they are losing. Using an ancient device to interface with our Architect system... they are asking for your help.

Notes: Story-Driven. Adventure. Some comedy. Solo-friendly. Only one EB. Also fun for teams. 4 missions.

Estimated Time to Play: 45-60 minutes

Arc Name: Dr. Dave and the Copper Legion
Arc ID: 60280
Length: Very Long

Synopsis: An expedition to Cimerora uncovers and ancient weapon which -- in the wrong hand -- could destroy all of Paragon City. Plenty of mystery, some danger, and an obscure CoH villain.

I did read the clues - and I kinda get what is going on, but it is not totally clear. Perhaps the next installment will make things a little easier to understand. I felt like the clues were supposed to be a little cryptic though - either that or it just went over my head, which is totally possible, knowing me.

I saw a mission last night that had an orangy glow around the captives. This might fit in perfect with your theme. It was almost like an orange colored electric cage of some sort.

I am actually starting to run low on reviews, so anybody please feel free to post yours. Soloable arcs preferred, any length.

This is not required for me to review your arcs, but if you are reading this thread and haven't given either of mine a try, please feel free and send feedback. Thanks.

Here is the arc that does a good job of using an outdoor map, but making it fairly painless to locate the captives.

3369: Matchstick Women, mission 2 (I think - its the only outdoor mission)

Exploring the Architect #1: Whack-a-Mole. A bit more advertising on this one, but hasn't gotten a whole lot of reviews just yet, like 3-4.

Mission 1: OK, pretty clever. I only got 4, but I wasn't playing one of my quicker killing machine toons. Oh, and I failed! How many do you have to kill to win?

Great idea, and very nice of you to use it as a training tool in the City Scoop.

5 stars for the community service and for the unique idea.

I've been so busy promoting my arcs (only midly successfully, generally positive, but only 8 and 17 ratings) that I'm losing track of things like this. I'm glad you liked Whack a Mole! It was fun to make and I spent more time on it than I expected to. There are 5 moles, it's supposed to count them down, but it's currently bugged. My next one is coming this fri, same ID #, check the Scoop.

3369: Matchstick Women - 3 missions, one AV/EB (standard diff w/no defense sets) Story is about a strange group of women arsonists and their leader. As told by a mysterious flame. A variety of mission objectives with hopefully nothing too annoying.

[/ QUOTE ]

Mission 1: I haven't seen a story arc start quite like that before. Interesting. As for the mission, bizarre, yet pretty cool. First of all, I don't ever remember seeing that map before, it is very cool. It sets the atmosphere for the mission.

Mission 2: OK, You did one thing great and then another not so great. First, you did an EXCELLENT job of making the hostages easy to spot on the outdoor map. Everybody who creates missions should run this, just to see how it should be done. However, after rescuing the hostages, THEN you get another objective, to kill the boss. I found him right away but I could see issues where once you feel you finished the mission, then you have to go back to places you already were to find the boss. Not a huge issue, but I would rather see the hostages being held captive by 4 different recruiter bosses. That is just my opinion.

Mission 3: Wow. That was a great 'twist' to the story. This story was like no other I have tried in MA.

The arc started out a little bizarre, but it has a very cool custom vilaain group, a unique contact, and the story evolves nicely in the 3rd and final mission. Terrific job.

5+ stars!

[/ QUOTE ]

Mission 1: just a matter of looking for maps "on fire", I'm pretty sure it's from a villainside arc, but I don't remember which one. And as for the first objective, I didn't realize it was going to look quite like that (you should see it on a big team), I can't take it out now, it's just too funny. (for those who haven't played it, first objective is a bomb "guarded" by council with the "Fire Marshal" animation, which I thought would have the extinguisher backpack. I didn't realize it also came with the large group of extinguisher backpacks next to him, and he's whistling loudly. On a large group, every mob has the large group of backpacks next to them)

Mission 2: I've had one other person mention the respawn on a large map, I think I will change that. Though I don't think you can add a boss to a rescue, can you? Just a group.

Glad you liked it, I hope my next serious arc turns out as well. Must decide if I want to try and do a fim noir style pulp crime story, or one of my character's origin story.

Mission 1: Not a bad mission, just not very engaging. Custom group was a bit bland. I like the radio and TV contacts in the game. This mission just didn't do them justice.

Mission 2: Pretty much more of the same. a rescue mission instead of a click the glowie mission. Nothing wrong with it, just not engaging.

Mission 3: This mission was a little more fun with all the allies and the group of bosses to fight.

Still, I can only give this arc a 3 star rating. It wasn't bad, but it just wasn't very intriguing to me.

Mission 1: Pandas? Ooh, a panda ring! A pretty standard Ritki mission on a ritki cave map. I do love the panda costumes. Not much else to say about it.

