The thing about committees is...
You don't know anything about what you're talking about dude. You don't know how this committee was put together OR anything about the PvP community.
This PvP committee was selected for us...we're perfectly able to organize ourselves as we've never had any dev support to begin with genius.
As far as I can remember the PvP community has been holding events and tournaments on test for 2 1/2 years. As a group the PvP community is the most organized group in the game because in addition to running sgs and participating on their own server, they also have to seek each other out on test.
Lions Den, Freaks of Legend, Have A Nice Day, Velocity, Old School, JFAL have all hosted events on their own servers and on test. Other older groups like Tribute started things up the second the Arena hit test.
I will freely admit that some of the PvP crowd is a little rough around the edges but they all seem to get along and get the job done.
Thanks for playing.
So who is the server rep for Liberty? It has two very active test PvP groups and several other smaller PvP groups.

Not quite. How many PVP leagues have started and then failed? The last one seems to have worked, which is great.
There is Test PVP night, true... but I don't know how much of a 'community' effort that is, and not just an attempt by the half-dozen people who actually give a damn and have the initiative to actually run it. Without those people, the PVP 'community' seems to be happy whinging and not really doing a damned thing.

They do? As I recall:
Ex Libris: Hey, test this out, it's for PVP.
Forum PVP stars: 'Why should we? The arena is still brokeeeen! Base raids, [censored]!'
This doesn't even address the fallacy underlying the 'PVP is for PVPers!' complaint about the committee; that PVP as 'hardcore PVPers' do it is what is best for PVP in general.
Hello everyone!
I'm a member of the tourneys, and events subcommittes of the PvPec.
I'm one of the Liberty server reps, and leader/PvP captain of Freaks of Legend PvP SG/VG. Our group is based both in Liberty, and Freedom servers, and we are among the top test server arena PvP groups.
Although our main purpose is team arena PvP, we are also very active in zone PvP.
I'm a hardcore arena PvP'r, and trying to represent our segment of the PvP community in the Committe.

Why is it that people who lead the commitee are people i've never heard of, or even PvP'ed against.
Sheesh!
[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe you will get your chance... but ultimately I think you might see a common thread amongst them. They are organizers. You can teach someone to PvP, but organizing, well now that's a skill worth pwning.
Most of them run and operate SG's and VG's as well as organizing events for their servers. So they might not be well known to people who frequent here, but if you hop on over to their turf they might just be someone with a rep behind their efforts.
The event was designed with PvP in mind, these are PvP oriented rewards etc. But the people coming up with all of that don't all need to be knee deep in the ring.
I work with diverse people to get diverse results, and I for one am betting on some satisfied community members once we roll out the red carpet of the event.
Now I know most of the skepticism revolves around the fact that you have had promises made to you in the past, and maybe those were broken, maybe they were borked, maybe they were all out dropped.
But if any of you recall, and I know that thread is still kicking over in the PvP general section that before I did anything I told you I wouldn't make promises that I couldn't keep.
I could promise an event, and even if we have to endure through some crashes, or griefers or what have you, we are doing our best to plan for those incidences.
Lets just say this isn't the first time I have been involved with large scale PvP events in an MMO, and even though I will be the first one eliminated on the match floor, it doesn't mean I don't get how to plan for a really great event. I don't see how I can't be absolutely awesome at one without being credible because I am not awesome at the other.
I think that those of you that are hung up on reputations and people being known or not are going to have to deal with that on your own terms and in your own ways.
But before you come hassling someone that you don't know, you better be aware that they might have been the champion behind the idea that really makes your head turn. These folks, those here now, those that were there before and those that come after have the interest of creating great events for people who PvP.
When it's all said and done, it will be your choice on whether you wish to participate or not... but I know that even with my gimped skills I am going to the mat. Because I know I will have fun.

Two naughty acronym teams / Ascension / Convenient / Artic and the Chillz / Fap / Other teams I can't remember (sorry.. mind is goin')
Can we get any idea of the rewards...are these going to be game-time cards, video cards, in-game and board titles, OR:
PvP only accolades that give an Endurance, Health or Accuracy/etc boost earned through the event and usable in the Arena/Zones (similar to items of power).
You said "PvP oriented rewards", what are these exactly.
We aren't really hearing much about the event, rewards, ideas...so far. Is there positive stuff going on?
Also, I assume Issue 9 will be launching in Mayish...will the first event be concurrent with Issue 9 release?
Questions about the game, either side? /t @Neuronia or @Neuronium, with your queries!

Infinity Villains
Champion, Pinnacle, Virtue Heroes
I can so on this for sure, there is a lot of positive stuff going on. Honestly, no BS. It's some pretty good stuff.
Is the Event going to be on Test Server or will this be a concurrent event on live?

Crappers. I can't find the linkie that Rift posted in that gave some information. We really can't say much. But I think its safe to say that it will be run and both live and test.
It has been confirmed that there will be events on Live and on Test.

