A Guide to Regenisms

Very fun guide.
My favorite tankers are those with who i can turn off all my toggles to have more endurance. ( i'm /SR)
I prefer to team with melee AT most then anything, so tanker, scrapper, blapper, brute stalker and "MM". Nothing is better in my opinion then shared aggro.

Since RWZ exist, when you'll get the time, i'd like to know what you think of the Villain's AT for teaming?

hmm, can't say I totally agree, being a wild scrapper that has had to adapt to being more feral over the years (oh how I miss the days of old, pre I-5)

http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat....t=1#Post2592812

but yeah I've always liked knockback, it gives me the sense of playing with my prey

nor did I ever really care if anyone else "kill-steals", because the way I always saw it, mimicry is the most sincerest form of flattery, and I was flattered =]

I actually kinda like when the Rad anchors the bosses too sometimes, it's like a huge beacon over their heads "KILL ME!", and they can always just re-anchor the next target

nor do I really ever care if my "opponent" in PVP wants to fight face-to-face or not, it really doesn't matter, I expect them to fight as effectively (ie dirty) as they possibly can, to do any less would be insulting

but yeah I've had a good challenge versus most of the villains: MMs, Brutes, and Stalkers, but no real experience with Doms or Corruptors, most Brutes wouldn't stand toe-to-toe with me ironically, as soon as they got low, they'd run off (I guess they didn't want to build their fury), and of course that's just the way Stalkers play, but I had a real tough time with a couple MMs (especially /traps or /poison), they can be really nasty

and yeah as far as teaming goes, pretty much every other archtype brings "something" to the table, defenders and controllers just seem to be the best cause they can buff (and I've never hated Fire Imps, guess I always saw them as kindred spirits =]), tanks not so much, but then again, they help protect the other squishies, like blasters

and the kheldians can really be cool on a big team, especially a team heavy in scrappers or blasters already >=]

but I will say this, about fear, you are spot on, I once spent almost an hour (between 30-60 mins) stuck in a constantly reapplying fear loop, I couldn't fight back, and they couldn't kill me, so I was completely helpless and stuck, I would have rather died, it's the only time I've ever been stuck so bad like that

because of that I've specifically done things to keep it from happening again (lessons learned, so to speak)

but yeah all in all, a good window into (your) regen scrappers mindsets

I know this thread is old, but I just have to add, that, as a DM/Regen, I really like teaming with Brutes in the RWZ. In a team of 8, I easily felt that me and the brute could take all the rikti on the left side of the map and leave the other side for the rest of the team. It was crazy fun.

Uber Talgrim - level 50 emp/dark defender
Uber Rod - level 50 dark melee/regen scrapper
Rod Valdr - level 50 invuln/SS tanker
Talgrim - level 50 ninja/dark mastermind

OMG!! Please add these costume designs now!

As a regen scrapper I am forced to agree with everything that is put into this guide, and IMO (someone told me this) WP will NEVER be the new regen.

I'm not sure how this works in the annals of Regenisms, but I've only started playing a month ago.

At some point in the past (around level 20-22 I think) I looked at my badges and went "Sweet you get badges for taking damage" I looked at it again and checked. Apparently sometime before that I'd taken 500,000 points of damage.

After a couple of Shivan EB faceplants a couple of days ago I hit the 1,000,000 mark, at level 26...

These were accompanied by the statement "Wow you're awesome at tanking"

Fantastic guide. If I had 3 thumbs, I would put them all up for you. On my currently level 37 MA/Regen, I always thought I was just rude. Now I know that it's a set thing. And i'm still rude anyway. Woot!

To the OP, I say: Preach on!

My scrapper is DM/Regen -- his name? Nether BEAST. And yes, I play him like a beast.

Point me at a target, then get the hell outta the way.

