Kabuki Korematsu by Chisoku - Solid outfit and good choice of colors on the face.
Shiria Sutingurei by Baisleac - Lot's of energy here. The colors on the metal perfectly suit the power aura.
Cherry Bomb by ddgryphon - Simple and sleek - nice suit.
Singing Bow by Conker - Great tattoos, but not a fan of the pants.
Hicarumbi by Katherine - Has a Elvish feel to it.
Hot Knife by ViciousOne - Dig the concept and the outfit. Not sure if I like the head though.
KO Katie by Altoholic_Monkey - wow, when did these options become available?? Very cool look to her.
Cherries 'n Cream by Manoa - A little too bland for my taste.

And now, the winners...

Congrats to the winners! You've won a No-prize!
Thank you, Juggertha, for taking the time to judge our contestant's entries!
The rest of you do the guy a favor and commission some artwork from him.

No offense to Juggertha (with whom I concur that Baisleac's costume was the best of the lot)...but I gave this a try 'cause the thread thus far has been pretty constructive thus far and generally, not only the negative was discussed, but also the positive aspects of a person's costume. Plus, if there was any negative, tips on sprucing up the costume were also provided. Unfortunately, I have no clue what to improve upon since the comment above provides nothing constructive to build off of. And to be a little frank, it kinda made me feel embarrassed for even giving it a go.
I personally feel that the full critiques is really what made this thread shine. They help people identify what works, what doesn't and the judge's rational for their decision. Without the full critiques, it just feels like another costume contest in Atlas.
Thanks, Manoa. I'm glad you find my critiques helpful. I worry that I might come across as a preachy "know-it-all" or elitist or something like that.
My only thought in looking at that costume was the the light color used in the shirt and leggings almost blends with the skin tone, so it comes across as more like one color - that may have been the reason he described it as bland.
Perhaps try a different skin tone, or use the darker color for the leggings or something like that would have helped separate the various parts of the costume.

I certainly don't see your critiques as "preachy." Hard to come across preachy when you include discussion on the positive aspects of the costume.
P.S. I hope I didn't come off the wrong way earlier and promise I wasn't completely offended or anything! I was just hoping for something a little more constructive is all...
Manoa, don't feel embarassed. If you like the costume, that's what counts. If you're not pleased with the costume, what would you change? The use of yellow for the top and the legwarmers does make the toon a little monochromatic. Assuming you didn't have to do that to fit in all the colors, I'd consider using the dark red for the legwarmers.
Juggertha might also have meant "ordinary". Unlike the other entries, there's nothing that really screams "Superhero/villain" to me about Cherries 'n Cream. Maybe that was your intent, and if so, that's cool. I have a toon whose primary costume looks like street clothes and I'm perfectly happy with it. Otherwise even the addition of one of the "small mask" face options would "super" up the character IMO.
(Sometimes, I wish there could be a Dev thumbs up button for quality posts, because you pretty much nailed it.) -- Ghost Falcon
Oooh! Maybe give her one of those small masks, and that should complete the ensemble! She could be a sidekick for "Headmistress, the crime-fighting principal".

As someone who has entered every contest in this thread (six now is it?) and never having so much as managed a place or show, here's my take it fwiw opinion:
I agree that a small mask and a dark color on the leggings would make it stand out a bit more heroish. I would also take advantage of the two colors available in that top--you've made it a solid color, but it's designed to be two tone and works well.
I would say that this is a difficult palatte and that for a first entry you did all right.
Come back for the next one--my first costume for these contests received the following review:
Sir Tanks-a-Lot
Whoo. Now THIS is a jumble. Nothing on the outfit seems to really match with one another, which is a bit of a setback. The enforcer glove with the tech glove is a weird pair, and the metallic bottom doesn't match very well with the metallic top. The concept is a little unclear to me as well, but to each their own. Always pleasant to see what others come up with, y'know!

*snicker* You know, I can't help but think that "Headmistress" would make a good villain (too bad there isn't a "students" option for MMs ).

Hey! No pilfering ideas from this thread... unless you're gonna participate in the next one.
Okay, I'm clearly in it for the joy of creating characters:
Stygian Claw

I'll give it a shot, but my screenies are really dark no matter what I do--I'll try taking shots with something other than the built-in grab tool. I think it may work better.
Try going to Icon to take them at the edit screen, or from the login character selector - the lighting there is usually better. I prefer Icon, as I can do it while changing stuff, then change and get more screenies.

Here's the second Ref Sheet for Stygian Claw .
I say, old chap, I do fancy this colour palette which you have provided for our use. May I present to you fine chaps and ladies, Percival Cavendish. He's a ripe old bean who's gotten fed up with all the riff-raff on the streets nowadays and decided it was high time he went to boffing 'em on their noggins with his walking stick. (I wish there was a nice smoking jacket to use... and he really needs a pipe instead of a cigar, but I think it works well enough heh).

First off, I want to offer my apologies. I have not been reading this thread from the start, and I think the vibe of it was lost on me. I approached this offer to judge solely as a competition. I simply jotted down what came to mind as a first impression, and gave my submission for who I thought should win.
If I would have paid better attention to this thread, I would have given a more constructive review.
I should have.
Instead, I simply judged.
I hope that my comments don't discourage you from further participation.

Meh, you can see that on my forum registration date. I just scrolled through the costume options for something different. Bango, boxer
