New WarCry Dev interview
Issue 10 will focus on a level range that you guys have been clamoring about for a while
I'll go ahead and squash that one now. Level cap is NOT going up in I10!
My Speculation is: More TF's and Stuff to do for the Level 35-45 range? PvP zone for that range?
or maybe we do a flashback they reset all servers and we start out as -1

Duh. 35-40. That's been the sparsest range since release.
P.S. WOOHOO! I've been saving two characters at level 40 (one on each side) for like 3 months now in anticipation of I10 having 35-40 content.
Please try my custom mission arcs!
Legacy of a Rogue (ID 459586, Entry for Dr. Aeon's Third Challenge)
Death for Dollars! (ID 1050)
Dr. Duplicate's Dastardly Dare (ID 1218)
Win the Past, Own the Future (ID 1429)
Heh. No kidding. I thought it was obviously 35+ content.

Good. I don't want more levels. I don't want an endless grind. I want more cool stuff to do and more power sets. POWER SETS!!

In one little corner of the universe, there's nothing more irritating than a misfile...
(Please support the best webcomic about a cosmic universal realignment by impaired angelic interference resulting in identity crisis angst. Or I release the pigmy water thieves.)
Nevermind... they gonna further away from what this game does best.
*Edited cause I found out new power sets aren't likely to happen...

New ATs and powerset were all nixed. Posi announced that in this interview a couple of months ago.
[/ QUOTE ]
As an aside relevant to the thread, if not the above post, Posi also said this:
"Our biggest concern right now is the level 35 to 40 content (for Heroes) and level 40 to 50+ content for both Heroes and Villains."
Ideally, this means I10 touches up 35-50.
[/ QUOTE ]
I expect 35-45, but would really love it if there were moon missions that could keep my cosmic heros and villains busy from level 35 to 50 and then some.
[ QUOTE ]
Anyway, that aside done, I didn't see him saying that EATs and new powersets were nixed, so much as they were continually forestalled. Ideally, the solution is to have people design those independently of issue updates, such that they have long-term and short-term goals working simultaneously. In practice, however, that may not be something they can afford.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah. I meant that the new powersets and AT announced for the expansion were nixed for the next few updates, as in we might not see them this year or anytime "soon".
FYI: This (quoted below) was the last word on new power sets that I recall.

Since new power sets seem to be such a huge topic of conversation...
I can definitely say that we're going to try to put new sets into the game over the next year. We'll follow these principles:
1. We'll make sure to read through the Suggestions forum.
2. We'll try to give equal attention to each Archetype.
3. But we'll make sure to address Archetypes with fewer choices first.
Sound fair?

I expect 35-45, too, since the nominal endgame content begins at 45. That said, that's traditionally only two more linked contacts before/in addition to the SF/TF. I don't think it unreasonable for, say, a coop zone

I wouldn't even go so far as to say the next few updates. Remember it was fairly late in I8's development before they pushed back inventions to I9.
Hahaha - I just read Jay's intro.
At one time I wondered why Positron et al didn't give Jay a redname - now I know why. He's like an ADHD version of UncleBob.
Perhaps the key word to be focused on in this statement:

is the one that I have bolded. Clamor, as we all know, is one of the leaders of the Freakshow. Thus, could the expansion be further into the Freakshow storyline? I certainly would not have any complaints on that end
This would also coincide with the already mentioned suggestions of expanding the 35-40 level range.
[ QUOTE ]
The "blue sky" cross server database would be great but that will never happen.
[/ QUOTE ]
Suppose they just combined two of the lesser populated servers? Surely that would be less of a headache than trying to collapse all of them?
Freedom is still my fave. Gotta love being able to get on an 8 man team any time, day or night. I've tried other servers; they're like ghost towns by comparison. Virtue isn't too far behind though.

You heard it here first, the level cap is being raised in Issue 11!
Im cool with new content, after all I have a few toons who will be approaching those level ranges. But I have to say what Ive really been wanting is new Sets and the Villain ATs. Ive tried nearly every set in the game until at least 10lv, and I so badly want to have an archnemesis for my PB. I just hope I dont have to wait until I12 for those things.

just cause the level cap isnt raising doesnt mean we cant get level 50-55 content :P make the heroes and the villains a zone with level 45-55 enemies in it along with missions in there

The RCS doesn't get any love as it is...why bother with 45-55 when 45-50 doesn't even get noticed, except for one visit to say 'oooooooh, big and bluuuue'...
Personally, I'd love to take a journey inside of the spacecraft, perhaps to defeat some Rikti AV? Come to think of it, the Rikti don't even have an AV do they?

Well, I was originally an advocate of the STF being about the Rikti (because Recluse and his cronies are people I've fought to death already anyway - and CoH and CoV shouldn't be mirror images of each other)....but now I'm guessing (hoping...praying...whatever) that when they move the storyline forward in Issue 10-11 that they'll bring back Hero 1 and that we'll be able to enter that Rikti ship...

You read Three Kindoms one too many times, and probably played the game of the same name more that you should have. BUT, I must say that is uber awesome because I grew up on that game (about 20 years now) and love Chinese History.
Oh ya! Almost forgot. Thanks for squashing the level cap raise rumor.

The most difficult thing to develop that I would like to add to our game is a completely new database architecture which allows every single player who plays CoH & CoV to be able to play on the same game server. This means no more server selection screens, no more re-rolling because your real life friends are not on the same server as you, and no more trouble finding a group at 3:00 AM because everyone else is sleeping. Its not an impossible endeavor but my programming team assures me that there is nothing more time consuming and complicated that we could develop for our game at this point.
[/ QUOTE ]
Throw in the towel much? You see, the problem I perceive from this programming/production team is that they work in absolutes. It's an anal-retentive flaw I see all the time at work with engineers. Everything must be perfectly prepared, and complete. If a feature they're working on cannot be fully realized, it's shelved (in this game, that means for a long time). I have a problem with this. What is it about engineers and programmers having a very hard time working compromise? Or does the fault lay at production's feet or higher? This mindset has prevented the release of features like flight poses, and any Crossover.
I really do hope there is someone other than the fans thinking outside of the box around here. After all, if Mythic can figure out how to cluster low pop servers, so can Cryptic. This is better to pursue than doing nothing at all, because it's too HARD to do perfectly.
I think of the designers as the dreamers of the dreams and the programmers as the ones who can turn the dreams into reality. Sometimes dreams are fulfilled, sometimes they're not. Depending on the complexity, the availability of resources (not just money), the time necessary to accomplish a particular project, and how the existing portions will be affected can have a huge impact on what does or does not go into the game.
There are lots of things I would like to see, such as a single server for all, levels beyond 50, a fourth visible row for powers, but these things may not be part of the design plan. This, however, does not mean I'm going to stop playing the game. It's quality of life issues. Most are trivial, but there are a small number that would truly improve game play. The real question is 'what kind of scope must be examined in order to accomplish this?' If there are other weightier items that take precidence, then something has to get the axe and likely, it'll be that one thing that everyone is yelling for. Don't know why, that's just the way it is

Just because they *can* doesn't make it a good idea. I like my low pop servers exactly as they are, thank you very much. I've played on Freedom. I'm not into that kind of bother every time I play. If you are, there's a solution - play on Freedom.