A Regen, being a melee unit, hates knock back. They loath Energy Blasters and the excessive knock back they cause. Regens hate watching an energy blaster jump into the middle of a mob and hit Nova, it leaves the foes alive, barely, and spread out, while the blaster runs back to the defender yelling “HELP!” Then the scrappers must go and clean up their foolish companion’s folly. Scrappers hate chasing their prey, and they will let you know if you do it too often. Energy blappers are the most annoying to a Regen. Sending foes flying where ever they go.

Ahem...I play a claws/regen scrapper. I LOVE knockback. That is all.

EDIT: maybe ill just fortitude and adrenaline boost that nice energy/energy blaster over there, she is offing her targets faster anyhow, and her knockback attacks make the scrappers sputter so...

[/ QUOTE ]

Absolutely. While I was attempting to get the Master of STF badge on my main, I made the huge mistake of having scrappers on the team. Twice, I failed the MoSTF requirements because of one death -- the scrapper, going to melee Ghost Widow after being told to just sit it out unless he had a ranged attack.

In one MoSTF attempt (after I had gotten my badge), I had a blapper. He went to melee a completely debuffed and helpless Lord Recluse. I said, once, "<blaster name>, get the <bleep!> out of melee!" and he did, immediately joining the team. Even if the risk was minimal, he knew better than to risk anything when we were one minute from completing the TF with a badge. Scrappers just ignore the "be careful" command because they "can handle it".

That's why Regen has a self-rez. We are not afraid of death. Death for a Regen is just an easy way to clear debuff status effects like -ACC.

Don't ever tell a Regen, "I'll rez you." They don't need your rez. Especially don't ever tell them that your rez is recharging. They'll hate you for suggesting that death is something that will slow down the game for you.

BTW, this thread will never die and doesn't need to be bumped. It's archived in this Guide forum. All threads are flagged not to be aged out. In many ways, this thread *is* *Regen*!

Don't worry, my empathy controller doesn't have a rez. If you were stupid enough to get yourself killed by not staying close enough for buffs, I'm not pulling your butt out of the dirt.

<Psst. Leandro... it's a joke. You're not getting it. You don't have to defend empaths from regens since the whole point of the thread is to poke good natured fun at the attitude of regens.>

<Maybe I'd get it if reading the OP didn't make me twitch and remember plenty of horror stories about Scrappers acting exactly that way and being way more trouble than they're worth. Maybe I'm a little tired of Empathy being treated like the moron kid in the buffing block. Maybe I should have slept more than 4 hours last night.>

how silly and subjective this is

Having a level 42 Dark/Regen Scrapper as well as a level 50 Elec/Dev Blaster, I'm on both sides of this argument!

Even with the understanding that this whole thing's not meant to be taken seriously, I still have to say that it makes me want to avoid Regen Scrappers. And I play one.

Odd. It was almost the same for me. Probably would have been, if I hadn't read the posts of all the /regen scrappers who frowned on it (yours included, obviously).

Meh. Have to admit, I was slightly riled by the archetype opinions... and I'm a D3. So the PvP thing, 1 vs. 1...

[ QUOTE ]
Fear is a ridiculous and cheap power in the opinion of a Regen. Regens have no resistance from it and can be held easily by it. Many Regens throw away any break frees they receive, because they are not used to being held, and do not see the risk. It ticks a Regen off to be held by stacked fears, and be able to do… nothing. Especially when the opponent cannot kill the held Regen because of his outrageous regeneration rate, but continues to try for multiple minutes (stacking fear the entire time) before giving up and fleeing. Not a good way to make a Regen happy.

[/ QUOTE ]

...

Give me some time to respec, and I think I'd like that challenge...

[/ QUOTE ]My regen will currently take a rez, but she's only 33 so far. After she hits 35, it's "Hey, Rad, blow me up but save the mutate!", and the only rez I would ask for is a Power of the Phoenix. Because it's AWESOME. And I count any damage that requires my corpse to be my damage.

The crash is worse than old-MoG, though.
