Of the Phalanx, my favorites are Positron and Synapse, due (in no small part) to how Troy Hickman characterized them in his Top Cow comics arc "Smoke and Mirrors."

[/ QUOTE ]

Troy Hickman is a worthless piece of sli---oh, wait.

No, no, I was right the first time. Troy Hickman is a worthless piece of slime.

[/ QUOTE ]
Wow... he really does appear when you say his name!

[/ QUOTE ]

I do not!

Oh.

Troy Hickman - So proud to have contributed to and played in this wonderful CoH universe

I feel the need to echo all the other positive post here by saying what a great read this story is really well done and fun to boot, can't wait for more.

I got your original post via my email, so if you'd like to join the SP, hit the Star Patrol's site and send a message to Agent Bowman.

And welcome to the madness that is my story, and don't feel bad about posting stuff like this in the Discussions thread. This is where folks ask me about the SG, our companion villain group the Nova Dominion, how I write, whether Troy Hickman always appears if you say his name, etc etc etc.

Tried your "Hell hath no fury" arc about the mistwalkers it was fun but I couldn't beat Ghost Widow on my own, was doing fine in till she tossed me in the air didn't make it back down alive. Still had fun though think I'll try again tonight.

Something I'd been talking with Bowman about was making a wallpaper or even a series of wall papers for star patrol.

/impatient for a story update

I love how real you've made the characters. Not everything is wine and roses; they're flawed in a very appreciable way.

((That comes out weird, I'm sorry. I like that they're not all Mary Poppins "Practically Perfect in Every Way" -- it gives them weight and worth))

....crud, my stealth dropped. /relurks

Sorry, I've got a +Perception bonus against Lurkers.

BTW, some of you may be getting what you wanted this weekend - I am probably going to pull down the "Hell Hath No Fury" story arc and post "The Hearts of Heroes" - the arc that is based on this story.

Gah, gotta dash back and re-do HHNF, then. Hadn't played it since one of your earlier versions.

Where to find me after the end:
The Secret World - Arcadia - Shinzo
Rift - Faeblight - Bloodspeaker
LotRO - Gladden - Aranelion
STO - Holodeck - @Captain_Thiraas

Obviously, I don't care about NCSoft's forum rules, now.

Okay, question for you guys to discuss in the Discussions thread so I can finish writing the next chapter. Do NOT discuss it HERE.

Do you want to see the actual battle between Hro'Dtohz and Av'Adn, or should I gloss over that while the heroes enact their desperate plan?

oh dark, you really know how to tickle my joystick...

It depends. How relevent will the outcome of the fight be to the story at hand? If it comes down to Av'dn wins and kills Hro, I would like to see the entire fight. It it's a Hro beating Av'dn, I would to be able to read the major highlights but you don't need to give us a play by play.

If there isn't going to be an end to the fight (IE the heros enact their plan before the fight finishes) tell us the fights happening, and move on.

Thats my 2 cents.

My opinion on said question?

FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!

Statesman said let there be heroes, and there were heroes.

Lord Recluse said let there be villains, and there were villains.

NCsoft said let there be nothing, and there was nothing.

Bit of both, I'd say. Really depends on how important the actual fight is, I guess. No one is questioning the importance of the outcome of the battle though

I, for one, wouldn't need every single move and attack described in detail, but a fairly specific description of the battle would be nice. However, if the fight itself is unimportant to the grand scheme, then gloss it over, by all means.

Main Hero: Flame Blade (Scrapper lvl 50; Katana/Regeneration)
Main Villain: Elenor Seahawk (Mastermind lvl 44; Necromancy/Poison)

Av'Adn is clearly suffering from the final stages of Super Villain Syndrome, so we pretty much know that Hrody is going to win, as long as he believes himself to be a true hero and behaves accordingly.

The Rikti combatants have already dismissed the Terrans as unimportant to their own story. (Someone needs to send Av'Adn the Evil Overlord list. He's obviously new at it.) The fight is a distraction at this point, unless watching it is going to advance the plot of the Terrans' story in some fashion that isn't immediately obvious. Post a sentry, maybe Sorina if a main character needs to bear witness, and move on.

More practically - Do it both ways. Write the fight in detail, and write the Vanguard story with no references to the fight at all. Lay them "side-by-side" and then overlay the Rikti battle onto the story of the Terrans in any of the places where the action lags a bit and/or the two stories would logically impact each other. Think of it as a "point of view" thing. You need to know the action for the sake of consistency, but all that the reader needs to know is which bits affect the story of Raymond and Sorina.

I'm in the middle of re-reading Chesapeake, currently. At one point in the story, the current main character (it's a historical novel) is forced to stand by in his ship and witness an important battle between France and England, not unlike what is happening here with the Rikti.

It works in Chesapeake for two reasons. On the one hand, it's a device for providing a lens for viewing a battle that otherwise would have had no easy way to tell it without shifting the point of view of the story. On the other, the Americans were bystanders in their own war just then. The actions of England and France really determined the outcome of the Revolution at that point in time. The American witnesses were gnats watching a contest of giants who were fighting each other for honor and prominence and, almost as a side effect, the end result was that the French landed and the Revolution succeeded in the long run.

Here, the situation is different in many respects, but the most important is that the Terrans WON until Av'Adn decided to show up and tip the balance. He's not a rescuer of the Terrans, he's a predator challenging another predator for its meal. The only real problem with this whole scenario is that Hrody is already beaten. There's not much honor here to be gained by Av'Adn and Hrody ought to go down very fast.

Unless, of course, Av'Adn is suffering from Super Villain Syndrome and he doesn't yet realize that when the hero is beaten, that's when he pulls out the last stops and snatches victory from the jaws of doom. Preferably while the villain is monologuing.

It's real simple.

You are telling from Posi's point of view. would Raymond sit a watch the fight or would he remain focused n the task at hand.

As cool as it would be to have the whole fight unfold. don't do it unless you can with out losing the perspective.

Just read chapter 43, nicely done, although not quite as long as some other chapters.

Bonus points for the L5R reference! (And would you believe in that in Bloodspeaker's campaign, Yakamo was actually one of my character's suitors? They'd have actually made a good pair...)

As always, this chapter left me wanting more.

I laugh at my wife sometimes when I watch 24 or Heroes as the episodes tend to end in cliffhangers and they never complete a full story each week. She complains that "She hates these shows"

I now know how she feels. When reading these, you get to a point where you can't wait to read what happens next and then find your at the bottom of the post and there's nothing after it.

Can't wait for the next chapter.

When I was writing "The Sword of the Soul" over on FanFiction.net, there were two factions in my readership - the ones who loved my cliffhangers, and the ones who wanted to throw ME off the cliffs.

What can I say? I like drama, and I tend to think in story arcs rather than individual 'episodes'.

I love/hate your cliffhangers, AND I want to throw you over the cliff for writing them / making us wait to find out what happens next. BUT I know that if I throw you over said cliff, then I'll never know what happens next.

So Grrrrrr, Auughrhghh, Waaaangst and stuff.

/totters around in circles while waiting for next chapter until she gets dizzy and plotzes on her patoot.