I don't think it would be a problem if it wasn't the only source of information. To date, all we've known is "there's a committee out there for the PvP community". Not who's on it (unless you've cherry picked it out of someone's sig) or what they're doing. I know there was an event scheduled on my server with the PvPEC brand name, but I have no idea what difference that makes to the event (I'll come back to that in a bit). And then the forums get rearranged - was that a committee recommendation? I have no idea - because I have no idea at all what the committee is doing, or how that matches up to my needs.
[ QUOTE ]
We can not possibly include everyone on the committee. I encourage everyone to utilize their server reps and hero/villian reps if they want to submit feedback to the committee.
[/ QUOTE ]
A reasonable request, if you happen to know who those people are, or that those positions even exist. I didn't know there were specific hero/villain reps until this thread, and I read these forums daily. A representative that you don't know exists isn't representing much.

It's going to be very beneficial to the rest of these committees that the PvPEC came first, because if there's one thing you can see about the PvP community, it's that they're brutally up front with their thoughts. There seems to be an undertone in your post that you somewhat blame the PvP community and some ex-committee members for the ranting and paranoia surrounding the committee's construction, but the fact is that the committee has been lax in terms of communicating with the community they represent. It just so happens that you picked the most vicious bear in the den to poke with that stick first, so the repercussions have been impressive in scale.

The rewards are BOTH in-game items (things that affect your character) and out of game items (game cards, video cards, etc.). Sorry for being so vague, but I can spill too much at the moment.

This is honest and good feedback. As a committee we DO need to communicate better and many of us have expressed that recently. Expect to see alot more communication in the coming days leading up the event.

I think this is a very good move in the right direction, however not just one way vertical communication. Players need to hear what's being proposed and be given an opportunity to have their comments/ideas/suggestions to be heard.

I'll agree that all the work of the committee should have been transparent from the beginning. It isn't like this is a closed beta, where everyone is bound by an NDA. Its a committee that's suppossed to represent the playerbase (not just the forumbase btw).
THAT if anything is one thing I also find fault in with this process. Everything should have been open and transparent from the beginning. One way this is usually done with a committe, is by there bing minutes being taken and then submitted to the "public" a little after each meeting.
So to the committee members, are there minutes taken of the meeting. And if there are why are they not public?
With that said: If there are none, I would suggest taking minutes and revealing at least the parts that you can. If there is specific future game related features that you learn from EX or any other dev, those parts can be NDA'd or something. But definetly I think readable minutes would help.

You can't please everyone, so lets concentrate on me.
Hey everyone.
I'm CZ, and I'm an alcoholic. I am teh PUGmaster and most of you fooks know me already but for those that don't:
-Been playing the game since launch
-Been a hard core arena player since i4 test (lead most of the dev run SG rumbles in kills, take that terpman)
-Former member of HVND
-Current member of FoL
-Originally hail from Champion server
I'll be helping out with running events and some pre-event education for the less hardcore. I am here to make sure the interests of the hard core are heard and so we don't have any BS like over in the EU tourney's where they don't get to use travel powers.

[/ QUOTE ]
I forgot to come back to this, which is a shame since it's part of the source of my confusion.
The deal is this: Vince is pure awesome, and has been organizing great PvP events on Champion recently. His latest event is now an "official PvPEC event", but I can't figure out what exactly that means. As far as I can tell, the event is basically the same as any other event Vince has run lately. In fact, when his computer went belly up, the sign-up thread kind of fumbled around a bit, then the players decided it was best just to postpone the event until the organizer was back in action.
As far as I can tell, the event was going to be organized in the same fashion, rewarded in the same fashion (ie, no prizes but braggin' rights and GGs), and run in the same fashion as random ol' event by random ol' guy. When the organizer had technical difficulties, there was no committee backing him up to ensure that the event still took place, or even to officially inform of any change in plans.
So, what does it mean to be an official PvPEC event? Is it just the same as a random ol' event by a random ol' guy? If so, why bother branding it? What is the goal the committee is trying to accomplish here?
As long as I'm asking about what the committee's up to, might as well ask this, also: was the committee involved in the PvP forum reorganization?
BTW, thanks for the intros and info that has been posted in this thread already - it is appreciated.

Oh, there could be lots of reasons for picking who was picked. Like picking people that aren't rude or full of ridiculous "OMG TEH DEVS HATE US" conspiracy theories. Maybe picking people that aren't superiority complex jerks, or those that don't take statements that people make out of context or otherwise have reading comprehension problems. Maybe people that don't fly off the handle at every percieved slight? Maybe it's people good at organizing things and having follow through, even when it's not something that directly benefits them. Maybe they tried to avoid picking people that inspire others to outright hate them?
Hey, how about they picked people that actually volunteered when the topic was originally broached?
There could be lots of reasons that people were selected, and others weren't.
