Official Thread for Recluses Victory: PvP Zone

I think this zone is a ton of fun. It is very balanced, atleast on training server. The only complaint I have is that once Statesman/Recluse and friends come out your dead in 2 hits or less and get debt. On a brute Statesman 2-shotted me from behind before I even had time to react. Wasn't the death that bothered me was the debt that came with it. Course on training I didn't care but if was on live.....

I'm REALLY enjoying the lack of inspirations in RV on test right now. I'd play in there on live often, on both sides, if they flat out banned inspiration use in PvP.

The entire zone feels balanced. Folks that are Eluding are almost impossible to hit. Got your 9th tier dam-res power up, you're NOT taking much damage and it WILL take several enemies to bring you down.

On the flip side, I ran a dom, 2 different builds.. was WAXED 6 times, and got one lucky kill on a hero squishie of some type. Maybe if villain squishies each have their own brute with taunt 6 slotted they'll be ok, but trying to play a squishie solo in PvP is a freaking suicide mission.

I'm admittedly not a PvPer, but I was duoing with a friend, he was using Build Up, I had Forge on him, and double accuracy in his attacks and he wasn't even able to hit an Elude scrapper AT ALL. Is this right? I'm not understanding how that massive to-hit is cancelled. Can someone show the numbers?

I'd just like to point out that turrets are still being teleported into the hospitals when their owners are defeated - thus making those pillboxes virtually impossible to retake.

Other than that this has been a really enjoyable event so far - and it's given me some nice teasers of builds I'd like to try on live, as well as helped me avoid making some mistakes

Was having great fun in there - playing mostly the Energy/Elec Brute I made (Neutrino), and a Fire/Sonic Controller (Brevilletronic 6000). I hope I have time to try out some more stuff tomorrow!

LOL Sin! Damn, this is the most popular server event yet. This franchise desperately needs a dedicated PvP server that's linked to all the PvE servers so we can see that every night we enter a PvP area/arena

aw hulbert, that's not like you to be so shy. go ahead, call out those people that need to be nerfed.

[/ QUOTE ]

Let's not go down that road again, afterall I didn't say all scrappers or even mention regens. No, I just pointed to stacking travel powers and "jousting"... Afterall... why should their 2 Travel powers trump my entire Primary & Secondary? I'm a firm believer in Twitch and still hate the horrible... horrible idea, that is "suppression"... but that doesn't mean I'll be content with some FotM 2-shotting me by bypassing every self defense (and Offense) with 2 very generic and over-abused power pools.

Aka: Scrappers? No, Scrappers are Fine... Superleap + Superspeed? ...Needs to be brought in line with other powers in the game that don't stack in such ways as to negate entire Archetypes from PvP...

It's even overpowered on Blasters and Doms... Go figure, Eh?

Mucho fun running around with random fighting all over.

I only had one GRRRR!!! moment. I was fighting an orange Warden boss to test out the build I had just logged in. I was jumped by a Hero. No biggie, I'll fight him, cool! What? The Warden has me Taunted! Argh!

Taunting mobs. How annoying.

Otherwise, I'm enjoying myself, even though I don't PvP much (or all that well, in all likelihood).

Call me crazy, but I also think I saw a Spines warden go MoG... and an MA warden go ellude.... It was seriously messed up if you ask me because we all know Bosses get bigtime recharge discounts on all powers and could probably be Perma on those powers if their AI script allowed it.

I can vouch for a Warden going Elude on me.

I just kept draining its end so I could whiff on it. Boring!

Got it when it wore off though.

Played a Brute for a while. Ya, longbow are overpowered for sure. I 1v1 a Warden, and lose.... All my attacks are 2acc, 2dmg, 1 end 1 recharge. (Firemelee), and I'm using Elec Armor secondary, all shields with 3 Resist.

Oh, and I see that debt is STILL in PvP zones. Damnit, remove that ridiculous policy. Debt is NOT fun, and we goto PvP zones to have fun. Then you make it so we get FULL debt for the LAST hit being done by an NPC? Great, wonderful. When this goes live, I won't be doing RV, not worth it, not fun at all.

Oh, and the 1hp/1end is even MORE ridiculous then when I first read it. It doesn't effect everyone evenly, Masterminds are just worthless because of it, and Masterminds die faster than any other AT. Um, yah, PvP outside of the Arena or Base Raids just suck balls. If it wasn't for the PvP Missions giving more exp than normal missions, I'd never go into PvP zones.

Oh, and the Signature Hero's. Great way to just punish players. Had atleast 20 villains on Positron (And manticore is around too!) and we couldn't dent them at all. was like, 30500/30600 at best. And there was TWO of them.

RV reminds me of the stereo-typical DnD Dungeon master. His goal? Kill atleast half of the player characters per session. Thats NOT how you make a fun game.

Slapped together a MA/Regen to get a feel for it out there. I was shredded my a Ninja MM and a /kin corruputer. Had I had teleport, I could have gotten away. But, no, I had SS. I was slowed to a crawl, then had a bunch of caltrops thrown under me. That's all she wrote.

