Aaand we're closed. Judgements and winners will be up in a moment, but in the meantime, here's last contests winners' sprites:

El. D's Teruko

Djeannie

And now for my judgements:

King Cauldera
Okay; I like the backstory, but I really don't think that this pallet was the best match for his concept. As far as the costume goes, there's a lot of stone parts, but that's fitting for the concept, and the blend of red and green on the body makes him look a bit like a tomato. He's also really dark, and so it's hard to see details on him, but it's a definite improvement over the last entry, though, so great job.

The Jungle Shade
A simple, but neat design. The Asymettry of color here is actually pretty nice, and the shiny tights make her look like a poison frog, which I think was what the original pallet creator was going for. Good work. Perhaps the only thing I'd change is add a belt.

Wind Soul
Conceptually, I can't really see where you're going with this. She looks like some sort of... Blind knight with lingerie on and some tribal-styled patterns on the skirt and boots. Not quite what I think of when I think 'wind'. Maybe it's just the shots, but she seems really dark colored. The green doesn't stand out as sharply as it should, due to the transparency of the wedding pieces on the skin, neutralizing the green color out with a brown one.

Crack Thorne
Another simple, yet pretty effective design. I'm not entirely fond of the sharp transition of the tights on the body to that of the hands and feet, as the constant texture but not constant color makes it look odd; You probably would've been better off using another glove texture rather than covering them with tights. The facial pattern is also a bit low in contrast; probably would've done better if set to bright red. other than that, it's a pretty simple and sweet suit. Nice job.

Viperian
I actually like the imbalance on this one; The green tights on the top blend surprisingly well with the tech legs, and the lack of dominance by black makes plenty of contrast in this outfit. My only qualm is that the boots could probably be a bit brighter, with dark green as background color instead of black, but still, this is a not so simple, and also very impressive design.

Corrupt Thoughts
Whoo, more imbalance that seems to look good, and probably the 1st entry that has a skin tone that is from the pallet. I'm looking at it right now and simply can't find a fault in the design. Everything in this costume seems to fit together. I have to say, well done.

Venomous Val
Spikes and stuff galore. In the sense that all the entries up until now have been quite traditional, this is a huge departure, and I like it. My only problems with this one is that chest emblem, which probably would've been better left off, and also the lack of a belt, which makes the transition between the top and bottom a little sudden, but that's no big deal. Overall, I really like this design as well.

Venus Dionaea
Hmm... She uses too much of the same parts; a ton of organic and plant. She also needs more colors; all she uses is the bright red and dark green, but it's also a little hard to tell from the pictures. A good attempt at the costume, though.

Poison Pallet
My only real qualm with this would be the fact that the costume is all bug parts, and also that it could maybe use a LITTLE bit of black to balance out the red and green. Still, a fine entry.

Purrrfect Shot
This is a REAL departure in concept, and I admire that greatly. Of course, the colors of the body don't quite match the hands, feet, and head, but hey, what can ya do? . All I could really reccommend is increase the contrast between the body color and stripes by making them green, or more preferrably, black, perhaps, but then again, I'm a little at loss of what could really be done with the pallet itself, so good jorb.

Erme
PUT ON SOME PAN-Er, sorry. I'd say that the costume needs a bit more balance in its color distribution; maybe make those stiltellos green instead of red? Still, a pretty good and unique design... That needs pants.

Poison Pete
Excellent. I love how that chest emblem looks on this guy. My main problems with this is that the gloves perhaps need a bit more contrast from the main body colors, and that perhaps the trenchcoat look doesn't entirely suit him. Still, I like this design. It does quite well with the colors given.

Wootah! You actually noticed the three rules I was trying to stick with while designing this one ^_^

Rule 1: Use a skin tone matching the pallet.
Rule 2: Don't use costume pieces from the same set, or if you do, keep them separated.
Rule 3: No hard transitions, despite rule 2.

Yay, worked in my favor ^_^ And I like corrupt thoughts, but I am more of an art fiend with my main characters, so PM away! Heheh, and yay! I didn't lose points for even thinking up KAAH-PLAAAAAH! >_>

Hmmm, were those two last rules stated somewhere?

Didn't make the stilettos green as I was trying to recreate the look of a succubus as close as possible given this screenshot: Succubus screenshot from pwiki So changing her shoes just to balance the colors wouldn't seem right. Adding pants to her look probably would balance it better though, and wouldn't take too much from the character as she picked up the robe top, wouldn't be too far fetched if she picked up a bottom as well. I just didn't choose that initially to show more of her succubus look.

Heh, no, those were just personal rules I made for myself ; ) I find setting limits and goals for myself when making a costume helps the creative process along, and keeps me on track ^_^

Actually the lack of belt bothered me a bit as well, but I really REALLY wanted to use the tail so *shrug*

Sure, you can hold your own, but I can't really give out prizes since the reason one's not being held at the moment is that I'm a bit busy.

I think I'll be able to hold another this weekend, though.

Alright. So, as I promised, here's round 3!!

All-Star Pallet

This Pallet will be a LOT easier to make a good concept around, especially if you're creative... Or patriotic... Or, whatever.

So, the deadline for this one is next Saturday. The Winners' sprites of the last contest will also be released by then.

<_<

Alrighty then, I will start ^_^

The Great Falcon!

Also known as, The Great Gray Falcon ^_^

Senior citizen silver age heroes for the win!

He may not be young, or built, but that profile is inspiring.

And I just love using that hood like this.

Night shot, not good for the colors in this scheme, but fitting for the character.

I will hash up a composite shot for him later, but wanted to post something now. Not going for the patriotic thing, so much as I was a classic, slightly more regal feel. Could not pull off everything I wanted, but decided to stay away from the spandex this time around ^_^

Paragon City Police Department presents...

Or, they would, if she hadn't flunked out of the academy. Still, being a mutant sort of has it's advantages... If she can't save the city in the police department, then G.I.F.T. is just as good. Right?

Fear not, citizens. Your streets are SAFE!

i had to try make a character around the color palette, this is what i ended up with.

I've tried a couple of different locations that look like I'm well lit, but the SC keep coming out really dark, is there a setting to help that? or a good picture spot to recommend? (red side)

No, some days I hate tripod, but what do you want for nothing.

I'll see if I can fix that.

Okay--try this.

Ah well. Probably going to be dead-last this round, too, at this rate.

But at least I can say I'm consistent!

Actually, black isn't a pallet color. That was just the color that happened to be selected when I took the picture of the pallet, so that design will have to be redone. Sorry.
