Fixed (just a friendly correction -- Banes don't have the crab spider backpack (or shouldn't; not sure if the alternate build thing still affects them)).

And I thought the term 'buttcape' originally referred to the trenchcoat tails -- that's when I first encountered the term.

Anyway, very happy to have the full widow look available!

It still does, this is a known issue but it's one of those "we know it's annoying but we can't really do anything about it yet" issues.

Erm..I "really" hope Male Widows get access to it by Live..I would be quite a disappointed Widow.

I'm all for costume item gender/bodytype equality.
I think all items should be available to all 3 bodytypes as a general rule.

But unfortunately I suspect they might not allow these buttcapes for males for several reasons:

1) Apparently it took a lot of effort to get this item working even for female player characters let alone anyone else. Since it took so much time to make it work for one bodytype it's possible they might not feel spending that much more time on it would be worthwhile.

2) Some costume items have remained strictly gender specific in this game even beyond most reasonable expectations. For example cigars for men only. I might not use a cigar for any of my female characters myself, but there's seriously no good reason to restrict that item from females other than for some kind of silly arbitrary gender bias decision on our Devs' part.

3) We know the Devs are a little "touchy" about letting players have access to NPC costume items anyway. This seems to be the reason why we don't have Kheldian sashes for instance. Perhaps they decided they only wanted female Widows to have buttcapes as some kind of built-in limitation for making sure not too many people ultimately use them.

My guess is that the Devs are just going to say "buttcapes are for girl Widows only" and be done with it.

There's already a ton of gender-locked items that make less sense then waist capes (since Posi's Kobayashi Maru made it the official term) just for female Widoes do (which may be just a heap load of coding for something that looks to bind smoothly to the upper part of the costume; I can see that being a bit of trouble with the current sliders).

Heck, do Males even get a Tops with Skin category, at all? I remember when I was making the Skittles (I refuse to call them otherwise, because it's hilarious), I was disappointed to find I couldn't use the 'Tanker' top females get on the male members of the group, and had to completely redo their entire visual concept as a result. The only thing that came close was the Tank Top option, and that didn't have the same look at all for what I was going for.

I may have to go through and check, but I think in that regard male characters (and to an extent, Huge) have fewer options then female characters period. >.>

Eh, I've never could get past the idea of having male widows, but
that's just me. If people want male widows, that's thier choice,
but I still feel there should be some uniqueness to some respect,
other than just gender. Just my opinion.

[/ QUOTE ]They don't, but they can add patterns to both bare chest types. So, male characters sorta get an Tops with Skin category. The difference being, as they're male characters, there's no concern for male nipplage showing or not showing. And yes, they suffer from the same issue with lighter colors and flesh tone shading that female characters do.

Thanks! There's 3 actually: white and green, green, and black. (The box colors for home basic, home premium, and ultimate respectively. I've got a professional version on live. I've also got an enterprise version but, as that doesn't actually HAVE a box, I think I better keep pictures of it off the forums. )

In beta it was easy to dupe your costume off. Just set your costume how you like it then, when the game gives you a new costume slot, it starts as a duplicate of the 1st slot. All you have to do is change your first slot instead of your new slot. That worked for a little while when it went to production, too, but only for the second slot.

That would be why only one costume has the new "waist" cape. I can't touch the other ones without them changing into normal costumes.

for a little while.... so I take it that means they fixed it and you can't do that anymore? was thinkin this could be a nice way to make use of dual builds and have the two matching costumes for either path for the two VEATs

I'm pretty sure it's "fixed." You can find out pretty easy, just make a new Widow, get to level 10, get your additional costume, and see if it's forced to be a normal one.

Im pretty pissed off. I want to switch genders then. Cause the cape is one of the reasons i think widows look so cool...... im really really upset.

This freaking blows..... and no way am i going through 50 lvls and purple sets again just to change.

: (

Not much can be done about the levels, but you could use respecs to at least pull your purple/expensive sets out 10 at a time, and store them in a personal base (even if you and a friend have to make a small SG just to facilitate it) until you can transfer them over (keeping the 'keys' so to speak on an alt). Unless you already have a sufficient personal base.

It is a regrettable circumstance, though. :/
