Guide: Solving Vista Error 13/14/driver stopped..
That hotfix page lists both, you just have to do show additional hotfixes or additional information. Its only showing one because its (trying to) autodetect your system specs. As far as I understand it, the hotfix is included in sp2 for both x86 and x64.

Folks... please remember if you want me to look at these I need your full reports.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't forget Tease, there are others here who help and we also want to see those reports.

Truth! Okay.. take two... *WE* need to see those reports.
However in this case, it simply sounds like Shining just needs to do a driver rollback. We're going to have to keep an eye on that 9xxx series cards though and see if they're simply being particular or if this is still showing in other cards.
Hmmm by clicking show additional information and then additional languages I get 6. Two of which are X64 but I don't know what is the one I'd need. =/
Platform / Release / File Name
x64 / sp2 / Fix245313
x64 / sp2 / Fix233686
How bout the ones I actually listed in the guide once you flip the x64 and x86 flags?
Windows Vista All (Global) x64 sp2 Fix245313 Vista 6000 3177788 10/22/2008 12:26:21 AM
Basically you need the ones from October. Version 2 of the hotfix although they dont call it that.
My new box to add the 9xxx's to the mix:
Dell Studio 540 Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz
6.00 GB RAM
Vista 64-bit w/SP1
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT 512 MB
Driver 7.15.11.7813
Direct X 10
BFG 550-Watt ATX Power Supply
I'm getting a periodic crash, more or less. It was mostly happening in the middle of a battle, but just now happened in PO jumping away from the trainer. At least I didn't return to the game to see my corpse hitting the deck... this time. No error messages or pop ups. Just the screen locking with the image a bit trashed and a looping sound hiccup, requiring a reboot of the system.

I tried various flavors of drivers with the v2 patch installed and CoH invariably crashes after 0-10 minutes of doing essentially nothing in game.

That's MIGHTY fast for this bug. It could happen that fast for you once in awhile but, for the most part, it should take longer than 30 minutes. Given that the fix didn't work for you, either, I think the chances are high that this is some other issue. You might try doing a memory test. In Vista you just do a search on Memtest, run the program, reboot, and let it sit for an hour or two.
Oh my - I see other folks posting problems, too. This topic is going to turn into a big mess real fast if we try to help everyone in one topic. It's best if you all make your own topics. (Preferably after reading the "common solutions" topic. Hint hint. Nudge nudge. )
Just checking back in - I have been running the 181.0 drivers for about 12hrs of gameplay on the 9800GTX+ and only had it crash twice to a white screen. Sometimes it feels like it will crash & it gets a bit choppy in the game but it seems to come right. Twice in 12hrs is a big improvement.
Filename Fix: Fix245313
Upon running the application it gave me an error saying it doesn't apply to my system.
Just because you have the right fix# doesnt mean you properly selected your OS. Infact if your using anything but IE, it told you to get the incorrect version. You MUST expand the options and be sure to get the OCTOBER fix for the CORRECT OS. This browser issue is annoying.
For Vista 64, you want (x64)
For Vista 32, you want (x86)
The fix numbers are the same, but the OSs are not.
Edited to add: On the hotfix page, FIRST click "Show hotfixes for all platforms and languages" and THEN click "Show additional information". It takes TWO clicks to fully expand this menu to see all the details. (If you dont see it expanding you may have a slider bar as well.)
Screenshot
I still don't see the date even being listed. But thanks for baring with me here. Alright so I need the x86...
EDIT: Baaaaah! I see it, had to scroll over. The page looks fine didn't even bother to notice the bar at the bottom.
Well still doesn't fix my issue of crashing. Inside of the D is inevitable and outside it's at random. I think I played about an hour or so when I13 went live. The only other thing I can think of is updating video drivers. Otherwise I guess my CPU and/or motherboard got corrupted some how during the initial setup with the problem I had then
I have a problem where Vista will not let me downgrade or rollback to another driver... it automatically upgrades itself again and I can't stop it.

Even when you follow my guide and use the driver sweeper from safe mode?
Not sure how to get into safe mode on Vista.
I would assume either hard rebooting or restarting the computer and hitting F8 it should still prompt you the option to go into safe mode or not. I would try the restart method first and then hit F8 as it boots up, hard rebooting could possibly hurt the poor thing

QFT!
Also a mess because we have two very similar threads going on, one of which doesnt mention that it sorta covers vista 32s.
I promised a reply and now several days later my Vista 64 machine with 8800GT is stable on the latest WHQL drivers using sp2 beta.
This is starting to look consistent for MOST of the 8x cards and 2x cards... still not looking so good for many of the 9x cards though. Like Ex noted from tech support in a previous thread, most 9x's are still requiring a driver rollback. Wish we could puzzle out why, but at least we know.
Switched from a 9600GT (which did not have the issue) to two 7900GS cards in SLi mode. Single mode has no crashes. SLi mode would slowly start dropping frames, then give me the display driver not working error. Crash happens within half an hour of the game being started. After the initial crash and game restart (no reboot), the game normally runs fine for as long as I play, but occasionally i may crash again with the same symptoms.
After applying the hotfix, I have not crashed yet after 3.5 hours of play. Even if I crash now, this is an improvement.
Driver is 178.13
OS is Vista Ultimate x64
AMD X2 BE 5000+
4GB DDR2 RAM
2x 7900GS in SLi
SB X-Fi Extreme sound card (can't remember which one)
I want my 9x00 card back. Sucks my wife has the bigger monitor and needs it more than I do .
(QR)
For some reason, my new rig can't play COH without the latest driver for my card. When I try to rollback the driver to one of the ones listed, only the top left quadrant of the screen is used for the window. I tried typing my username and password blind, but it doesn't take. Has anyone heard of an issue like this? I don't mind a rollback, but it doesn't seem to be working.
I've applied the hotfixes for my system, so I only get the "...has stopped working" error like once every 4 or 5 hours. It's fine, but I hope it doesn't happen while I'm in the middle of something "important". Thanks for this great thread!
My specs:
AMD Phenom 9500 Quad-core 2.2 GHz
8 GB DDR2
Vista Home Premium 64-bit
GeForce 9800 GT 1 GB DDR3 Driver 180.48
Three days, around 3-5 hours per day and not one single crash.
I do get a bluescreen on windows boot up, which is new since I applied the hotfix. The machine tries again and no problems.
Not complaining, not one bit. So happy to be able to enjoy the game again.
Here are my specs if it helps anyone:
780i FTW Mobo
mushkin 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 Wolfdale 3.33GHz
Western Digital VelociRaptor WD3000GLFS 300GB 10000 RPM
Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit
EVGA GeForce GTX 280 1mb
Corsair 1000w PSU

When your rolling back its grabbing a stock resolution that highly doesnt match your monitor. I'm pretty sure the answer folks used to this was to grab tweakcoh and set the settings before starting the game. I think you also can try starting the game in safemode for about the same access to the game panel.

I dont know whether to laugh at you or cry with you having given a working card to your wife! Uggh! Thats gotta make you want to pull your hair out!!
This is I THINK the first I've heard of this errror on a 7xxx series card, but then again your not getting it until you SLI. I was previously asking folks to break SLI for testing and that may have been part of it.
However, I notice your still on a 178 driver. You've probably figured out that my stock answer at this point for anything the hotfix isnt fixing is "roll em back!" But if your happy with only a few crashes a day, enjoy!
(I still think its sweet you gave your wife your working card!)
Oh oh. Dammit keep forgetting what Zloth told me sorry :P
Hmmm but it still only lists x86 not x64... or is it saying it will only apply to Vista 64bit with SP2?
