A lot of folks seem to feel that theres a content gap in the late 30s in CoH.

I've never encountered it myself though.

But yeah, end game is where content focus needs to be for CoH. CoV could use some of the seperate paths to take that CoH already has. The Hollows-Faultline-Striga-Croatoa chain kind of thing.

[/ QUOTE ]

It depends on how you work it, but there is a potential for a gap to happen on both sides in the late 30s. Once I hit 40 though, I never seem to have any problems.

Arc# 92382 -- "The S.P.I.D.E.R. and the Tyrant" -- Ninjas! Robots! Praetorians! It's totally epic! Play it now!

Arc # 316340 -- "Husk" -- Azuria loses something, a young woman harbors a dark secret, and the fate of the world is in your hands.

nice big article that doesn't tell us anything except this:

Issue 10 will focus on a level range that you guys have been clamoring about for a while.

[/ QUOTE ] and even that doesn't really tell us anything.
gah!

[/ QUOTE ]

35 to 40 (particularly 38 to 40)

It's the only range of levels in the game you completely run out of missions and are forced to grind out a zillion experience.

Scanners helped (they got me over the hump), but that's not "content".

People have been screaming about that range for over two years now.

They'll likely add content to a range larger than just 35 to 40 (my guess would be 35 to 45), but I'd bet the farm on that range (35 to 40) being included.

As for the rest.

How can anyone be surprised that there would be no new ATs (Villain EATs specifically), or powersets or any of that sort of stuff ???

They as much said there'll be very little or none of that from here on out.

Such short memories.

I didn't see anyone say there wouldn't be any new powersets, just ATs...

I think there should be a daily parade in Atlas Park, from The Hollows entrance to the Perez Park entrance, and through the legs of Atlas in commemoration of all the great accomplishments of our game's level 50s. Statesman would lead the way, and Positron would bounce slowly up and down behind, with all the glorious level 50 heroes riding horses and giant robots and big shiny fire trucks.

And there should be eggs. Raw eggs.

Very little or none ...

Posi said they were dinking around with a couple ... Pistol Corruptors in particular.

But he also said that new powersets are a lot of work that don't hit a large target audience. He also said that list on the white board had been all but scrapped.

Combined with the constant pushing of villain EATs since I4 comment ... I extrapolated.

We may get the Pistol Corruptors (and presumeably the hero side counterpart for Defenders or Blasters or both), maybe I10 or I11, but I wouldn't be expecting much else anytime soon.

My guess is that from here on out it'll be additions to the invention system ... Now that they have the mechanic in game they can add recipes and salvage without really having to code much ... And zone revamping.

I wouldn't be looking for much in the way of all new from the ground up till MUO.

If I10 is focused on Da Moon (new 35 - 45 content) , then I11 would have the new sets promised in the Retail Box, because they said they split out the box stuff into Issues 9 - 11.

I'm jus trying to figure out what accomplishments our players have actually done...

Until Issue 10 I can't see anything having changed....the streets are filled with thugs...the big pile of jelly is still there, just hiding at first....the Rikti haven't moved position...even though they're supposed to be a real threat.

I've just had the thought....they should have more random-timed, un-announced events where certain villain groups make forays into areas they don't usually. Lke the Rikti invasion, or the Rulaaru appearances all over the city. Just have them pop up as if making an assault in different zones once every few days, or once a week, or something...

It would add a random element to the oh-so-structured gameplay...

Even though the dev's previously stated the canceled box set was supposed to have new AT's/Sets, and that all the stuff from that box would be in the free contact of I9-I11, several things have changed.

Inventions were supposed to be part of I8, but were pushed back to I9. The big story part of I9 was apparently pushed back to I10. Position recentl stated, as the other posted said, that new sets/AT's are in limbo basically for several reasons.

New sets/AT's might not be exactly on the backburner, but they're close enough to stay warm.

I12 then? I predict the uproar over no new sets in I9 or 10 will be enough for them to push whatever else off to 12 and make 11 then new sets (or Villain EAT) Issue.

Am I bad person for wanting both new sets and the villain khelds in I-10 or I-11?

This isn't going to sound (read) right, and I don't mean it this way but ...

Get over the villain EATs ... They're most likely (not for sure, but most likely), never going to be done. Posi said that they simply are more work than they're worth, and have been pushed each issue since I4.

No ... I seriously doubt you have the ability to be a bad person.

Overly optimistic maybe

Of course not.

That doesn't mean it will happen, though. It sounds like LR just told us we're not getting new sets in I10. Perhaps we may get Villain Nictus in I10 as a suprise, but I doubt it. I11 needs to have those sets, though, or there will be trouble.

If we're talking Coralax Hybrids or Blood of the Black Stream then sure, those are probably pipe dreams. Villainside Nictus however, is just a port of certain Kheld sets and it could probably use the Warshade graphics. I'm gonna go and say it: this would be very EASY for them to do!

Yes, I have hidden knowledge about how easy it is to port existing sets.

Hehe... well, it seemed pretty easy when they ported Dark Melee and Armor to Stalkers. I expect it's "as simple" to do the same with Kheld sets.

Very...very....bad.....

Naughty! Naughty! BAD L_A!!

I think they'll make one of those Issues a 'new AT' Issue, and call it something like 'Issue 10: A New Wave'...

Hey cool, my question got answered - in true cryptic fashion. It is good to hear that they're going to be doing some work on SGs and bases though, even if we're going to have to speculate wildly to figure out what exactly is coming down the pipe.

[/ QUOTE ]

Speculation? On the Internet?

Well ... I guess We can give it a try ... you never Know, it might actually catch on.

Yes, but the issue is not the sets themselves. Its the villain content that goes along with the kheld sets that would be complicated. To give the villains that khelds without content would cause an uproar, since that would be unfair since the heroes get all those kheld arcs.

Another problem is the same reason why we have yet to see lv 50 content in the game, there are so few lv 50's villains compared to the overall player base. Spending many resources on content that only a few would be able to access might not be a good idea. We might see high level content in I10, but since it most likely takes place in a coop zone you can justify that more people would be able to experience it.

The COH experience has also shown that many people do not like khelds, so people that has tried them out hero side might not be interested in them villain side.

When you fact all of this in, you can make a case as to why the devs are using limited resources on other parts of the game and not on villain khelds.

IIRC those Kheld-specific arcs were added later. Did they debut the same time as the Kheldian AT itself?

As far as Villain Khelds having little appeal, I see this as a low hanging fruit, that would appeal to some people, and they could then say that both Heroes and Villains have an EAT. After all thet talk about Coralax, Incarnates, the now-defunct Avilans, and BotBS, it's the least they can do!

The other problem with just porting Warshades over as Nictus is that they would immediately outclass many of the ATs in CoV.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.
