Ahhh, I think you might have it. I think I originally was working on the mish with my first acct, but tried to publish with the 2nd. I might have to unlock that group on the 2nd acct, or publish w/ the first.
Thanks, Eva. -
I was working on a new MA mission, where the enemy group was supposed to be the cast of a new fantasy movie. I filled the group with a variety of standard critters with appropriate costumes (some redcaps, CoT, etc), but now I can't publish the arc. I am getting the following error, which I don't understand:
Quote:Are certain standard critters not allowed to be a part of custom groups? If so, then why does the group editor allow them to be added?Custom Group Error: Custom Group, Cast, has the following invalid standard critters: (3, BattleMaiden_Minion), (7, BattleMaiden_Lieutenant), (8, BattleMaiden_Lieutenant_Female), (11, BattleMaiden_Boss). ESTR -
I'm LFT for this event. I have a smattering of pvpable toons, but the best bets are probably my psi/em blaster, my emp/ defender, or my mind/elec dominator.

If you create a custom group that has at least 1 minion, at least 1 lieutenant, and at least 1 boss, each without having the "Do not auto-spawn" flag set, the group will not be penalized at all for the minion-lieut-boss spread, regardless of whether the player's difficulty settings allow for bosses to be spawned or not. If the custom group is made of custom critters, xp for individual enemies will still be adjusted for powers selected.
So, to answer your questions:
1) You'll get 75% xp if all of your custom mobs have standard powers selected, up to 100% xp if your custom mobs have all powers selected or you use standard mobs, despite not seeing bosses.
2) 75-100% xp depending on powers selected. Unless the custom mobs don't have the standard powers, in which case you're boned.
3) Standard critters are always worth at least what custom critters are worth. They will be worth more if either the standard critters are set for higher xp, or the custom critters have any less than extreme power selections. -
Reposting from the other thread on the same topic:
Receiving High Pain Threshold triggered receipt of the Demonic accolade as well, despite not having Coldhearted or Soul Taker.

Easiest way to get the badge: get a lvl 50 rescue a hostage from the Carnival newspaper mission. Set for no bosses, but there will still be a boss at the end, just downgraded to a lieutenant. Reset the mission until that last boss/lieutenant is a Master Illusionist. Then have your buddy with a fire tank come in, turn on Blazing Aura and put Healing Flames on auto, and cozy him up to the Master Ill lieutenant. Then go to bed and wake up the next day with a shiny new badge.
-
I was just coming here to post a Demonic-related bug. I was working on accolades tonight, specifically High Pain Threshold. I had all of the requirements for that except for the Bad Luck badge. Upon receiving Bad Luck, I received BOTH High Pain Threshold and Demonic. This is despite having neither Coldhearted nor Soul Taker which are supposed to be required for Demonic.
Perhaps the Demonic badge got accidentally set to the same requirements as the High Pain Threshold badge? -

I recently finished getting my Task Force Commander accolade, and then I went to spend my merits. I wanted a Numina +Regen/+Recovery, but realized I'd be better off getting the Miracle +Recovery, selling it, buying the Numina's, and pocketing the difference.
So I bought the Miracle for the full merit price. Then, I still had merits left, so I figgered I might as well take a random roll. Ding! Numina +Regen/+Recovery.

Freedom Phalanx and Vindicators show up in the Standard groups dropdown for Contacts, Captives, Allies, and Bosses. I don't think you can select those groups as the enemy group for a map, though.
-
You're not going to get what you want. The closest you can come is to create an ally with a ranged preference and a primarily melee powerset to go along with your bubbling powerset. That ally might bubble you, sometimes.

