Discussion: Reactivation Weekend!!

To celebrate the release of Issue 13: Power & Responsibility the City of Heroes Team would like to welcome back all previous subscribers to try out the new update.

All players who had retail accounts that are in good standing will be able to access our live servers starting now through Sunday night at 11:59 PM EST.

As well, all players logging into City of Heroes will see the following goodies as a result of Issue 13.

Is it okay to ask why the freespec wasn't announced in advance? There wasn't even a hint that there would be one this time (although everyone figured there would be), much less an announcement so that people could use old freespecs they already had. The first "notice" that anyone had was a mention on the UK boards while the servers were still down for the Issue 13 update.

Also, having the freespec grant during the actual issue update made it so no new characters (such as Shields or Pain Dom characters) could have one.

When this happened before, another freespec was granted shortly thereafter to make up for the first one not being announced. Do you foresee this happening this time?

i hope the client crash problem is solved by then.
its getting to be really bad. a great amount of a zone crashing. Definitely my entire team several times.
Having more accounts active than there are already, in a time of the week when there are more people connected could get crazy.

Does the reactivation weekend mean that all of us with paid accounts will get 5 days before being billed, or is this still just giving free stuff to people who won't reactivate after they get their 5 days of play in?

I'll fix the note to read better, but it is one token per slot per character, so if your character has 5 slots you would get one token per slot for that character, equaling 5.

Not to sound greedy or anything, but is there any talk on increasing the saved freespec to 2 since there's dual builds now?

Or is it already that way?

I wondered about this too. Do we get 5 days tacked onto our accounts? Or is this just giving stuff to lost players in the HOPE that they comeback and current paying people be damned? Also noticed redname skipped answering this question to takel the hard one of how many free custume slot you get (which is answered as soon as you log on to your toon.)

The re-activations are a promotion to lure back players with lapsed subscriptions. That's it. Expecting to get free time added to an active sub is missing the point. Be glad that NCsoft makes the effort to bring back players instead of ungrateful that you don't get compensation that was never intended for you.

After over four and a half years without letting my subscription lapse, I've finally become one of those "lost" players. If I enjoy myself enough over the next few days, I'll resub and that's more money for NCsoft and another player added into the game's population. That's a good thing.
