The Pedant's Guide to CoV Typos!
My favorite is the merc's shouting "Saftey's off!" as they charge into battle.
Thank goodness I can shut off pet dialog.
Personally, I dutifully /bug the suckers, but I don't see how a thread like this will move the process along any faster.
Ugh. I hate the Safety typo, I've reported it more than once.
I have a few screenshots of errors. I clipped them to the important area and circled the errors in red.
When I got Crash Cage as a contact: Crash Cage
Diviner Maros - i before e, except after c. 3 errors in one paragraph!
Officer Emmert Error, or is he just cold?
Operative Kirkland Too many vias.
Psymon Omega, or is it Psimon?
Merc Serum Power , the description on the power select screen. I haven't checked if that's been fixed. It should say 'wears'.
Newspaper Mission in Sharkhead.
Stella the Mouth , a broker in Nerva. Should say 'knocked'. * I just realized there's also a T missing in the, as in "if the place got knocked over."
Safety's makes sense to me.
Safety's = safety is, not "belonging to the safety".
Edit: And a merc shouting "The safety has been disengaged so that I may propel bullets from my offensive device!" doesn't quite have the same feel to it, you know?

Me, too. It's the 'saftey' that we take issue with.

D'oh. I hadn't noticed that.
The confusion of "its" vs. "it's" is rampant throughout CoV. Very annoying.
MM Robots, when given an attack order, will respond "Attack order recieved"; they don't have the "i before e" rule worked out too well there either.
And poor Doc Buzzsaw. The contact description refers to "she" and "her" consistently, but her story arc and some of her mission clues refer to "he", "him", "his". They can't figure out what sex Doc is.
Surly some of these things could be fixed with a simple run through with a spell checker.
The i before e ones could, but not the it/it's problems, or other places where they've used the wrong word (like the wears/wares one), since even a grammar checker can't always work out the correct context.
And stop calling me surly.
Spelling champion here too...
Seeing mispellings in a professional environment is unsettling.
I cannot comprehend how these things happen.
heck, a gal at work can't spell licensed without using to c's and can't do wednesday either.
Bad spelling is so common I am more amazed if anyone can spell anything.
and don't get me started on math. most folks can't do simple math either. I do it faster in my head than they can on a calculator....Schools today...geez.
rofl....to too two...Murphy's law in action. Point out someone else's foibles and mine come through the loudspeaker. lol
Not so much a case of misprint but more of a total confusion thing.
If you ever do the Cult of the Shaper arc you'll notice that it seems they sometimes refer to Calystix as both a man and a woman. I had a long debate with a team once who were doing the final battle in my arc, only to be totally dumbstruck when I looked at his/her bio to see that Caly does actually get referred to as a she in the info but looks like a man.
Very confusing.
Maestro's info window used to mention his conflict with SPIDER. Manticore mentioned later that "Just to be clear there is no spider, only Arachnos.".
I'm not sure if it has been fixed yet, but I have my doubts.

it hasn't, killed em just the other day
I dunno, I feel that Arachnos is a better name for the origanisation. SPIDER just doesn't have the same ring to it for a large worldwide crimminal organisation. Its as cringeworthy as SHIELD and HYDRA from the Marvel universes.
SPIDER could still exist if it's an operation codename thats part of Project Destiny.

Nah... Recluse names everything WEB... I'm sure he refers to Project Destiny as that, too...
It's a cunning plan, really. With so many things using the same name... the tunnels below Warburg, his old crime syndicate in Paragon, his base of operations... It'll be hard for the heroes to determine which Web is which.
In short, the SPIDER text error in Maestro's description is still there! Thanks for staying on topic!
This, boys and girls, is why I make up my own stories for everything in-game. For instance, instead of getting info on Ghost Widow to see what her background is, I would just come up with something like the following:
"Ghost Widow is dead, yet can interact with the living. That's the ghost part. Also, her husband is dead. That's the widow part. Not much else is known about her other than the fact that Lord Recluse power-leveled her to 40 by herding Longbow. The end."
Now isn't that much better?
Don't you all mean: Ghost Window?
That's how she is referred to in a Leery mission at the opening window (or widow?) when you enter the mission.
She's a spiritual defenestrator! Or maybe just a flattened crystal ball. Silver her backside and she'll be the one who answers to "Mirror, mirror on the walll..."

You should see far fewer typo's in powers with I7. Thing's like "it's" for "its" on the other hand, are still likely to crop up and be low priority fixes.

Typos and spelling mistakes are invevitable, aren't they?
I know I have to edit most of my posts to fix up grammar and spelling mistakes even if I go over them before hitting "Submit," and I used to make beer money in university proof-reading papers.

If you are a grammar/spelling nazi like myself, you cringe every time you see one of the many typographical errors in CoV! Since /bugging them in game doesn't seem to work, maybe if we make a big thread of them, someone will see them and have them fixed! Let's try to keep this thread lean and mean! List the mission and contact if possible, then quote the erroneous text, then type it again as it should be written! OK, go!
Seer Marino's Ghost Widow mission. At the end of the compelling cutscene, Ghost Widow ends her chilling and eloquent soliloquy by saying, "Your doom is at hand* ... and it's name is [player character's name]!" This totally defuses the drama (and makes GW look kind of dumb) for those who like to see good written English.
*Paraphrased.
Please change

its name is
(Remember: his, hers, its - not hi's, her's, it's!)
Thanks.
