Dark Watcher is most definitely of the order of the Four Winds--however, I have never encountered anything that suggests that Foreshadow has any relationship to them.

Exactly. They're so damn righteous and "pure" that, like some people's interpretations of Longbow, they've gone all the way across the line to intolerant jackbooted fascists.

(See also: the Malta Group, making the world safe for Western democracy (hm, no, scratch that) capitalism and non-metas. Of course, to make it truly safe they have to control it...)

Anyway, yeah. Looks like another "heroic" paramilitary group that Knows What's Best For You. And if you disagree, you're obviously a terrorist, er, alien... an alien terrorist! Yeah! Those filthy aliens, coming here to destroy our cities, take our women, steal our jobs, and corrupt our precious bodily fluids...

[/ QUOTE ]

Personally, I think its going to come down to what their purpose is. The Vanguard's purpose according to what we've read is to seek out Rikti tech and then keep it out of the hands of individuals who would do bad things with it. That means EVERYBODY trying to get their hands on it..Heroes included.

I see villians doing the most fighting against them, but I also can see heroes coming to odds with them because they're either aliens themselves, non-humans, and/or "We specialize in fighting the Rikti, just stay out of our way rookie". Maybe missions where you run into them raiding a base and you end up having to fight both because their orders are to "Leave no survivors". Yeah, its another "We know best" group, but it doesnt have to take on the constantly sinister and "Wow the heroes are jerks" level that the rest of the game puts off from time to time.

[/ QUOTE ]

Sounds like one hell or a reason for heroes and villains to ally together....

[/ QUOTE ]

Arachnos also uses Rikti technology, just check out the info on the Arachnos Flier next time you see it in Mercy Island, I'd also assume that their drones are based off it as well.

This is comics, so Vangard doesn't actually have to be evil for heroes to go up against them. They just have to be working at a cross purpose to your contact.

Say your contact is a reformed Rikti, or a Kheldian. S/he may send you up against Vangard on entirely reasonable grounds. Vagard don't have to be corrupt or evil to be misguided or just not see the bigger picture.

Misguided folks generally corrupt their view of things, irreguardless... their intent maybe noble to them... but genocide is still genocide.

Sadly the COH CCG game has been dead for a long while due to lack of Cryptic support with in game advantages for buying packs. I played the card game from its launch, even beta tested both sets, but Cryptic let AEG fend for themselves without giving any help. Go to AEG's website to find a list of the heroes they made. Funny thing is that AEG actually spoiled the idea of the invention system without anyone knowing. If you go through the card list you will see enhancements that are not training enhancements that boost duel attributes.

I don't believe anyone's heard anything from the Vanguard since their billboards (and the chest symbol with NPC groups... Hm...), it's possible they've gone corrupt since then.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yesterday I noticed that some of the NPC's in game are now talking about the Vanguard as well. I clicked on a pedestrian and they mentioned something about Lady Grey.

Congratulations on the swanky cameo Ascendant. Two pages, with dialogue! Couldn't happen to a nicer, blonder, guy.

I gotta say though, that scene looks like a drug deal done in superhero lingo. First you're dating Ghost Widow (don't deny it) and now this. I'm starting to suspect there's a red strain of Xenonite you haven't told us about. Hmm? Hmm.

If you go to the Information terminals, it also mentions under "Nemeses" a villain group called "Siren's Call Phantoms". Spoiler? Typo? You be the judge!

Actually Red Xenonite makes him more dull and boring. Apparently the Ascendant we see IS the wild and crazy one (i asked him about it a few weeks ago )

I've seen them, unfortunately I don't have any pics of them. I do remember, though they were lvl 40 in a lvl 30 capped zone.

Go figure.

Edit: They were right next to the largest building outside the hero hosp

Flash of inspiration!

Scirroco, Ice Mistral, the original Dark Watcher, and I think Foreshadow were all trained by the monks in the Order of the Four Winds.

Both Scirroco and Foreshadow reincarnate back and forth from Hero to Villain.

Ice Mistral started off as a heroine, but wound up becoming a villainess.

And now Dark Watcher leads a group of Human Supremicists...

Hmmm. Methinks there's something fishy about the Order of the Four Winds.

But then, it's all speculation.

[/ QUOTE ]

In the first novel, I am pretty sure that the Dark Watcher was just a young man who discovered he had a power. I think his AT would be Mutant.

[/ QUOTE ]

No offense, but I think you meant Origin. I'm not sure what his Archetype would be. Controller, maybe?

Second:

From 'Web of Arachnos', Chapter 13, page 128:
But he was different. So different that his parents wanted to send him to Tibet to study with some oddball monks they had read about in the newspaper months before. The monks of the Order of the Four Winds were supposedly experts on unusual powers, teachers of specially gifted children who they claimed had been touched by the divine. Devon didn't care what the monks believed or what they taught or what they claimed they could do. He just wanted to be left alone.

Maybe these guys might show up in future expansions?

Hmm. I thought I read something about it in his background info. If I could find it again, I'd know one way or the other, but for now, it's speculation.

Congratulation on the cameo Ascendant! And it was also great to see the splash page at the end with DragonBerry and BlitzkriegBop.

Also the short stories at the end of the issue keep getting better and better. Does anyone know what server Paradigm Shift plays on?
