Though, to the same extent, they never promised both PvE and PvP content in every patch.
New issues bring only one new promise: new content. And it's up to the player to decide if that new content is for them or not.

Spent too much time in that game rolling on the floor laughing my backside off after slow-mo jump kicking a giant robot to death.
And I thought the old Martial Arts animations were bad.
Kinda find the psycho kid thing less than scary. Of course, I have to deal with em enough in real life to be used to them.
It's kinda depressing to see so little for heroes on this update. I'm fine with the lack of missions or zones. It's the lack of powersets or archetype updates or missions or zones. Other than a couple costume options and some graphics options I'll be turning off asap, it doesn't look like my hero will be noticing a difference from i6 to i7.
On the upside, Defense fix. :shrug:

I don't understand what you mean by 'optional content' since every activity in CoX can be considered optional. You don't have to do missions, you don't have to street hunt, you don't have to enter hazard zones, you can choose your contacts, and if you never want to see Hamidon...you never have to. Heck, you even have the option to stop paying $15 a month and you never have to deal with this again. Your argument is flawed. You want specific PvE content for CoH and call everything else optional when, really, everything about CoX is optional. If your highest level toon was 25 and this issue was full of level 50 content would you complain because it wouldn't effect you?

I think the problem isn't that Pilcrow isn't seeing what you're saying - because he is. He's not stupid and he's not typically given to blindly defending a position against all-comers just because he can't be bothered to change his mind.
I think the problem is that you're telling Pilcrow that he has no reason to be disappointed with the apparent lack of CoH PVE content in issue 7, and that's not even a rational argument. Throw in a random slippery slope (all content is optional!) and you're all set for a potential flame war.
Pilcrow's position is reasonable. There's no reason to attack him for it. He's not wrong nor is he a bad person for wanting CoH content.

It's not really the Doom And Complaints that gets me.
It's the condescension. It's the anger. It's the sense that I Am Right And You Are Wrong. It's the inability to see another person's point of view. It's the posts that insult and flame and troll and belittle other people, the nastiness that results when discussion turns to attacking.
It's the sort of thing that makes me wonder why I'm on this forum. It's the sort of thing that makes me wonder why I'm playing this game, why I'm playing any game that has me interacting with other people who can act like this towards their fellow players. It's the sort of thing that makes me wonder if I should just give up and cancel.
I keep hearing that it's worse in other MMOG forums, and CoH/V has it good. But with attacks like these, it's not good enough.

I played EQII a little, but I wasn't interested enough in it to check out the forums. That's beside the point really. You can A) try to be the voice of reason and explain that things like tone of voice and intentions don't type too well, B) only respond to posts that you feel you can contribute to, C) take a break, try another game, find out for yourself, D) take a break from the forums and only play the game, E) submit to the games section... bwa ha ha ha ha... F) something else that I can't think of right now.

This is my chief issue with the forums too. There are a lot of important things out there that you can and should get worked up over, but games you're supposed to play for fun like COH/V don't count imho.
I'd understand if we were talking about genocide or terrorism, or slavery or something godawfully wrong on so many levels, but a game?
I mean, people have gone through some horrible things in their lives, and getting upset over people's opinions on what should or shouldn't be in an issue update or what they would or wouldn't like to see in the future, etc. etc. al. seem really petty to me in contrast to the important things out there.
And most of all: aren't other people more important than trivial matters of opinion?

Yeah. Newspaper missions alone might tide me over to Issue 8. But ideally, I want some new content that is dynamic in that it can adapt and change to where it's not a one-time deal. Like a PvE version of some of the PvP zones.

so the destructive envorionments are for COV players only huh? hrmm thats fine but when are heroes going to get something like that... i wanna be able to hurl a car at some freakshow or somethin hehe. hopfully in issue 8 thats what we get.

If my bank promised that I would not have to participate in ATM/internet banking to use my account, and then they kept closing branches and shortening their hours quarter after quarter, I might consider that they aren't delivering what I had reasonably expected, even though they have not expressly broken a promise.
If the devs intent is to only offer new content primarily via PVP zones and CoV from here on, I shan't call them liars or any such thing, but I think its fair of me to want to know if that is their intent, or if at some point I can expect them to redeploy some resources back to my favorite parts of the game.
However, if an express promise is required, when people were concerned about Crotoa being 25-35 instead of 30-40, the devs acknowledged that there is a content gap in the 30s in CoH and promised some content to close that gap would come "soon".
Looks like this is 98% for Villains.

And if you accept you get to go to an instanced version of the area around the Crey's Folly/Brickstown gate. Keep Freaks from slipping through as they attack in waves.
