Discussion: Spring Fling Event Feb. 9th - 22nd!

As long as the toga and sandals mission rewards are there, I'm satisfied. I've only been playing since last November and I have a character who's gotta have these costume options.

I'd like to get the two "normally villains-only" badges - Weed Whacker, and Coldblooded for my blueside badge toon. Do we know if these will still be available to heroes through the co-op missions, or will they have gone the way of that Longbow defeats badge that heroes can no longer earn?

I don't want to waste my time running these missions multiple times only to not get the badges. I already have all the other Spring Fling badges on that toon.

Agreed. I have a character on Virtue that is perfect for the toga and sandals and another that would work with the heart outfit.

I would absolutely love it if the devs would add some variety to the holiday event missions, so we're not just doing the same old Snaptooth stuff over and over again.

They have said themselves that they don't like farming for the sake of farming, and yet that is what they're asking us to do for these missions. I mean does anyone actually have fun defeating Snaptooth for the fifth time or rescuing Baby New Year for the 10th time? Really people are doing it *just for the rewards* not out of any sense of enjoyment.

Don't get me wrong, I love the game, it's just that the recent emphasis on grindy rewards (candy canes, merits, etc..) have left me somewhat disenchanted. We really need to move back to an emphasis on new content and story lines.

Even with NCSoft's increased staffing, there just so much content they can work on. If they had a programmer, writer, animator, artist, and a product manager working on Valentines Day Event 2.0, then those people aren't working on the next Issue. Although I wouldn't say no to a new holiday event, I'd much rather the developers work on something that I can play with year-round.

Besides, I have plenty of toons created since last February last need these badges.

The characters I care about as far as badging and completionism goes already have these rewards. So, as in real life, I'll most likely avoid this altogether.

FTR, the Reformed badge is supposed to be coming back, so says Positron (check the Dev Digest for his post in a "Reformed Badge" thread).

As for the others, only way to know for sure if they're going to be available is to try it when the event goes live. Just make sure a villain on your team enters the appropriate mission first so the map is flagged to spawn "villain-only" mobs. They don't have to be the owner, they just have to enter the mission first.

Also note that there are some level restrictions on some of the mobs... i.e. the walking turkey-leg frog people (aka Hordelings) only spawn below a certain level, and Hellfrosts/Succubi only spawn above a different level. Unfortunately, I don't recall what these levels are, so someone else will have to provide that info, or perhaps it can be found somewhere at paragonwiki.

I have discovered that my dual blade Scrapper MUST get the Capbuster badge so that he get those sweet, sweet Redcap blades. So I'm happy to have this opportunity to kick Snaptooth's gnarly evil butt from here to Timbuktu.

It would be nice if the game would allow old charcters to get more snaptooth missions. Each year we should be allowed a new and higher qouata of for the valentine missions.

Since the devs have yet to put that in previous years. I doubt they have done so this year. Just pushed the turn on button, and allow only new charcters to have fun.

One thing I was REALLY looking forward to is possibly you placing the Candy Keeper outside of the Ski Chalot so people could have another chance at unlocking Halos.

Halos are Valentine's themed... I know it was part of the whole Christmas Naughty/Nice thing, but I really would like the Halos on my new female toons.

Oh, Something tells me that You'll be there for at least one mission for the hell of it. ^_~
if you like to see various costumes and congratulating creativity, you'll be there to at the very least to check it out at one point. I'll definately be there.

sigh, nothing new for the event this year, already have all the badges and costume pieces from about 3 -4 years ago. I was hoping for something new, even something as gimmicky as a temp power that shoots cupid arrows or something. this event has been pretty much unchanged since its first year on live so us old timers can get dispelled from it pretty quick.
