This release is full of good news if you are a PVPer and/or a villain, and full of some amazing potential even if you prefer heroes and PVE. We don't know the details nor if this is only PART of what is coming out.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't know about that Heroes PvE part Pil. Frm teh patch notes this looks like we're going from the orginal Super Mario Bros on the NES to Super Mario Bros on Super Mario All-Stars in the SNES. Same game with diffrent grahics, lots of eye candy. If you were bored with Super Mario Bros on the NES, you'd be bored with it on the SNES.

Just because you refuse to participate in certain aspects of the game doesn't mean the dev's should caiter to your needs. You don't PvP - but PvP zones still have PvE missions with cool outcomes and awesome temp powers. You refuse to enter them apparently.

Your loss

CoV is an expanshalone. You can play it without CoH, but lets face it...it's an expansion. You refuse to either buy or play this expansion.

Your loss

Hon, there is new content in this Issue for Heroes. And it does include a whole new (PvP) zone for them. Just because you refuse to use it is YOUR problem, not ours.

[/ QUOTE ]

Um....most of us are talking about net-content-gain here. Villains have equal access to Recluse's Victory, and thus it doesn't seem all that shiny to us heroes.

Oh yes.. its obvious that the PvP zones are what keeps the game alive! I mean just look at the huge percentage of players that PvP! Ultiamtely you add what keeps people playing, and judging by the activity of the current PvP zones, its not PvP.

He blued out all the CoV stuff.

So, essentially, here's the break down:

Day after issue 6 hits: everyone asks when I7 will hit.

A month after I6 hits: everyone complains that there's no news about I7.

Two months after I6: everyone claims that I7 will be the worst issue ever and everything will be nerfed and oh my god I'm quitting.

A month before I7 hits: news is released about what'll be in it. Everyone gets to complain about that.

Two weeks before I7 hits: I7 goes up on test. Everyone gets to complain about what's in there or what's not. Then everyone gets to complain about what gets nerfed or what gets buffed. Then everyone gets to threaten to quit.

The Day I7 Hits: Everyone complains about the servers being down or I7 not being ready to hit live or taking too long to go live.

Day after I7 hits: Everyone starts asking about I8.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yep. Fun, ain't it?

Arc Salvo: Okay hold one sec guys, we can't just rush in blindly vs these Nemesis, they've got these ranged aoe's tha-
Teammate1(charging in): Shut up, Arc Salvo, you lame*$% Viewtiful Joe wannabe! What do you know?!
Teammate2(also charging): yeah, ST#& arc salvo u PWR RANGR U!
Arc Salvo: *sigh*

I gotta say, I'm totally amazed. News of Issue 7 comes and it includes new powersets, new zones, 10 more levels for villians, and NO NERFS! Yet people find things to complain about....

I'm amazed.

Notice it says SOME information, not all, or most, but some.

Before we (players that are almost exclusively coh players ) get up in arms about not much added to coh, we should wait for the rest of the information to be released.

[/ QUOTE ]

For one thing, the defense changes (which Statesman said would be coming in I7) aren't listed. (Nor should they be for something like this, I think.) Until someone pointed it out to me, I completely forgot about it.

Also, New Costume Options are mentioned. Not sure if they mean the CoV costumes for those who play both CoV and CoH, or brand new ones regardless.

Well it was the addition of PvP zones that brought quite a handful of people I know back to the game...

Lets all do some simple math. Heroes have:

Atlas Park
Galaxy City..........................Kings Row
Skyway City.........................Steel Canyon
Perez Park............................The Hollows
Faultine.................................Boomtown
Independance Port.................Terra Volta
Talos Island...........................Dark Astoria
Brickstown.............................Creys Folly
Rikti Crash site......................Croatoa
Striga Isle.............................Founders Falls
Eden.....................................The Hive
Peregrine Island....................FireBase Zulu
The Chantry..........................The Cascades
The Storm Palace...................The Sewers
The Abandoned Sewer Network

And Villians have:

Mercy Island
Port Oaks
Cap Au Diable
Sharkshead
Nerva
St. Martial

Now, to crunch the numbers:

28 > 7

And you're all upset that Heroes don't get a new zone? Whaaat?