I was toast in seconds.

As I stated earlier, slows and end draining are the masters of pvp now. And the MM bodyguard power... very nice.

Be well, people of CoH.

my only annoyance in RV is all the [censored] bubblers with their repulsion bubble or whatever the hell it's called :-/

I've been to RV before this event, fun on the down times, and horrendious on the hero peak times. Yet, now, OMG, talk about a blast. Non-stop mayhem and both sides seem to win equally.

I died less times as my thugs / traps MM, Namine, then my electric / electric brute, Marjorie Scyphe. I've also killed more while playing as my MM then my brute. But I tested what I wanna, and yeah electric / electric brutes can sap a player dry if you build it correctly, ( regen scrappers takes a li'l longer, but it's possible, if they don't play the "ADHD, on crack, plus an overdose of sugar high, while downing a quadshot mocha carmilla jumping-bean" game) and, boy oh boy, heroes seem to run when they see I am sapping them ( hence the "I'm Mrs. Bunny Foo-foo" game commencies )... My down fall; I didn't pick up the medicane pool >.<;; , so I can be easily whiped if heroes gangbang on me.

As my MM, I held a turrent over an hour or so, and wow this was the longest battle I saw for the zone. My fellow villians left me all alone, only checking on the pillbox status time to time, and I felt soooo proud that I can stop waves of heroes all by myself *gleams*... that is until Posi showed up... That's a diffrent story. Now, bodyguard actually saved me more times then I can count when going mono on mono, or even a small group of heroes. However, neutral turrents can shread though me even with bodyguard up... such insane damage for a small pea shooter.

Now heavies, I love them as my MM, but as for my brute, they seem to be only useful for killing the turrents. Heck I barely dent posi as my brute w/heavy. As my MM, aside whiping out my pets and ending my turrent reign of supremacy ... Posi seem to take alot more damage, then again he attacked me so fast I hardly had time to resummon more minions. Such is life, but it was a blast gaurding pillbox Gulf, from the heroic ice / ice ( not sure on secondary ) tanker. He gave his life 3-4 times before Posi helped take over my mini-base *sniff*. I salute you tanker ( I wish I gotten his name dowm >.<; ).

I did notice, I can command a heavy like a MM, which is great for my MM AT. Heck I made keybinds for all pet commands, just on test I forgot a few >.< ... anywho, I did notice, if I manually tell my heavy to attack a X target, or a hero, all my pets, turrents, and my heavy will go all out on that target, not just the heavy.

Also speaking of turents, it seems I can also controll them like MM pet, but they seem to be on defensive all the time, even if I tell them to go aggressive. Yet, I can tell them which target to attack. Just seems odd since they arrgo to the "other side" if no one is in it, and I still need to test this, but they seem to be manual if a player is inside.

Oh well, overall a extreemly fun event. I must play more RV later @.@ ...

RV is fitting for 50's. And villains, if they coordinate, are every bit as powerful as heroes. I don't want to hear any more gripes. Overall the Devs did a great job with the zone. It was hectic and fast paced and full of excitement. I think it may have gotten a little too hectic at times, because the action did not stop. The whole no health/no endurance thing has got to go. It is just a hastle really.

I killed as a couple different "under powered AT's" so no one should be really complaining. I even killed as a fire/kin controller, so other trollers surely have a chance. Used an elec/elec blaster build too...not very useful. I think I was just not made for PVP; I just gotta go back when I hit 50. Definitely a cool zone.

Drawbacks: MM's rock if all the pets are thereand you are used to playing with them AND you can transport them, but if you can't transport them, you are absolutly useless. Tanks may be over powered. There were a bunch of villains already attacking this tank and I rolled up with my Thug/dark MM and all pets AND Gang War and it still took a while to kill him. Still fun though.

Overall: if the zone calms down just a little(due to everybody and their mama being on test) and the signature AV's /Heroes get tweaked, it could be an EXTREMELY addictive zone.

Nice thoughts and post - but two things:

You seem surprised that a Fire/Kin can kill?!?!?!!? Huh. Have you not seen the monkey herders from day one. Even post EDaggedon they still are flaming terrors. That combo is probably second only to some powerful Illusionist ones as far as single player kill aspects go.

And Tanks overpowered?!?!?!??! Huh. There is only ONE aspect of Tanks that is anywhere nearing overpowered and that powerset is a universal troublemaker through AT boundaries. Tanks take a little longer to kill now that you can't sneeze at them and knock their toggles off. But people still treat them as a roadbump, or more like an obstacle. The only time I even saw a Tank being useful today was when they Taunted me. Otherwise they were running around looking for fights with the Connor McCleod look from the beginning of Highlander.

"Why won't they fight me dammit!"

Hehe, but they sure weren't getting any kills either.

I LOVED the no insps version of RV today. It really streamlined the entire PvP process and made everything so much simpler. Simpler is usually funner, and in this case it was definitely the case. Too bad it won't stay like that.