Mission 2: This mission moves the story along nicely. The boss spawned as a boss and my ally was also a boss. I would make the ally a Lt. if I were you. The boss fight was waaay too easy.

Mission 3: What the first two missions lacked in excitement, this one more than made up for it. Fighting evil pandas? Evil pandas that know martial arts? Gold, I tell you, GOLD! Again, I would think about making the Ally a Lt. instead of a boss though.

Mission 4: Fighting evil pandas are fun, but having a bunch on your team, using group invis and having stleath pandas fight for you is a blast. The final boss spawned as an EB, and I only picked up those allies I came across - I didn't seek out any. The fight ended up being a snap, so I guess I would still recommend making them all Lt's.

Overall, it was a fun story arc. It started a bit slow through the first two mission, but the last two were really very good. the custom group was brilliant, and I'll admit I didn't think I would be impressed with a group of pandas, but they were awesome!!

I'm torn between a 4 and 5 star rating on this arc. I'd give it a 4.5 f I could.....I think I am going to go with a 4 because the first two missions were just OK, then I want to go 5 because the last 2 missions were so fun.

OK, 5 stars, but not quite as good as your past efforts.

It is the (almost) full story of how the arc came to be so get a cup of your favorite and enjoy. You don't have to read the story to do the arc tho so don't worry!

I guess I'll toss my arc in because I really could sue some feedback. Yes I know it's 4 stars and has 9 ratings, but all of those are from before my most recent round of changes to the arc (changed some minor things in the second mission, and the bulk of the text in the final mission). And yeah, no custom enemy groups or bosses here, it's just my first (and so far only) attempt at an actualy story arc.

Mission 1: Well, to be honest the story is not very engaging yet. The mission was OK. Nice ambush when I rescued the hostage. Maybe I missed something, but I have no idea why the council was there. Mission objectives in the nav window need to be cleaned up.

Mission 2: Still not a very interesting story. the contact almost seems to be condescending to you. He is too busy to take care of his own problems? 2 big no-no's in this mission. (1) a defeat al in a caves map, even though it is not a very big map, and (2) since it is a defeat all, you carefully go through the map, then once you get to the end a boss spawns.....somewhere on the map you just completely explorer. Not good.

Mission 3: Not much to say here. You have to find one blinkie on a big outdoor map. It was being guarded by a tough group to fight which made for a fun challenge.

Mission 4: I pretty much stealthed my way to the final room. The elite boss was pretty nice, though her dialogue leaves a lot to be desired. You do have a fairly good custom villain group though. Then after you finish the mission objectives, a new one appears and you have to search for another boss.

Mission 5: Big cave map with a defeat all....

In summary, it is non-cohesive story with a weak contact. It does have a fairly decent custom group. The missions and mission objectives were very annoying. In my personal opinion I think this needs a real lot of work, and I hate to say it, but I have to give out a 2 star rating.

The actual arc # is 66137 here.

Mission 1: Not much of a story to get you started, just a doctor telling you to go kill a boss. the clue at mission end was very cryptic. I felt like I should know what is going on based on the clue, but I have no idea here.

Mission 2: Pretty standard office map with a search for 4 glowies. I like the warring factions and the custom group was nicely done. Story is still very confusing. The story needs a lot of work, imo.

Mission 3: You get your first real good look at the custom bad guys and they look great. Very nice costumes, which all fit together nicely. Good powers, nice job on this all around. The missions are all very standard so far, which is alright, but the story is not clearing up at all for me. I know what the objective is in each mission, but not really why, other than it is a cult and they must be stopped. There needs to be more.

Mission 4: Fairly large map (or so it seemed) with just one glowie to find. Fighting the same custom group as last time. I was thinking they reminded me of CoT then I saw some CoT in there. Ended up stealthing a lot of this after a little bit of fighting.

Mission 5: To be honest I stealthed much of this pretty large Oranbaga map because the objective was to click a glowie in the beginning and defeat the EB at the end. It was an easy fight (no complaints). The twist was nothing special.

Overall, the story was severely lacking. A good custom group salvaged this arc, though after 3 maps of fighting them, they lost a bit of luster. I might mix it up a little more. The 4th mission was not necessary really. I'm gonna give this one 3 stars and that might be a tad generous.

All right, thanks. I was thinking about dumping the fourth mission anyways, just wanted to grab a second opinion. Gonna use the extra space to expand and better connect the story.

Edit: And the clue was supposed to be one of the masks from the first mission's end boss and his little group, but I guess the description may be too cryptic.

I think you can work with your custom group. They look real good. I do believe you have quite a bit of potential with them, there could be a gem in here. I might mix up the groups a bit, so that the last 3 missions are not all the same group. Get rid of the 4th mission or replace it with something more meaningful and put the story together a lot better and you might have something really good here.