[/ QUOTE ]

Ah, but CoV's zones are much more fleshed out. Take out Hazard Zones in CoH, since there's barely any reason to use them, and the lists are much more comparable. CoV did away with Hazard Zones, but incorporated all the good features (big groups of spawns, monsters, etc.) into their city zones.

I am in agreement with you though. The last thing CoH needs is another zone. What we need more is revamping of all zones to bring them up to par. Zones like Boomtown and Eden are largely unused as, like I said above, there's no reason to go there. Rather than giving us yet another zone to play in, why not use what we already have and make it better? They could even take some of these unused zones to turn into PvP zones if they wished.

For CoV, they could even take some of the Paragon City zones and turn them into CoV ones. For example, make a villain only version of Kings Row. The zone has the normal NPC villains in it, as well as NPC costumed heroes and police officers. Within the zone, there would be the villain contacts for them to use. It'd be the same zone, but from a different perspective with no PvP required.

A) Don't make assumptions about how I play the game. I don't let a PVP rep I could care less about keep me away from the PVE content in the PVP zones.

B) Until my heroes can crossover into the Villain PVE zones, the fact that I've purchased CoV doesn't do them a whole heck of a lot of good.

C) Those who take the devs at their word that PVP and CoV are OPTIONAL are not unreasonable to expect that the devs would include some new content in each issue that doesn't require playing CoV or risking PVP.

But thanks for your compassionate response. I'm sure you have a great future in customer relations.

That's because they don't put nerfs in press releases, unless they are extremely popular ones XD

I really doubt nerfs would be included in the press release.

Mantid, neither you nor Shakhra are going to win this debate if you guys keep using opinions as absolute truths.

Some people like PvP. Yes, some people even bought CoV specifically FOR PvP.

Some people don't like PvE. They play CoH/V and avoid PvP zones and PvP combat.

Neither side is right. Neither side is wrong. Both sides do deserve the attention, though, since everyone's 15 dollars is as good as everyone else's. There's some of us who don't even PvP exclusively that are waiting for Recluse's Victory just to get PvP zone badges. Surely your desires are no better nor worse than mine. And neither of ours invalidates the others.

So your argument is that since the new PvP zone includes villians it's not good enough for you and should be CoH only? When CoH already has 28 zones? What?

I'm with Cantatus on this one. Sure COH has more zones, but these zones tend to feel empty/incomplete and the hazard zones even moreso. Honestly, the Hazard Zones are almot like non-zones in comparison to the newer zones out there like Striga/Croatoa/anything in COV.

Bascially they're just places where huge spawns of mobs stand around doing nothing, or occaisionally fighting each other.

BOOO-ring!

No talking, no creative animations, no flavor, no nothing... except for the Rikti Crash Site, which is almost up to the "newfangled zone" par, but not quite.

I also agree that COH wouldn't need new zones if they just revamped the old ones.

No, the argument is that this is another issue without PvE content.

Of course, this is the 7th issue. Only issue 4 and 6 before it didn't feature PvE content. 4 issues didn't feature PvP content of any sort.

It's essentially the same argument PvP players had with all the PvE-centric issues.

What about the villain zones feels "more complete" though?

I mean, other than it's less spacious looking because everything is broken or filled with goldbrickers.

Guys, can we wait until we know definatively what's in i7 before we complain, like once it's on test?

*smacks forehead*

Sorry about that, temporary lucidity or insanity, take your pick... carry on.

The game doesn't revolve around Heroes, luv. And certaintly not yours. Just because they didn't give you something specific for some specific characters* doesn't mean that this issue isn't a very very good thing. Just from this press release alone we've gotten so much more fantastic content for CoX! Why the heck are you complaining that it's not enough?

(* They DID give you new things! New costume peices, new SG base additions, a whole new zone to play in!)

Welcome to a new issue about to be released! I wouldn't return to the forums until at least two weeks after I7 hits live.
