*NEW* Color Palette Costume Contest!
So much for technical discussions.

Class uses periods, id uses hashmarks.
So for instance:
p.stuff = <p class=stuff>
p#stuff = <p id=stuff>
[/ QUOTE ]
That, I already knew. Which is why I only use id's for specific sections of the page (header, navigation, content, sidebar, etc.).
I'll see if uncommenting helps. Eventually, I plan on creating an external stylesheet and linking all the pages to it. Maybe now's a good time to implement it.
Given how few entries there was this time, I feel kind of awkward passing out medals to three out of the five of you. Plus, my critiques this round are minimal, at best. :/ Was it just this palette? Anyway, here goes...
Hott Chocolatte
If this costume has a weakness, its those shoulder spikes. As a visual concept, I see no reason to have them. The rest of the costume works well with contrasting colors and visual patterns. Id go a little darker with the hair for even greater contrast against the skin.
Ovia Cakoria
Its a chocolate goat lady! Heres another costume that works using contrasting colors and patterns. Is that skin under the vest? If so, what would the swirl on the chest be a tattoo?
Golden Ore
Heres a clever concept. He looks like a metallic punk rocker in a biker gang. The rock armor is a natural with this color palette (and it looks like chunky chocolate). Given the metallic chest pattern, is he made of gold with a gooey chocolatey center?
Captain Hazmat
Its tough for me to make out the finer details of this costume due to the size of the image and the distance of the camera. And from this distance, theres not a lot of contrast. He looks a tad muddy (no pun intended). However, I like the overall look of the helmet. I might just have to steal it.
Pointy Stick Avenger
He looks like he could be a part of G.I.Joe. Good use of costume pieces and colors. Which pieces did you use for the arms? Did you consider using a single solid color on the boots?

Nice one, Slick! Was "Airwolf" taken?
*heh* Sky Wolf is a character that's been kicking around a couple of story ideas I've been mulling over. For whatever reason, I used that pallete to visualize him. I'd actually intended to use the yellow/gold as the primary color, so I was surprised when he turned out the way he did. I wouldn't be surprised about Air Wolf being in use already, though. As it was, I had to create the in-game character as "Sky-Wolf".
As for the palletes, you might generate more interest if the pallete has some more variety built into it. Chocolate was not too far from monochrome in a lot of ways. Bats'n'Belfries is kind of similar. Lots of dark blues/grays with one contrasting color.
Something like one of the watermelon palletes, that's basically ALL contrasting colors, might be fun.

Doing it early is always better than doing it later. You've already managed to avoid building a bad habit of using inline styles everywhere, so you might as well work on the good habits now. *heh*
A bit of advice - A significant number of CSS-related "bugs" (I might even say most of them) can be solved by asking "What is the browser assuming about my document?" The more you specify, the less room there is for the browser to do something unexpected.
If you want to be inspired and see some awesome stuff that clever people can do by separating styles from content and changing only the stylesheet (and supporting graphics), check out the CSS Zen Garden.

Excellent, thanks. I looked at single colors on the boots, didn't like it as much. In retrospect, probably should have gone with the razor pattern, might have flowed a little better. The arms are layered pads on the shoulders and leather straps for the gloves.
I've never yet taken a hit from a bad guy skidding across the floor on his keister.

The Pointy Stick Avenger is simple but effective:
Gratz!
No other entries?
I haven't had the time to complete anything with work, and some people might be starting school again soon. Perhaps it's time to extend the deadline a bit so we've got more time?
That's fine with me. Is two weeks too long?
I'm normally there with bells on, however, my daughter is getting married this Saturday, and well, let's just say that and the rest of RL is kicking my butt right now.
Now that I have a bit of time....
Niobrara's Newest
I keep my gamma set at a pretty respectable level and I still can't make out any detail on your costume creator clip. Any chance you could boost the brightness of Niobrara's pic a couple of notches, Grower?
Probably too late and not particularly inspired, but here's
Golden Gun
That's a pretty good way to use your contrast color!
Must make it hard to make those stealth kills, though!

Since it really isn't a stealth weapon, I thought, ehhn, why not?
It does make hiding in shadows really difficult. You have to remember of course, until it is used, they keep it shoved up their bum--which isn't so bad when y ou realize that the broadsword users do the same.
People are posting again? Holy moley!

No we're not--you're just imagining it.
In fact, this isn't even really here.
These are not the posts he is looking for?

Hm... I suppose it is a little dim isn't it? The costume creator lighting is not favorable to dark colors. Try this one?
Nio Brighter
Much better!

Funky. I usually use dot-format and CLASS= myself so I'll have to chalk that up to something I never knew or instantly forgot.
Anyway, I actually saved your page locally and did some editting on it instead of just looking at it. The problem became pretty obvious at that point - Your width, which you had actually specified at one point and then removed from the current page.
Right now, the container block has a width of 100%. Uncomment your width attribute and you should be good.
