COH #5 in Top Ten list

Pfff, I like how they counted Warcrack twice using it's expansion. *eye-roll* I wish the games industry would stop having a media love fest over that piece of highly polished *Insert negative adjective here*.

CoH is made of super powered awesome! If it wasn't I know I wouldn't be here. I get bored and wander off easily. >.> Not even Oblivion held my interest for more then a week.

Cryptic's done an excellent job with CoX, and with i9 things are getting even better.

Yes, Tundara, but they also included almost every version of Everquest, as well as both Heroes and Villains.

It is not their personal opinion, if you'll note. It is a documentation of the compiled reviews they've seen.

Wow, DDO got hammered.

#5 huh...

... note to self, link to that page every time a CoX is dying thread pops up... :P

I'd be careful with that. It's not a ranking of popularity or size of the current player base or anything, just a ranking of what the critics thought of it. CoH is the fifth best reviewed MMO on the market, CoV is seventh.

Granted, Star Wars is down around 30, which amuses me greatly.

I've never yet taken a hit from a bad guy skidding across the floor on his keister.

McBeast! Ya got the love of States! How do you feel? The public wants to know!

Wow. Statesman still exists.

Star Wars is number 32. *snicker*

And yeah, I see that all the expansions are individually rated. Still seems kinda cheap to me. We should be number 4 gosh darn it!

Don't know why, its a great game!

The inclusion of expansions is pretty cheesy.

Who is hermanstreet and why are they trying to put a cookie on my PC?

(Yes I know what a cookie is and everything, I'm just fed up with sites that I'm not even on trying to slap more text files onto my PC)

OK, I'm being ratty.

Earth & Beyond was way better than WoW though...

....and DDO is boring unless you're playing with people you know in real life...seriously - I'm convinced everyone who plays that game is a 'dungeon master' on the P&P version and it really is a case of the proverbial 'too many cooks'..

Agreed. The only way I could handle DDO for as long as I did (two months) was because I played with a regular group of people I knew. PUGs were hideous, because EVERYONE already knew where everything was. There was no discovery, someone just walked over to a wall randomly and told me "open this door and untrap the chest" before I could even use my Search skill to know there was a door there.

*shrug*

People say things like that about nearly every MMO.

Posted

True, but most MMOs aren't nearly as predictable as DDO.

O.o

Most MMOs I've played are more predictable as DDO. People know the maps and the combat is so slow you know almost exactly how the fight is going to go. DDO is at least fast paced enough to eliminate much the latter. The memorization of maps in DDO is just all the more apparent because secret doors and traps are such an obvious addition over other MMOs.

You know what? I fell in the same boat with Oblivion. It's a beautiful game, but I think that it was just a little too open-ended turned me off. While MMOs are openended, there's a very logical progression with your options. I prefer that.

Arc# 92382 -- "The S.P.I.D.E.R. and the Tyrant" -- Ninjas! Robots! Praetorians! It's totally epic! Play it now!

Arc # 316340 -- "Husk" -- Azuria loses something, a young woman harbors a dark secret, and the fate of the world is in your hands.

Thanks for posting that info...it's great to see that COH made the top 5 and COV almost made the top 10!

Same, only I didn't beta it. I cancelled my billing on it before completing the first month that was included in the box.

I wanted to like it, I did. But the controls turned me off within the first 20 minutes, and the gameplay made me want to throw it in the garbage. I'm surprised I lasted as long as I did playing it.

You know, I loved DDO. I did. Great interface, great character building and options, great game mechanics, but what killed it for me was replayability. The first time through a dungeon was great. The second time was cool. The 3rd time was meh. What they need is a truly random dungeon generator close to what CoX has. Give it your difficulty setting and team size and let it generate a dungeon for you. It would make the game truly great again.

umm...yippee for some Jack postage. Thats always cool.

Did anyone notice how many times something with "Everquest" in the title made it on that list? Redonkulous.

Yeah, the hand crafted dungeons look great, but they do get old. At least they have started to put random trap locations in the newer maps.
