It's a live Glommie!!!! Say hey to Mali.
It's interesting insight into gamers today that they feel insulting a jerk is a good thing. In my mind, now they are both jerks. Have they never heard of "two wrongs do not make a right".
I can't keep going...That whole post was bad. "Back up his trash?" What do we have to back up? Is this a wrestling match? This type of behavior Encourages trash talking.
Why are their ego's tied into how they perform in pvp in a virtual world? Why does winning or losing have any effect at all?
ahhh phooey. -
omg. There are normal people who don't support or encourage or excuse, verbal abuse online. I cannot believe. I love you guys. You have restored my faith in humanity.
-
So much for setting a good example. You can see by the replies of the active pvp'rs they have no desire to treat each other well or encourage other players. Same as always unfortunately. I posted this same sort of thing a few years ago saying that I don't trash talk and I alwayscongratulate those that kill me. Didn't fly. Same sort of odd responses.
I can't comprehend their need to behave in that manner and they can't comprehend my lack of desire to interact with those who behave in that manner.
So, advice. Ignore everything. Turn off all chat. or, As alot of these pvp'rs have done. Go to arena and fight folks you know or are part of the usual arena gang. Those guys generally help players and each other.
I love the zone fights but most of the big jerks hang there. -
Sheer genius. ...Barbie dress up! Exactly. Now, If I could get some good mannered kids into pvp, rather than our current crop, I would be very happy.
Definately best Thread ever! Made my day.
Ah heck, forget my greed. Keep the kids outta pvp and have fun! -
Most of the groups on that post claim to have quit pvp. I found two that are active. Help! I want massive pvp again! I prefer villain pvp, heroes have too many advantages. Give me the bad odds!
-
Quadruple the debt cap. Then, Only those who really enjoy pvp would play and those concerned with pve debt and playing nice would stay in their safe zones.
Why is it ok to get debt in pve but folks freak out if it is in pvp? That thought process is completely backwards to me. -
The devs can do whatever they want in pvp.
As long as I can dress up in a pair of spandex and Destroy my enemies. I will be there.
I have some issues with hero vs villain balance but none with debt. This game has the smallest debt penalty I have seen in the last 15 years of mmo's. Bring it on. I call debt, my pvp encouraged savings account.
and yes, I know, I view the world differently than most. -
I hear ya thor and i understand Ya'lls point.
imho, A team of corrupters doing well in RV isn't a good case to show that high level villains are competitive in pvp. It shows 1 villain AT can compete and do it well, that's it.
Pentad vs pentad would be the best case.
I am glad ya'll are doing well and I hope to come help this weekend. But, assuming high level villains can be competitive based on the performance of one AT is jumping the gun a bit.
If your LOTD buds would have said a Corrupter team can be competitive in high level pvp I would agree, but the question is about all AT's, not just one. Heck, I bet we could find an effective all defender team but that would only show that defenders can be competitive. Get my gist?
I can't wait to see you guys in action. It will make me happy to see any villain AT do well in high level pvp, but I hope more of us can be effective too. -
I'm with Jdos on this one LOTD.
You had an organized pvp sg vs disorganized heroes.
That doesn't seem like an equal comparison.
Tell us when you can do well vs organized hero teams in RV.
I really want to believe you, but my own experience tells me different.
I really hope the devs look at ppp's and high end pvp balance. -
NO! I'm right and you're wrong. Quote me on that.
rofl. I see these quote wars and I skip everything they say.
It's egoes battling for rightness when we are merely stating opinions. Everyone's opinion is right! -
I would rather be shot than listen to the type of abuse folks heap on each other nowadays. lol
heck, I would rather shoot them than hear it.
Now that is Southern. rofl -
Shame shame. Don't let the yankee attitude get ya mon.
The Texan in me couldn't take it. lol
It's common nowadays. Manners, civility and respect are old and dying I'm afraid. I am a living anachronism.
Keep up the good fight mon! -
"What can I say? I'm only an American. We can't help it."
How can I say this nicely.....hmmm.
Are you from the North?
Down here, I was raised with Southern hospitality, maybe because we all had guns we had to be nice to each other. lol -
"You need not be personally insulting as you do so. It's the apex of civility to point out errors as politely as possible, keeping the claws sheathed as it were. "
I sure like this idea but, our players believe powers and tactics are more horrible than cursing and lack of civility.
You and i can continue to try to set an example for these angry people but I haven't seemed to have any effect whatsoever.
My only prob with your post is you did what we are asking them not to do. You threw in a quick insulting jab at the end of your post. That defeats the purpose of showing civility mon. -
Poor stormies. They went from one of my favorite tough targets to just another squishy.
bummer. -
lol. thor. We think too much alike.
When I saw this fix to hurricane I started listing all the other powers that can also be used to pin someone in place.
