I hate you Devs

Yeah, I think the warning was more than fair...and treated by some crazy people like me as a challenge. Happy Bunny was going from Pocket D instance to instance, fighting Ghost Widow (an NPC AV version, at least) on the dance floor here, taking on Eochai, Jack in Irons, and all on the ski slopes of another instance, fighting Winter Lords in yet another instance...I had a blast. And got to the debt cap from too bloody many Kronos Titans in one place, but who cares, debt's transitory (heck, I was out of debt again after a few missions), it was still an epic battle that made my video card scream in pain from all that was going on (I recall joking that I hadn't seen my character in a good ten minutes for all the power effects firing), but still...was a whole lotta fun.

D'oh...................

I missed it.

Oh well, If I was there I would have to throw out a hearty thanx!! It sounds like alot of people had alot of fun. Hopefully with I9 "in the can" the Dev's were able to blow off some steam and have some fun as well.

Thanx alot for events like this and for future events!!

Well... what certainly explains why, when I logged back in after having left my character AFK in Pocket D to get Ice Cream for my kids I awoke defeated.

They learned from the last Event. They camped the hospitals for I think it was Cuppa's party, or one of the prior anniversary shindigs

[/ QUOTE ]

Not true. I was playing as Manticore during the Cuppa-thon and was responsible for spawning all of the critters during that event. None of the devs ever camped the hospitals. I spawned the RV versions of the Freedom Phalanx and Arachnos AVs at one point and I believe what happened was some crafty player managed to train some of them up into the rez stations. I was babysitting everything I spawned and killing off the things that were wreaking too much destruction. In the chaos, I lost track of a few of the AVs and just assumed that all of the players had taken them out. As soon as I heard over broadcast that they AVs had gotten up there I went up and killed them off. It was never us griefing you. At least not directly.

I suspect that this is what happened this time. Ghost Widow was actually the only dev who had permission to spawn anything during this event. I don't believe anyone working at Cryptic or NCSoft attacked another player. We actually have very strict guidelines about what we can or can't do while logged into a signature characters. So if you were attacked by Lord Recluse it was undoubtedly one of the AI critters spawned by GW.

We took a lot of extra steps to make sure everyone was aware of what was going on this time so everyone could avoid it if they wanted too. We had 8 or 9 instances of Pocket D open during the event and things were only being spawned in 1 instance at a time, with plenty of fair warning beforehand.

So if you were Manticore... and not your sig BaB.... that leaves one question .... What did u do to the REAL Manticore...... it has been a while since we have seen him

OMG @ all you cry babies. Waaaa I got debt. I was in PD 7 and let me tell you, signature villains were popping up everywhere and then the 3 Zeus Titans, Jack, Winter Lords. I died so much but lmao the entire time. I changed over to my villian and helped kill my own people! (Got "evil is good" title for it too) Do you know how many MMO's beg for GM events like this?
I'm gonna call the MMO waaaambulance to pick you guys up and take you out for some french cries.

I for one think the devs did a bang-up job with this event. There was plenty of warning when spawning GMs. From what I personally saw, there was no intentional griefing (except from my bloody ISP, resetting my cable line while fighting Black Scorp ), and the spawns inside the club were easily defeated.

The mass zerging of GMs happened only on the chalet, and personally it was a blast taking on over a dozen Kronos Class Titans! It was fun being part of the spear's tip, as it were

Eh well, you can't please everyone all the time

Well I must say that I loved the fact that during the Cuppa-thon someone spawned Hamidon Turing one of the Pocket Ds into DJ Zero's Yellow Death Zone
I am just upset that I heard for that event they spawned the Flyer also.
The Test server is much like Vegas. . . What happens there stays there, it's all for fun.

I am just kicking myself for missing this one.

Anyone saying the GM/AV/EB spawning that went on was unwarranted, or unfair, or unwarned either wasn't there or is just insane. There were several admin announcements, and DJ Jester warned us on the w00t Radio broadcast. Like BAB said, there were eight or nine instances of Pocket D, and GW only spawned anything in one at a time. I followed the entire event as best I could, and the whole time, people were begging for more and bigger enemies.

Please, don't complain about Training Room debt, especially when you weren't even there. I'd hate to think Cryptic or NCSoft might actually take you seriously and make policy changes because of it.

I want a (0 debt) pvp zone when the devs are ALLOWED to throw whatever they want at the players.

THAT would be some fun pve/pvp

[/ QUOTE ]

While it would need to be extremely rare, lemme tell you a couple of tales about a couple of other MMO's.

1. Jumpgate. For all it's other faults, it had a dev / player rapport on a par with what we have here. It was also a LOT smaller: only one "shard", and not a ton of players. That said, the gm/dev crew would occasionally spawn gm/dev controlled mobs and get into a major scrap with the players - exactly the "us vs them" that TacRedLine is suggesting. And lemme tell you, it was a blast.

2. Ryzom. Slightly less of the all out warfare, but that game had fairly regular gm/dev controlled events. Usually a bit more storyish, but still very popular.

Bottom line. We've got a number of shards, so it becomes a <bleep> of a nightmare for many reasons, but just once in a while doing something like this REALLY helps to cement a good solid gm/dev to player relationship.

When Ghost Widow showed at the winter party on Virtue, it was a major event, especially the bidding for a slot on a team with her. I couldn't afford it, but it must have been a blast for the folks that got to go along.

Scrappers are just like chainsaws. Somewhat hard to handle, EXTREMELY dangerous, and by far the most fun when wielded by the slightly insane.

I missed it, and hate that I did. Sounds like a huge amount of fun to me.

As an idea, on one MMO I played they had a time where the moon turned red, and anything that happened disappeared at the end of the time period. It basically allowed wide open PVP in all zones with no negative impact (ie, no debt) by the end of it.

I think it would be awesome to have a no debt invasion of Paragon City by the Rogue Isle villains. Turn off all debt for a day or so and let anyone PVP in any zone.

I like these type events. Its fun when the big dogs show up and need a spanking.

I really, really wish it had started while I was there

Guess Ill hang around longer at the next one, just in case.

Wait, you had to bid to get on a team with GW? Like real money or just infamy?
