Ok last update on the skirt bug.
It looks like the patch that will hit the Training Room Server today does have a fix for this and once it passes QA will be pushed to the live servers.

[/ QUOTE ]

Cool, and sorry for the threadjack. I actually hadn't logged on since the patch went live today so didn't realize that it made it to live. Here's hoping that the build going to test today passes soon.

When the skirt is fixed, just flip the colors (starshot the green of the top, and make the skirt the purple on the torso). I think it'll line up on the sides... Or you might have to use a thicker stripe.

Ok finished my newest creation and latest entry.

Ellette is a Mutant Plant/Kin Controller that loves stars.

Edited to add, it's a shame you can't see the differences in 2 of the greens or the purples in the pics.
I used all the colors I swear.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is a beautiful design!

Thank you so much. The more I look at her the more I really like the costume. I've been wanting to play a Plant/Kin controller since it went live. I think I have found the outfit that may inspire me to actually do it.

Here's mine:
The Thorney Thistle

Maddie McGregor was a party girl. Dancing, clubbing etc. was definitely her "scene." Concerned for her safety, her family forced her to take self-defense classes. Late one night (or early morning, she can't remember), Maddie was attacked by a group of thugs and she proceeded to kick their a$$es. She liked it so much, that superheroing become her new "scene." Her family is even more worried now.

Cool! I've often tried to find a use for those banded stripes patterns, but never pulled it off.

Thanks. I think using two shades of green that were so similar made the stripes more subtle, and therefore it worked.

Here is Anita Cocktail for your consideration.

Had a little head start on this one as she is already a character that I'm trying to level up. Just had a couple minor tweaks in terms of color. Hope you like her.

Don't forget, your entries are due today.

It was a little difficult for me to come-up with a concept that wasn't Barney-related. But after much thought and consideration, I present you with...

Frankenmime

(P.S. It's a little difficult to see all the greens, but I promise they're all there)

Wow that rocks--almost as scary as Barney.

You can find the entries here.

The Grim Hunger –
This kind of color scheme is an odd fit for a necromancer, but you make it work by using a good pattern with the olors.I’d consider using the purple as the dominant color to add some support to the “dark and undead” themes that naturally accompany a necromancer.

Fillypad –
Clearly we have a former Miss Swamp Thing amidst these entries. Very nicely done, using the green on the monstrous fur body parts. It lends a mossy appearance to the character. Using just a touch of purple for accents was a smart choice in this case.

Grandma –
This one’s tough to judge due to how small she appears within the frame. Overall, I like the styling of the jacket and pants. Should I start allowing the limited use of neutral colors like black or white in addition o the palettes themselves? In this case, I think the belt could benefit from a touch of black.

Ellette –
Nicely done. Even the messed up mini skirt works to your advantage here. Good contrast of greens. I might use a purple on the legs for pattern’s sake (green skirt/purple legs/green boots) or like I suggested when the skirt gets fixed, flip the upper body color scheme so that you have green in the center instead.

Prime Mogul –
Nicely put together design. I’m not crazy about the cigar here, but if it’s part of the character to be puffing away while kicking [censored]… It has a sci fi pulp feel to it.

Thorny Thistle –
Nice use of contrast on the legs. Reminds me of the Wicked Witch from Oz. I think the design could use another splash of purple or two. Maybe the belt or just the belt buckle?

Radon Angel –
Everything’s working well here except the organic shoulders. The boots, gloves, and chest piece are all harder edged – probably machine stamped – and then you have this “natural” organic piece on the shoulders. To me, it sort of clashes with the theme you’ve chosen to thread thoughout.

Anita Cocktail –
This one’s a little tough to see with the aura and the darker lighting of Pocket D. As a design, it’s functional. You have well balanced use of color throughout, although I might suggest using the lightest green on the belt for maximum impact. I think this costume might benefit more from a wider range of colors. I can see the fairy wings as a completely different set of colors from the rest of the costume.

Frankenmime –
That face reminds me of when the Joker and his cronies start trashing the museum’s art in the first Batman movie. As a matter of fact, I think I hear the Prince soundtrack in the background… This is another costume that would probably benefit from a couple more colors. I think if you used black and white, you’d capture the mime look, and then keep the green for the Frankenstein look.

Because I'm too lazy to go looking for a palette right now, I've got a special treat for you. You'll be choosing your own palette this week. There are some stipulations, though.

1. palette must be monochromatic - your choice of color
2. you must use at LEAST 3 shades of the color you choose
3. you can use "realistic" skin tones and hair colors

Any questions?

Deadline is Saturday.

Oh, what a challenge. I was juuuuust thinking about making a noir character, but then I read rule three. Blah!

SHEESH! This is proving to be real hard.

Posted

how does the skin and hair option mess with your noir concept?

Posted

Because, what I was having an idea of doing was a completely black and white character, but that would require black and white skin as well. And that's not normal skin color, now is it?

Emphasis mine... I'm thinking you could do black and white. IMHO.

My palette: Indigo
(An extremely creative name, right?)

My entry: FADE

I just noticed that the one shot is a little fuzzy. Here's a slightly better one. FADE (take 2)

Oh whoops... I thought that rule always applied.
It's just that it was brought up here and meant we had to.

She's not wearing tights and I think her feelings would be hurt if you suggested she dye her skin purple because the green clashes heh.

Thank you for the skirt advice but knowing that the skirt will stay unless I hit the tailor, I am happy with the way it is (prefer it actually to the stripes down the side). I also didn't like the pattern on the top reversed either.

OMG edited to add woohooo I got 2nd place this week! That means next week I have to come up with a #1!! Thank you so much.
