*laughs at Tekka*

Though I think I lost quite a bit of my readership thanks to that heinously long gap I put them through... Oh, well, no one's fault but my own, I suppose.

Doubt you lost that much. Lets face it, we all see it lit up w/ a new post and the first thing in our minds is "OMG she finally wrote more!"

I feel...

...

...like it was too short.

I think you enjoy your cliff-hanger endings a little too much. You just really seem to use them after almost every single chapter and it gets old. It'd be nice to have a chapter last beyond a single clip of the movie.

Or maybe it's just been too long and I've forgotten the average length.

Kinda leaning toward the former, though.

Statesman said let there be heroes, and there were heroes.

Lord Recluse said let there be villains, and there were villains.

NCsoft said let there be nothing, and there was nothing.

The problem with publishing a serial is that every chapter has to come with a climax of some kind. I'm not sure why anyone would call this a cliff-hanger, though. Seemed pretty cut and dried to me.

Well, at least now I can wrap up this particular arc, and then get started on the next one. Granted, all is not going to be well between our heroes after this... not to mention what happens when Vanguard assesses the data they've brought back.

ARGH! I am KICKING myself for not having checked my story arcs... I couldn't figure out for the life of me why no one was playing HELL HATH NO FURY, and then Chyll sends me a tell going, "I think it's broke." And it was! AND NO ERROR MESSAGE!

So yes, if you'd like to play through the origin of the MistWalkers, the arc is now up and ready to go.

Reading through all that, especially the last bit... it's a lot to pack into less than a story day. (Or a story day.)

That's a lot of control.

... Looking forward to where things go from here. 'twas a good point to end it at.

Very nice, D_R. That was a touching ending, and a hopeful beginning. I can't wait for part deux.

PS. Your soundtrack selection for it was spot on. very complimentary.

I sometimes give myself a challenge when I write, just to keep things from getting stale. The hardest thing I have EVER done was write an entire novel in dialogue. Packing in several chapters of action into one day was something I HAVE done before, in "The Sword of the Soul."

And I have a lot left to delve into... we've got the deepening of Raymond and Sorina's relationship, coping with not being able to go on assignment together, the problems with the Nova Dominion, the discoveries in the War Zone, not to mention the possibilities between Synapse and Blake!

I was actually stuck for an ending. Kid you not - had NO idea what I was going to do, and then while listening to "Boudicea," it just hit me all at once, and I went, "Yep. That's it."

Of course, it's easy to say that you're going to do things a particular way in a relationship. Actually doing it, however, is a whole other animal... as Raymond and Sorina are going to find out.

Part Two should be starting soon, beginning fairly quickly after Part One, since now the Phalanx and the Patrol will have to deal with the fact that these two can no longer partner each other.

*applauds softly and wipes away a tear*

Brilliant from start to finish, but the bit that really struck home?

As she turned away from Raymond and Gaussian, however, Gaussian's voice made her pause.

"Sorina..."

She stopped, but did not turn around.

"Da?"

"''For their service to Vanguard and their homeworld...'"

"'We will remember them,'" she whispered. "'And for their sacrifice...'"

"'We will avenge them,'" Gaussian finished. "Dismissed."

Ok, I've obviously been under a rock, but I stumbled across this story last night and I managed to get through 32 chapters before toothpicks wouldn't hold my eyes open any longer. Finished the rest this morning and all I can say is this is fabulous work and that I sincerely look forward to reading a lot more of part II in the future!!

*nods slowly*

Very good music for the end. I kind of want to see an epilogue of the aftermath from the Riktis' point of view. Cause I really don't think we've seen the last of Av'Adn.

Traditionalists vs Restructerists vs Magi, perhaps?

Looking forward to the next story, regardless.

Okay..so I managed to finish up reading this.

All I have to say is two words: Wow. Epic.

I've read a LOT of fan fiction, and I mean a LOT of it. This is one of the two that has captivated me to read it this fast and just wanting to know "Damn, what happens next?". The work was pure awesome, and as others has put it I could literally SEE the story going in my mind as I read through your chapters.

I agree it was a very great point to end the arc at, and I really can't wait for the next one.

Very nicely done. *salute*

*off to read other bits of your work on fanficition.net*

Glad you enjoyed it, SoulSpark. I've already begun sketching out the arcs for the sequel, so stay tuned! As for my other stuff on FanFiction.net, you'll find a lot of variety there (I can say I've improved a lot since my first postings there, that's for sure!).

If you're gonna read any of my SAMURAI 7 stuff, read "The Sword of the Soul" first. If you read my TRINITY BLOOD stuff, read "Unexpected Results I: A Slight Glitch" first.
