Issue 7 Press Release on MMORPG.com
Dammit! That is exactly the sort of imperialstic capitalism that is ruining this country! It wasn't founded on those principles brother, let me tell you!
It is a gift, from the very gods, that you are able to sit in your teensy little hovel and play the electric wonder that is this game! You should get down on your boney little knees and pray to Statesman that he continues to bless you with the opportunity to simply donate money every month to his glorious cause and that he allows you to play the game, sniveling worm-meat, in exchange - though he certainly does not have to.
You with your expectations of services paid for... YOU SICKEN ME!
Grovel insect-monster, and hope that your miserable money is found to be pleasing to the almighty Statesman, lest he cast it back in your face and you die of shame!
Edit: It weren't founded on principals either, buster! Stupid language...

Right! This is like a warm-up match before the season starts.
Everybody make sure to streach properly - we don't want any unintentional injuries, right? Drink plenty of fluids as you play too, gotta keep hydrated, (yes Pinnacle players, beer and/or spirits is acceptable fluids).
LET'S GET READY TO FUUMMMBLEEEEE!!
EEk! Rumble, I meant rumble. Drat.

There isnt going to be any sort of mass hysterics. When this game was built on hero PvE. No PvP No Villains. These people pave the way for Cryptic success and they are like Charlie Brown getting handed the rock for Halloween. These aren't the people who were crying because they couldn't get 10 levels in an hour with their uber fire tanker. Those clowns are all in PvP with that awful Stalker no risk high reward trash design . Cryptic is ticking off the people who complain once and then do something about it without hysterics. Some people will choose to play the same and do more soloing while others will find another outlet for their good guy PvE enjoyment.
I just wanna know a few things personally, not to be overly vain but....
Grandville: I suggested maybe a year and a half ago(maybe the august or september after the game was released) that we should have a vertical zone that is kinda like a cross between steel canyon, skyway and gotham city. It seems were now getting this.... So did they listen to my suggestion(Gleeee!!!!!) or was this preplanned? I mean...a good year and a half before they release it...they wouldnt have had it planned yet surely....
Honestly i dont want any new zones in Coh yet. I want the existing zones to rock so much that it makes your eyes bleed. I want multilevel story archs similar to striga/croatoa/the hollows to explain such things as:
-how DA became DA, and things of that nature.
-How eden became eden and things of that nature
-connect the hive to edens story, as there connected im sure.
Plus just decent story lines for zones such as:
-kings row
-skyway city
-Faultline
-the sewers
-brickstown
-creysfolley
-etc.
hmmm... it may be time to updaye my wishlist....
Jay Doherty: Yes, there was this one night that I was ready to go home but had to drop the browns off at the super bowl before I left for home. While on the throne it hit me. I stayed for a few more hours and that why we have the pain pads in the game.
I don't think they're on the content schedule that they'll maintain once CoV is complete. I always expected this issue to be CoVcentric - they're raising the level cap, after all. Ten new levels needs new zones, missions, and power sets for same. Just to get to anything like an equivalent status with CoH.
Once they can stop with the necessary CoV stuff, I think we'll see a better balance.
What SHOULD CoH be getting btw? I don't know if anyone could realistically expect a new CoH zone, when they have so many and CoV so few.
Newspaper mission tech? I have no idea how much work it would be to port it over, or whether it's planned for later, but would it be a satisfying addition if is possible?
With all due respect sir, I have heard many a person speak for the customer base in exactly that sort of language... and the game is still here.
It is wisest to speak for yourself and what you believe, leave the politics and fear-mongering to others who don't care to sound rational or intelligent.
I mean no mailce or insult... but you feel free to be angry and insulted if it will make you happy - doesn't bother me in the slightest.
[ QUOTE ]
I'd bet the new costume options are no doubt the shared costume peices for heroes from the villain side if you own both games and maybe some unique costume parts depending on which villain you ally with.
[/ QUOTE ]
We may get trenchcoats. Only reason I suggest that is one of the asian release signature heroes is wearing one.
This is a service-oriented business, and it's all
about keeping the player happy over the long term.
So you have to listen and pay attention. If a large
portion of your playerbase is screaming about
some change, you be wise to listen. - Raph Koster
I remember talk of a vertical zone in Beta... but I can't remember from which end it came from, (Devs or players - I think it was mentioned in the same breath as mayhem missions...).

And for the record, it's highly frustrating to see all this good news about how wonderful I7 is going to be and have the immediate reaction be, 'This isn't enough!'
Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
[/ QUOTE ]
Is that the only reaction?
[/ QUOTE ]
For those who don't like CoV, don't own CoV, or for any other reason only want to play CoH, is there another reaction to be had?
[ QUOTE ]
Was anyone explicitly complaining about lack of a new zone?
Most of us have been calling for Hazard Zone renervations instead of new zones.
[/ QUOTE ]
HERE HERE! Renovate Faultline, Boomstown and Perez Park! Make new trials and taskforces for them!
Still here, even after all this time!
I can agree with no new CoH zones.
New zones spread people out. If there are 2000 people playing and 1400 of them are on mission maps, that leaves 600 players in zones. That means 20 zones would have an average of 30 people each, but 30 zones would have an average of 20 people each. So you'll see other players significantly less often.
I think that CoH needs one more zone for 35-40, and that's it. Done. From then on renovating old zones and adding missions to them would be better.
In fact, I think there should be some updates that don't significantly change the art for any CoH zones. Have an update where Boomtown gets as much designer time as a new zone (new missions, contacts, storylines), but the art department spends their time on making new interiors.