As for Elude - whoa!

I had 3 slotted FA, 3 slotted Invince, +5% Axe bonus and 2 accuracies slotted in all attacks and I couldn't hit. With Buildup on top of it I was still only hitting at around 20%.

I posted this to get a general view and the anti FA naysayers immediately pounced on everything wrong with the world and PvP and elude and FA and how little kittens were being murdered in rogue countries across the world. Apparently nothing should be able to beat Elude except a fully stacked team with everyone running Tactics and FA, and everything should be able to overcome FAs gamekilling effects. (hyperbole abounds - hehe)

And I ran across a MoG'ing Warden also. Freaking rough. Without the Power Sink on my cool new Elec/Elec I woulda been toast!

RV- most fun i've ever had in CoX i think, like, legitimately. but debt really does damper it some

Posted

Ok just curious, are the nuetral and hero/villain turrets all supposed to give debt?

Kinda like hero pets giving debt isn't it since technically those turrets become player pets...

Posted

how'd you have FA if you're only level 40?

btw i had tons of fun too, esp. w/out inspirations. my EM/stone brute was in perma-granite and I killed a invic/ tank a couple times, the first time he had unstoppable going and we duked it out for a few minutes until it crashed, it was so fun

he never did do enough damage to make me trigger earths embrace, but I couldn't dent him much either most of the time

Posted

Nuetral Turrets spawning at 54s, but PC turrets at 50... Even so, they didn't die too quickly.

Played a bit with a sorta-PvP human-form Peacebringer... and again found out that Mezzing is the winner. Even solo Brutes and Stalkers nearly took me out several times

Yawn.

Stalkers, brutes and masterminds seemed to be the only PvP FoTM for villains, while scrappers seemed to be FoTM for Heroes.

Still here, even after all this time!

Probably been suggested before but several things I'd like to see in RV,

one signiture heroes/villains that cant one shot tanks/brutes
two make them about the same power level as ten toons, more than one team can handle, but less than two teams can handle
three, keep them from bunching up, making themselves unstoppable by anything less than 50 to 100
four remove debt from the zone, As is thanks to the turrets, where this live, I'd give serious thought to avoiding RV altogether
five, institute companies, basically a team of up to eight team leaders, one of which would be the commander, complete with a company channel that only team leaders can speak on, but all in the company can hear, the commander would see the other seven teams, numbers with a /slash afterwords to show number on team still in range of the leader and alive, average health, average energy, and team leader locations.
Six, as option, see the health and energy of all toons on one's side within a small radius.

I didn't play a Tank today in RV - only villains. Plenty of experience with Tankers, so no real need to test.

And my Tanker was level 40 back in August (?) of '04, so no problems there.

This is far and away the most fun I've had ingame since... well... ok.. It's just the most fun I've had..

We had a combined 4 or 5 villain teams running together for a bit and we were rockin'. Every time a hero team showed they died quickly or fled the scene.

What's with the fear/terrorize? Seems a bit excessive..

Tonight brute and MM.. tomorrow.. I'm going with a dom and corr to see how they do.

Then I'll have to switch to heroes for a bit.

Posted

Event out the supers. I've seen a good 3-4 Heroes nearly constantly, and though I like sleeping'em tro make myself feel powerful, I would like to see some AVs once in a while. After hours and hours not a single one.

Posted

They aren't going to remove debt from the zone. I don't think they can actually do it that way anyways.

Debt is given by NPCs defeating you. Not for where you are. We don't get debt in PvP normally because we fight other PCs.

Probably a *better* idea would be that the Signature Hero/Villains don't give debt, as they are fairly overwhelming (and defeating them for XP is very laughable.)

Still here, even after all this time!

Perhaps my search-fu is weak, but, but in the few pages I’ve checked I did not see an answer as to how people already are above (several levels above) level 40? I created a Robot MM when I got home from work. At the time heroes were winning a lot. When villains stated to win I decided to create a hero (I'm funny that way). From then on it was a matter of much higher stalkers taking me out every step I took. That’s no big deal, I’ve PvP’ed before, and all it made me miss my 45 Tank. I was a bit confused as to how people lvled so far. Are there contacts available outside PvP for missions? If not, seriously, did you guys get from 40 to 50 by hunting in other zones? If you did..... well, wow.... seriously....... wow.

Anyway, I hope that when this zone goes live, it isn't a 50's only club. As a slow lvler 45 1/2 is the highest I've got. If it's anything like the test, I don't think I need to bother showing up until he's lvl 50.

Everyone is auto SKd to 50 in RV. Nothing special there.

not only av's but the turrets. The reason I wanted no debt? so casuals dont get discouraged and go back exclusively to pve. As is, if this were on live, even if I were a dedicated pvper which I am not, pver mostly, either I'd the debt cap quickly thanks to the potence of the turrets, bosses everywhere, and the signiture toons, or I'd be spending most of my time malefactoring away the debt.