The dev reasoning for fixing hurricane should apply to all these other powers as well.
Also, I don't like to see more divergence between how powers work in pve vs pvp. This makes the newbie pvp learning process that much more difficult.
I wish they would put hurricane back the way it was.
stormies are squishy easy targets now. I liked them more as tough targets. -
[ QUOTE ]
People are fond of pointing out that PvP is anything goes, that there are no rules. No "leave us alone we're dueling", no "let's not use any inspirations", and therefore no "come out and let me collect my bounty".
How someone chooses to spend their time in the game (that they are paying for) is strictly their choice, within the confines of the EULA. If it inconveniences others, then the social aspect of the game should kick in and the community can shun them from larger participation.

I'm with you sandol. It is up to me to find you to get my bounty. If I can't i go hunt someone else....it's that easy.
And I'm kinda the only one who says anything goes in pvp anymore. Everyone else wants something nerfed.
Including standing still in a pvp zone. lol -
I fought my first post nerf hurricanes today. On my stalker.
I could always eventually kill them before.
Now they are just like any other squishy to me.
Easier actually, because they still think they are safe in that hurricane.
I used to SS joust them. It would usually take me 5 or 6 tries to get a hit.
Now, I don't miss. It's not the to-hit debuff either, I have BU and ACC's, they usu overcame the debuffs.
Pre nerf, It was difficult to get within melee range due to the repel. Now I barely notice the repel.
For the first time ever, I stood next to the stormie many times and would get combos on him! wow.
I'm sorry they did this to you. Once, ya'll were one of my favorite tough targets. Now, you're just another squishie.
I assume repel and Force bubble and the other powers that mimic hurricane will be getting this same sort of change.
I don't like it. Ya'll were much more fun as tough targets. -
You always say such nice things to me.
I think you need a hug.
This is a case of pvp'rs trying to nerf the pve'rs who are standing still waiting for a badge. lol
Heck, I try to kill those pve'rs too. It's an interesting issue the devs gave us and makes for some good comedy.
It's more fun to laugh than throw insults mon. Try it!! -
Nerf standing still in pvp!
Badge exploiters are evil!!!
uh..that was sarcasm...this thread cracks me up. -
Ah yes. I remember the days when scrappers were melee and blaster were ranged. Unfortunately, those are long ago.
Scrapper were forced into becoming blasters and blasters became blappers. Why did this happen?
Scrapper kept getting rocked by blappers in pvp. -
This is sheer genius.
This helps me understand why my heroes have so many advantages over my villainsl.
Musings:
Do you want to know my big, overarching beef with CoX PvP in its current form? (if you don't, stop reading)
CoH and CoV have two different, unequal paradigms, that meet in an unbalanced way in open PvP.
CoH focuses on synergy: Each archetype has several specific weaknesses, and one(or two) tremendous strengths. Various archetypes team, and in doing so the holes in their build are filled, and their strengths magnified. It fits well with an heroic theme - strength through cooperation. The synergy is multiplicative.
CoV's paradigm is one of self-sufficiency: each individual archetype has all the tools to solo, in a way that's much easier and intuitive relative to CoH's archetypes. (Note: This is a weaker thesis with several outliers that can present a meaningful counter-argument) When the 5 CoV archetypes team in Open PvP, their synergy is often only additive, and weaker than their CoH counterparts.
Worse, stalkers(unlike other villain ATs) have a specialization-level ideal for a PvP environment. High burst damage. High stealth(which translates to defense(all)). If a small enough team of stalkers(like Spines/) can work together to insta-kill squishies - they've found a synergy-multiplier of CoH-levels, to the detriment of the other CoV ATs. Other ATs are marginalized.
That's the root fundamental imbalance facing the devs. They're combining 2 games with 2 different 'rules' into one.
(that, and the need for extremely high burst damage in a PvP environment supporting instant-escape travel powers --- it's not necessarily imbalanced, but it creates a daunting learning-curve for new PvPers).

Whoa. If folks are willing to take 3 dam/acc and combine them into one 52 HO you are right. That is wild.
Do people really do that?
I called the ho combo thingy a secret nerf. It is the fastest way to destroy the most difficult enh to get.
Nowadays it seems a raid takes about an hour.
So they do 3 raids for 3 hours and combine it into a 52HO.
yikes.
THose folks are ccccrrrazy....
I will never combine a HO! lol -
SO's are generally slotted at +2 or better.
HO's are slotted at even levels.
SO's are more powerful in regards to raw power.
HO's give more flexibility because you have more slots available.
most folks slot SO's and use HO's for status effects n such.
Like range, mez, etc. -
I want to state my opinion of the PPP's in a succint manner.
They suck!
App's are far superior and the heroes will now Rule high level pvp.
