Really long hair
Um...guys?
The Bridal Veil could very very easily be retextured to look like hair.
It wouldn't look perfect, but with a hair or ponytail texture, a bit more thickening and some tapering added, I could see the veil as long wavy hair.

This thread will not die, because we could really use really long hair. Especially for guys.
There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.
If anyone can make long sexy hair it is SEXY SEXY JAY!
Sexy Sexy Sexy Jay can do anything with our models and if there is a way he (Sexy JAY) will find a way.
We are seeing a lot of stuff that we were told would never happen... happening!
So if we can all sit and meditate on the Sexiness of Sexy Sexy Jay he will be motivated to seek out the bounds that prevented him from making long hair and break them and rebind them with sexy long hair as an option.
Please Sexy Jay, use your Sexy power and bless us with sexy long flowing hair.
Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!

*Think I used Sexy enough for Sexy Jay? *
I too would like to see very long hair.
Something I notice people saying but not saying is: If they can animate it for a NPC toon; why not for a live one? Ghost Widow. Available?
hmmmmm....

NPCs have set costume pieces, and limited animations. So it's easier to make it work. With a player, it has to look good with every possible animation, and costume options, which sometimes doesn't happen/work the way they want it to. When it looks realy bad (lots of clipping) Jay makes the professional choice and doesn't do it that way.
Ghost Widow as an NPC has limited options for movement, and set costume so it's ok there. As a GM char, she doesn't show up much, nor is she very prone to just random emote spamming, nor does she change her costume. Therefore, if there are lots of clipping issues with other animations, we wouldn't really see them.
Basically, it's easier to put something on an NPC than a player. It's why NPCs have robes and flowing hair, but PCs don't yet.
Oh, and last I checked you can have a bridal veil and a cape/butt cape/trenchoat, or a cape and a tux-buttcape, but not all three.
[ QUOTE ]
Jay, having said that we are only allowed to have one cape, has ruled out us having things like loincloths, tabards, Mu capes, and flowing hair.

I have a toon with two capes...
2 CAPES, 1 COSTUME
I have noticed a difference in rendering between costume creator/character select model and in game model. CC/CS displays perfectly, in game if you look through the transparent veil you can't see the tux tails through it. Running on an ATI video card (Radeon HD 3870) - get same problem with capes and some other costume items while they are submerged in water.
OH and by the way - I want a tiara! I paid good money for the wedding pack, they could have included the tiara Sister Psyche wore, I mean the geometry is already there just add it as another hair style (veil without tiara, veil with tiara...)
DDDDOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM!!!!! There I said it. Now then... what were we talking about?

..It would be a development nightmare.

Uh huh. Definately.

Ours is not to wonder how.
Ours is just to fight and TPtoTheHospital.

By the way, hair as a pseudo-cape could be attached to the head easily enough from a programming point of view. The real issue is that hair, unlike a cape, doesn't always flow around as if one solid piece of cloth. Especially one of the same width.
They could get around that issue by separating it into several separate bundles, each of which is its own mini-cape. Perhaps have a dynamic change to use a different template template (move as a whole, split into 2, 3, 5 pieces, etc.) depending on how quickly you're moving around.
That should be fairly easy not to mention not particularly CPU-intensive. (My guess is all the cape movements are pre-generated anyway, not calculated dynamically. A few hundred K for layout tables + lookup indices for different movements is cheap nowadays. The original calcs done on a dev. machine could have taken awhile though.)

Head Capes, shoulder capes, capes, buttcapes, next we'll get groin capes (aka loin cloths) >_>

Some of them have wrist capes too...
This could definitely be done without too much work; in fact, work has already begun on it. The purchasable wedding veil is basically a precursor to flowing hair, as is, of course, Ghost Widow's hair (which I realize has been mentioned quite a bit in this thread.) Flowing hair is a must, and frankly I'd like to see it not just in a hair-down-to-the-butt form but in shorter lengths as well.

Face it. Ghost Widow's "special cool costume thing" is her hair. That means that no matter how much we beg, we're not going to get it. Same for the Sybil costume. The "coolest" costume pieces (like Statesman's helm, GW's and War Witch's hair, Swan's Cape, and so forth) go to the iconic characters.
I've accepted this and just go with it. If I need a character image to show what I *really* think my character should look like then I get one of the community artists to draw her or do it myself.
I've managed a passable look: Kheprera
Sometimes you work with what you're given and you can find a work around. It's not my prime choice, but it works.

I want really long hair.
I want loin cloths.
There will never be enough costume choices.

Ever noticed how tails don't move?
You think its because they don't want to? because they can't? or because it would take alot of effort for little return?
Now ... if they are not putting the time in tails (for what ever reason) doesn't long flowing hair fall pretty much in the same type of development problematics?

Medusa snake hair!
I would love to see it.
I would love to see it MORE if it behaved like a cape.

Let's do it! Flowing hair!
*Watches the devs have heart attacks*
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually no it wouldn't. It would operate in the same wat capes do...with a bit more detail.
I just cant see it as "a development nightmare", since GW has it. The only thing I can think of is that it uses ALOT of bandwidth(though I doubt it), and if we have thousands of people running around with it, it'd require more from the servers than the devs can get/are willing to upgrade to. Of course, it could also fall into the "major hero/villain" category, something unique about their appearance.

If I wanted to PvP, I would just run outside and gank people with rocks.

I wonder if anyone has ever been offended by my hero "Asparagus-Man" because someone they know is a vegetable...?
<QR>
I don't think it would use bandwidth. Isn't physics client-side? I assume that includes capes and such.
Tastes great! Less filling!
Go for it!
Flowing hair dynamics aren't impossible. Guild Wars does it, so why not this? It would at the very least look pretty awesome, although I guess it would have to be layered in a way where when you're flying or being tornadowed or something that it doesn't flip up to reveal baldness underneath... I mean it'd be funny but only the first 10 times or so.
Dang hippies with your long hair and your smokin' the reefer...
Actually, just to throw a wrench in some thought-streams...
I was on a sewer team with a new Arrow Blaster I was rolling for fun, and a VERY villainy teammate (Controller, I think) had the whole black/red motif. However, somehow, my CoH client misloaded her vet reward cape, which appeared attached to the back of her head. Full animations.
I don't recall taking screenshots, I should have though. I'll check when I get the chance.
