There is an XP cap in the game now. The maximum XP you can get from any one single entity is 50% of a level, so 5 bars.

either way, im getting my em stalk to 30..and my new dom as high as he can get, and whatever else i can leech out.

I see it now, Firday, get home at 530pm, dinner 6pm, coh 7pm-6pmsat, take shower and go on date,come back, coh until sunday night, lol.

xp: tons
sleep: none
Spending a couple days getting most my villains up to 40/50 if possible and PL'ing my friends as well: priceless

Just a bit of a note for the conspiracy theorists here:

The first test of the double XP system was before the following things:

- Layoffs at NCSoft
- Release of Issue 7
- Crash of Global Chat

For it to arrive on the test server before all these things it had to be in the planning stages and internal testing for at least a couple months prior to that.

This should be fun, I've got a few characters I want to get up to travel powers!

I'm still gonna try There's always the very off chance that by doubling the xp they accidentally doubled that cap. Bugs FTW!

Normally, I'd agree, but the devs are also looking at bringing high-level content in upcoming issues, and the number of maxed-out villains is still pretty low, proportionate to the player population. They're trying to increase the pool of players at the cap before these come out.

This has to be a joke!

First of all why would they do this on the weekend of the biggest COmic COnventions in the US? Im talking about San Diegos COmic Con.

Someone needs to PM Cuppa or another RED NAME, im sure NC Soft is going to have a presence there and try to market their games, so what better way to do that and say, hey buy our game, and guess what, on sunday night whnen you install it youll have a chance to get double xp for 2 of the 72 hours! WOOHOO!

This is LAME. I am grateful for the double XP event, but on a weekend with a huge event like this, and yes its a huge event, becuase this game caters to COmic Book Fans, hence it being a Superhero MMO.

Come on DEVS! This is RUDE!

Anything they picked as compensation would anger someone.

If it were a free respec, people who still have their I7 freespec would be mad.

If it were just the ability to change your global name again, people who have the global they want and don't need to change would feel ripped off.

If it were just another jingle jet temp power, the same people who complained that it was useless to them during the Holiday Event would complain.

So they are between a rock and a hard place no matter what they do here. Double XP has been something other MMOs have done and is something a lot of people have asked for in the two plus years this game has been live.

Yeah. And frankly, the WL event was hugely popular. I didn't like all the cluebies with no idea how to use their powers, but frankly, that's just the most accessible of 20 different exploits you could PL someone with. But I remember how crowded the servers were, every night, night after night.

We'll see the same thing now.

I'm damn happy about it. I only wish there was some way I could do it longer... I have about 20 alts I'd like to try, and frankly, I don't want to do them all the hard way.

I'm grateful for the XP Boost. Ive just remade a character and the boost will help me get her up.

But to do this on Comic-Con weekend?? That's just plain rude. They should just put it on this weekend lol. Why wait a week?

WL levelling put every other powerleveling trick or tactic to shame. You can't even put it into the same country as old Dreck farming or classic bridging. There's been two or three xp-earning restrictions put into place due solely because of the WL event, making it a situation that could never be recreated, barring a bug.

Well, it did come right after I3 which introduced Striga Isle and the new Kheldian AT. I'm sure that had nothing to do with it.

Respectfully, I just think you're overselling the whole WL event, in the same way people tend to oversell the end-of-beta events.

This thread's great. Why would you complain about something like this? If you're so intent on not gaining XP, either don't log in during this double XP period or die several times to get debt to make up for it. Seriously, you guys would complain if the dev team gave you back massages every month your accounts stayed open. This isn't going to ruin the game any more than the Winter Lord event, which also didn't ruin the game at all. People who complain about gifts are of questionable sanity.

I guess I'll weigh in on this:

Yes, if it is indeed when this article says it is, then its really bad timing. BUT we havnt heard anything official on when this 'event' will be.

Is 2x xp a bad idea? I dont think so. Its alot safer then the Winter Lord even was. With Winter Lord you got people into the 20s without them knowing how to play their character. With this 2x xp people still have to learn how to use their powers to defeat things.

All in all, Im excited for this. I can finally get my scrper and blaster out of the lvl 39 no contact blues. So it makes me happy.

This means the double XP event is probably just marketing, or, as another post said, an effort to get Villians into the higher levels so that Hero v. Villian base raids are not one-sided.

Unless the double XP comes with some bug fixes for Masterminds (pets not following through doors, not responding to commands, etc.), I'm afraid some of my MM buddies will just be standing around soaking up the XP and infulence and not joining in the reindeer games.