Just attended my first MA Monday and got nuked by the 20 unkillable death squads. This is a fun event, though. Thanks for organizing.
I'd like to submit my first published arc:
The Tragic Downfall of Olivia St. Michael
Arc ID: 300022
An experiment gone wrong creates a terrible new enemy.
It's 5 missions long, but no defeat alls or missions with a lot of goals. The 2nd mission is timed, and the last contains an AV. The lieuts & bosses in the custom enemy group can be pretty nasty. -
No worries, BA. I can sense humor.
Thanks for the welcome. -
Just reactivated my account, and it seems I've cooked a hard drive. Oh the agony!
At least all my photos/music/important data is on a different disk, so I don't have to be punished for my lax backup practices. Still, I was planning to be punishing some evil-doers right about now! Guess I'll have to fight evil on the crappy old box while the new one reloads.

@Sheema, @SheemaDave checkin' in.
No purple recipes on any of my toons.
Blastronaut (Ice/EM blaster) IO'd, just have to dupe a few LotG's.
Pixel Protector (Emp 'fender) IO'd once I dupe a few more LotG's.Needs accolades, as well.
Pixel Power (storm/energy defender) Currently at level 48, should be 50 shortly. I should have most of the IO's dupable, except a Miracle +Recovery. Needs some accolades.
ETA: all of my pvp experience is on blasters. These defender things are new to me. -

There's gonna be a lot of crosser-server filler alt swapping and trial account padding going on as a result of the prestige grant. 3 million to each SG/VG, regardless of roster-size, would have been a smarter gift, as the mass puppet account and filler toon creation is just wasteful.
Please folks, when you create your filler toons, try not to tie up any cool names. -

I'm apologize for having better things to do than read every post in every thread on the forums, pardon me for having a life and a job that are more important.

Public Service Announcement for Self-Important Jackholes who feel the need to point out how much more important their life is than game-related stuff: DUH! With the possible exception of Cryptic/NCSoft employees who feed their families via this game, every single human being on the planet has more important things to do than anything game-related. The only thing any reasonable reader finds impressive about such a statement is the enormous size of the stick in your [censored]. -
The info's in the thread, and a few others - I made a call for communication, and they've started providing it. If you're too lazy to read what's been provided, that's your own issue.
But the gist of it is, they're planning a big event, with lots of PvP fun for everyone. -
Alright...OK...something's becoming clear. The PvPEC isn't what I thought, or what I believe PsyPunk thought.
Really and truly, I thought a committee was being put together to represent the interests of PvP players. I mean, I knew the primary function was to create events (duh, the name of the committee), but I thought it was more of a fill in the gaps for the support the devs aren't providing for the PvPers. Really, I'm starting to understand that it's more of a "create a great big party" committee. I thought you were the PvP student council, but you're the PvP prom committee.
I think that's why the big conflict w/ PsyPunk. I think he thought (as I did) that the PvPEC was supposed to represent his interests, but that's not the case at all. Of course he was upset that his interests were being "represented" by someone who didn't share or understand his interests at all.
So no, Marut, I don't think he thinks his PvP is more important than your PvP - it's just that the wires got crossed and he's arguing about something different than what the committee's really up to. Of course events for one type of player are just as important as events for another type of player. In fact, I bet the hardcore PvP community would probably state that exact same sentiment to the powers that be in charge of creating Halloween and Winter events (hint, hint).
So, if I'm starting to understand this committee thing, there really is nobody out there to represent the PvP community. But there is somebody out there to plan one hell of a shindig for 'em. -

I know there was an event scheduled on my server with the PvPEC brand name, but I have no idea what difference that makes to the event (I'll come back to that in a bit).
[/ QUOTE ]
I forgot to come back to this, which is a shame since it's part of the source of my confusion.
The deal is this: Vince is pure awesome, and has been organizing great PvP events on Champion recently. His latest event is now an "official PvPEC event", but I can't figure out what exactly that means. As far as I can tell, the event is basically the same as any other event Vince has run lately. In fact, when his computer went belly up, the sign-up thread kind of fumbled around a bit, then the players decided it was best just to postpone the event until the organizer was back in action.
As far as I can tell, the event was going to be organized in the same fashion, rewarded in the same fashion (ie, no prizes but braggin' rights and GGs), and run in the same fashion as random ol' event by random ol' guy. When the organizer had technical difficulties, there was no committee backing him up to ensure that the event still took place, or even to officially inform of any change in plans.
So, what does it mean to be an official PvPEC event? Is it just the same as a random ol' event by a random ol' guy? If so, why bother branding it? What is the goal the committee is trying to accomplish here?
As long as I'm asking about what the committee's up to, might as well ask this, also: was the committee involved in the PvP forum reorganization?
BTW, thanks for the intros and info that has been posted in this thread already - it is appreciated. -