Were you talking to me.. because this issue feels like he throwing something back at me, and its not the money I gave Crytpic....
35-45. Other than that, I'm right there with ya.
All I want is the damn CoH brokers. I've wanted them for 4 months now. At the moment I'm stuck in a rut wondering whether or not they purposely didn't add it to the feature list, or they just figure "screw it, let them keep guessing, save it for I8."
I'm a bit uneasy.
so the electric melee and armor is just going to villains
[ QUOTE ]
I stand corrected, then. I've never looked too much into CoV, so. However, I think the point still stands. I mean, content gaps in CoH has been discussed since before CoV was in existence. I just figured they'd have different priorities in order. But I guess those Mayhem missions are CoV's equivalent to CoH's outdoor missions in Issue 1, but I'm sure CoV has outdoor missions, so...
[/ QUOTE ]
<_<
Outdoor missions in CoV? Ha! I never saw one...
>_>
We have all the CoV people crying for the quantity of CoH.
Alot of people have left CoH because of a lack of quality compared to CoV.
It it really hard to say which game is really lacking behind!
There are several 'outdoor' instanced missions set in Paragon City available to CoV players.
Issue 1: Level 40-50 content including Peregrine Island and Crash Site, outdoor zones (but for 40-50 only), Icon, and new emotes. Much complaining is down about lack of pre-40 stuff.
Issue 2: Hollows and Shadow Shard, badges, capes and auras. Much complaining is done about seriously ramped up difficulty (level 5 Outcasts with full elemental powers, anyone?), as well as complaints that Hollows is too low, Shard too high (and repetitive, which is a problem that still exists).
Issue 3: Striga Island, Kheldians, Ancillary Powers. Much complaining is done about no more 5th Column, "khelds suck" (which they sort did at the time), no more 5th Column, wondering why there was only one new zone when the previous two had two new zones, and no more 5th Column.
Issue 4: Arena and new costumes. Much complaining is done about... well, almost everything: arena isn't balanced, arena is empty, no new zones, no new missions, massive "nerfs" (from a player's perspective), missing costume parts (the old skirts and suit jackets), and no more 5th Column.
Issue 5: Croatoa, four new powersets. Much complaining is done about lack of skills (but we get Universities!), lack of tanker/scrapper powersets (as well as blaster secondaries and controller primaries), more "nerfs" (again, from the player's perspective) this time on defense and resists, why is Croatoa 25-34 instead of 30-39?, and, to beat a dead horse, no more 5th Column.
Issue 6: 3 new pvp zones.... and I can't think of other CoH stuff. =0_o= Much complaining is done for, well, the same reason (sure, if you bought CoV, then you've got lots to do, but those who didn't, but still have to download that monster...).
Issue 7: Well, we'll see just what, exactly, these "upgrades" are like for CoH... but we already have much complaining.... >_>

I don't know... the devs have surprised us in the past with unannounced goodies...
For the record, I'm neither excited nor disappointed. I'm waiting for it to hit test so I know exactly what's in i7.
[ QUOTE ]
Well in fairness... Getting CoV from lvl 40-50 would take a lot of work.
New zone, new missions, new arcs, Patron powers, ect... CoH may not get a ton this issue, but that doesn't mean that will be the norm from now on.

Yes, but that's really not the point - the reaction is justified, not immature, and not overly harsh. No reason to try to stamp it out.

B) Until my heroes can crossover into the Villain PVE zones, the fact that I've purchased CoV doesn't do them a whole heck of a lot of good.
[/ QUOTE ]
The game doesn't revolve around Heroes, luv. And certaintly not yours. Just because they didn't give you something specific for some specific characters* doesn't mean that this issue isn't a very very good thing. Just from this press release alone we've gotten so much more fantastic content for CoX! Why the heck are you complaining that it's not enough?
(* They DID give you new things! New costume peices, new SG base additions, a whole new zone to play in!)
[/ QUOTE ]
Look, flame on all you want, I'm not rising to the bait anymore. If you want to view my post as a request that the entire game revolve around my specific characters, then you're more interested in convincing yourself I'm a twerp than in having a civilized discussion.
Ladied and gentlemen, I am a twerp.
Voila, you can be happy now.
I think you might want to highlight my first post here and re-read it with the blue-ed out text visible. I see a lot of good news in this press release, and my only real concern is that it didn't include an announcement of content for the PVE segment of CoH.
I've explained elsewhere why I don't think that's an unreasonable request. If you don't buy that logic, we can agree to disagree.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, in my opinion, the reason they did not tell us more about all the wonderful stuff City Of Heroes is getting is because there is none. I do not think Cryptic is so stupid that they would make a PR post that only tells us about all the wonderful stuff CoV is getting and not mention what they are adding to CoH.
It would be like you have 2 children.
You tell Sally that she is getting a Pony, a Dollhouse, A Teddybear, some new Dolls, new clothes, new shoes, new books.
You tell Bobby that he getting new clothes, new shoes, new books and you are repainting his room.
Bobby going to complain even if you are planning to give him some shiny new toys later because he can not read mind and only see all the Toys Sally is getting.
Since they should know by now that we pretty much act like little kids, if there were shiny toys for CoH, they sure would of told us about them to keep us quiet.
Another point, what would they get by not announcing a new zone or zone revamps for CoH later then doing it now?
Sorry, I am not expecting anything new for CoH.

I always wanted an Elec/Elec Tanker to go along with my friend's Elec/Elec Blaster. I guess such won't happen or maybe will with enough fuss. Electric Armor and Electric Melee should be shared with CoH!
Other than that though, I think it looks like some great additions, even though I still like playing CoH more than CoV.
