Open Beta on test is available to everyone now, so I'll allow i12 pieces. However, VEATs aren't available to everyone. How do the rest of you feel about those pieces being eligible?
I've updated the page with everyone's entries. Hopefully, I'll have my critique ready within a day or two. Hope you all had a good weekend.
I don't really have a problem with them being allowed--now if they're required, that would be a problem.

welp, I say that if this contest were for an actual Prize then we should all play with the same tools - but since it's not, I'm cool with seeing what people come up with using the tools available to them. Whatever keeps it fun, you know!
Meh, if that's implemented then why not toss in kilts, belly shirts, boxer shorts and all the other vet rewards while we are at it? I found his contest as a personal test on my imagination given a limited amount of colors, figures, and styles. If someone has more options to chose from than myself, then I must rely on my creativity to best him or her. Personal thoughts on the idea but I felt they would be constructive towards the discussion. I say let all the people use what they have, because everything each one of us does have was earned in blood. I mean game time and money. Wedding pack included.
Here's my critiques:
Iced Latte It looks like youre using some of the i12 costume pieces, and I think it works well for this design. Good breakdown of contrasting colors. Having the white between the two blue parts makes for a good pit stop for the eye and also prevents the design from being too blue.
Snowbologram Great name! Even though its a smash-up of two words, it comes out sounding strangely like a real word. The chest emblem goes a long way to add to the illusion aspect of the character, as does the line patterns on the gloves and boots. Did you try using none of the belts? I would think that would add to the otherwise sleek appearance.
The Cryonicist A great use for the new thorn patterns. It can serve as icicles or cracks in the ice. Even the hair looks frozen and spiky. Im not entirely sure about the chest emblem, however. I see that it was a good place to use the lavender-ish color. Perhaps a different emblem would work better? If the thorn pattern on the leg doesnt go past the knee, I would leave the colors as is, but make the boots tights rather than leather in order to get rid of that seam line. If the thorn pattern goes beyond the knee and looks like it could flow into the boot, Id match the color and still change to tights instead of leather.
Dona N. Pacem Thats quite an eclectic selection of costume sets/pieces! And you certainly do a good job of making it work. Given that much of her arm is skin, perhaps it might be better to go with one of the bracers? Using the lighter colors to accentuate the belt would help, too.
Beverly Chills Are you missing a color or am I just blind? Again, good selection of pieces and a color scheme that works well. And again, Id use a different combination of colors to accentuate the belt, or drop it completely. I vote drop it. Unless, of course, it is necessary for the concept. I love the name.
Azure Barracuda Here we have a slightly different approach with the white/light grey as the dominant color. Adding the claws powerset to the barracuda/underwater theme was clever. Are those chains wrapped around his neck? I wouldnt think that would be helpful underwater (rust and extra weight).
Glacial Harpy She definitely looks like a harpy! Too bad we dont have monstrous bird feet. The entire package works well with the Cold Domination/Sonic combo.
Snow Raven Ah! More wings! Given that these shots were snapped during the night, theyre a little difficult to make out the distinct colors. From what I can make out, however, looks like a good combination of costume pieces.
Trance-Fusion Glasses and goggles seem popular this round. It could just be my monitor here at work, but it looks like you could use a little more contrast between the two colors on the chest and leg patterns. Theyre tough to make out. The same goes for the chest emblem. Everything else works really well, especially using the non-blue color on the belt.
Frost Wolf And last, but not least the wild card. I dont have access to the VEATs yet, so Im not familiar with the degree of customizability in the Arachnos soldier costumes. But, I like what I see. I mightve switched the deeper blue and lavender-ish colors as far as dominance goes, but thats just a personal preference.

I like the belt. I always design to my own tastes, of course. A different color might have been good, but I rarely can come up with a costume that looks good to me without a belt... either the division between top and bottom is too obvious for me, or it just feels wrong or bad in some way.

I use the more purplish color in the gloves and the boots, and the more greenish color I only used in the belt buckle I think. Maybe in the chest emblem too.

About that chain; It's supposed to be a sort of substitute for an oxygen tank. Except less bulky. Yeah; a super modern oxygen tank around the neck that LOOKS like chains.

The Chest and Legs are Tight-Shiny. Tight boots instead of leather would have looked out of place and dull against the rest of the outfit.
I wasn't going to a seamless look, but more of a shiny color fade effect. The seam on the boots is fine by me.
The chest emblem represents an ice cube, the lavenderish color was already used in her hair.
I believe the thorn pattern is available for the boots, but it was too much of that pattern to continue it on the boot. There wasn't any break in the outfit it would have been just one long line of patterns.
I look forward to doing the next palette...this is great fun!
(Yes I hve the name Cryonicist reserved on my favorite servers already :P )
Duh! An ice cube never even crossed my mind.
I wasn't suggesting you add the thorn pattern to the boots, just to make them the same (solid) color as the thorn pattern on the legs, provided the two pieces would "connect". It's been awhile since I was on test. I'm not sure how those pieces work exactly.

I did almost go with no belt actually, but I ended up needing it to balance out the border on the neck - the costume was "weighted" too high without it. In my imagination though the belt is part of the thin-stripe pattern on the rest of the body instead of being an actual belt... sort of like Ghostly Skull.
Guess everyone else is busy doing i12 stuff, I can't believe I'm only the second one to make a costume for this palette so far.
Anyway, considering the colors, I went with a Ice/Thermal controller. Was gonna get creative with the name and go with something to do with comets etc. but I'm too much of a fan of Gwyn/Gwen names. (The name still fits alright, gwyn=white, eira=snow. Probably woulda been better as an Ice/Cold defender with that last palette that I never got around to making an entry for >.<

This looks like fun! Here's my entry, Sound Shield (tech defender, force field/sonic). Her force fields are generated by her gloves, and she's had her vocal cords enhanced to produce her sonic effects.