Ex Committee members leaking incorrect information and creating a level of paranoia is really not helpful..
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't think it would be a problem if it wasn't the only source of information. To date, all we've known is "there's a committee out there for the PvP community". Not who's on it (unless you've cherry picked it out of someone's sig) or what they're doing. I know there was an event scheduled on my server with the PvPEC brand name, but I have no idea what difference that makes to the event (I'll come back to that in a bit). And then the forums get rearranged - was that a committee recommendation? I have no idea - because I have no idea at all what the committee is doing, or how that matches up to my needs.
[ QUOTE ]
We can not possibly include everyone on the committee. I encourage everyone to utilize their server reps and hero/villian reps if they want to submit feedback to the committee.
[/ QUOTE ]
A reasonable request, if you happen to know who those people are, or that those positions even exist. I didn't know there were specific hero/villain reps until this thread, and I read these forums daily. A representative that you don't know exists isn't representing much.

We hope to plan two major PvP events per year....Summer/Winter.. Its THAT simple... We hope to start our first event the begining of May. We will release the details of the event as soon as we have something definitive. We are looking to run a series of educational events as well to help people who have never PvP'd before or who would like to improve their skills.
[/ QUOTE ]
Golden information. You don't have to have the details of the event spelled out in blood - it's nice just to know what in general this committee that's supposed to be looking out for me is up to.
[ QUOTE ]
I urge you all to please wait until we have something to actually announce before jumping to conclusions and conspiracy theories...
[/ QUOTE ]
Waiting until something's set in stone before announcing it is too late. For all I know, you're planning a PvP-themed bake sale. If you wait until the brownies are in the oven before you leak any information, it's a little late for anyone to sit up and say "hey, that doesn't represent my interests at all!"
[ QUOTE ]
Finally..we are but one of what I hope will be many player run committees. There will be plenty of opportunities for people to get involved where their intrests lie...Supporting our efforts help all of us in the long run.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's going to be very beneficial to the rest of these committees that the PvPEC came first, because if there's one thing you can see about the PvP community, it's that they're brutally up front with their thoughts. There seems to be an undertone in your post that you somewhat blame the PvP community and some ex-committee members for the ranting and paranoia surrounding the committee's construction, but the fact is that the committee has been lax in terms of communicating with the community they represent. It just so happens that you picked the most vicious bear in the den to poke with that stick first, so the repercussions have been impressive in scale. -
...they aren't, generally speaking, secret societies.
Take, for example, the zoning committee for my city. Their meeting minutes are available on the web. The important topics they are discussing sometimes show up in the newspaper. Many of their meetings are open to the public so that we can see what's being discussed, and at some of them, we are even invited to speak. They don't just show up and rezone my neighborhood without me getting a chance to know the topic is even up for discussion.
Supposedly there is a group of people out there to represent my interests in regards to PvP to the devs. Other than a few names I've managed to randomly pick up here and there, I don't know who they are, or what they're working on, or what they've decided not to work on.
Don't get me wrong. Its great that there's a chair of events, and a community representative for each server, and a grand pubah of PvP badges...but who's the friggin' meeting notes recorder? 'Cause that guy's slackin'.
Forget for a moment the whole selection process, can we find out what the committee is and what they're up to, since it's supposedly on our behalf and all?
A committee appointed solely by the devs and reporting solely to the devs, only represents the devs' interests.
