Pilcrow's position is reasonable. There's no reason to attack him for it. He's not wrong nor is he a bad person for wanting CoH content.

[/ QUOTE ]

Thanks, Kali.

I hadn't responded directly to that post because Tazer asked about the same question and I had already answered it.

Reasonable people can agree to disagree over whether or not I7 SHOULD have PVE content for CoH. My reasons for believing it should are well documented in the thread. If someone disagrees with them, that's no skin of my nose.

But let's not move beyond that into ridiculing people for having different opinions than our own. That's simply a non-constructive way to boost one's e-Peen.

To the extent that I was guilty of that, I apologize.

Shak's e-peen puts mine to shame.

Damn skippy.

And for the record, it's highly frustrating to see all this good news about how wonderful I7 is going to be and have the immediate reaction be, 'This isn't enough!'

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

But it's the same thing for every update/event in CoH/CoV history, though.

You can please some of the people some of the time, but not all the of the people all of the time.

It's been that way for 6 issues now, but for the record, Pilcrow doesn't have a history of flying off the handle. He's been so level headed, especially for the whole 'ED' thing, I pm'ed States letting him know that whatever Pilcrow said counts twice, because I agree. That way, I don't have to post about it.

Anyway, with this many people interested, the odds that everyone will be happy are astronomical... at least.

I don't know if the response is 'There isn't enough'. I think the response is 'Where's the balance?' There's a fair amount of content in Issue 7 as it's shown, however a LOT of it is geared to just Villains. If it was divvied up between Heroes and Villains I wouldn't mind.

The biggest example I have is that these new kinds of missions for Villains. As far as I know, they've never made previous mention of that kind of mission. However, they've been making note of CoH's content gaps for months now. Rather than taking care of what they've already pointed out, they add something completely (as far as I know) unannounced in an issue that's main focus was -already- new content for Villains.

That's my complaint.

Is that the only reaction?

I'm looking forward to the new powersets and the addition of 41-50 content for CoV. I'm sure quite a few people are. I really want to check out Lord Recluse's Victory. However, for people who don't have CoV, there's really very little content for them in the patch - new costume parts and Lord Recluse's Victory. If you're not into PvP, that limits it further. The new base options are nice, but are not available if you don't have CoV.

FWIW, the mayhem missions have been discussed since before CoV was in stores.

All I want for CoH is villain costumes and newspaper missions. They just get those in, I'll be fine....

I reeeealllllllllllly hope they got brokers in. >_<

[/ QUOTE ]

How the heck would brokers fit into CoH?

[/ QUOTE ]
Like the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. fits into Captain America's or the Avengers' narrative, or like Oracle fits into various DC titles.

Brokers are just contacts that are a little more dynamic.

You know, I've complained before. Sometimes, I've complained ALOT. When the nerf tally went on longer than the features list and tanks got kicked repeatedly in the googilies: I complained. Basically, when things came that were not well thought out, did nothing but hurt gameplay and (especially) were unblinkingly defended by the First Church of Cryptic anyway.

What's described here IS NOT THAT.

This is GREAT. First we get the kind of defense changes we've needed forever. THEN we (knock on wood), get the villainy put into City of Villains, as we've needed since that game launched. Third, costume pieces shared between games, which rights a great wrong.

New powersets and zones are GREAT, but just those three changes would be enough for me to check I7 off as a winner. If they're executed well, the Kushan is gonna be a happy camper.

Wait, brutes with havok punch? *swoons*

Break my joy, I break yo' face.

I stand corrected, then. I've never looked too much into CoV, so. However, I think the point still stands. I mean, content gaps in CoH has been discussed since before CoV was in existence. I just figured they'd have different priorities in order. But I guess those Mayhem missions are CoV's equivalent to CoH's outdoor missions in Issue 1, but I'm sure CoV has outdoor missions, so...

Straightforward and violent, but the logic is sound.

A lot of what went into CoV from development was learned from CoH. After all the time that went into building CoV, those upgrades won't be ready for CoH right away. Give them time.

The reason behind why people are upset, aside from some individuals, is simple.

Issue 7 is touted as a City of Heroes and City of Villains issue, one that will increase both of them.

Yet the initial release of information relating to what it will actually have demonstrates that it is almost entirely dedicated toward City of Villains. All Heroes will get is what they should have gotten in Issue 6(Equal graphics and costumes).

Now, of course, there is a good chance that we will not be seeing everything listed here and now as toward what we will actually get. For all we know Shields will be put in, or Electric Tanks will be possible(Which I am hoping to see due to Voltaic Tanks in the game itself).

Simply put, the dedicated players of City of Heroes were hoping to actually get more than a cosmetic adjustment.

Should they get more? Well, bug fixes would be nice. A decrease in LOST CONNECTION TO MAPSERVER would also be wonderful.

Seeing Villains get nearly everything? A little disappointing.

I can see your point, believe me I do. However, it's hard for me to swallow. I have patience, but my issue is that it's not like CoV is this entirely new thing from a technological standpoint. The engine is the same, it'd appear. Any graphical updates seem to be coming to CoH come Issue 7.

I think the core of my frustration is that I was under the assumption that this would be an issue for both CoH and CoV. It seems like CoH is getting table scraps at best this go-round. I don't think either side should have to feel that way.

I agree Halorin, my I7 disappointment comes from the same area.

I also get the added disapointment in the fact that i don't own cov. So there really isn't much for me to look forward to in I7.

But o well, coh is great fun anyway, plus i still have my hope that this is not the full preview of I7, and That there will be more hero stuff coming in I7.

Well a hero can dream can't he.

Guys, can we wait until we know definatively what's in i7 before we complain, like once it's on test?

*smacks forehead*

Sorry about that, temporary lucidity or insanity, take your pick... carry on.

Yes please.

Heck no. This is entertaining.

You may continue folks!

Wow, you must really have a low tolerance for complaints. The nerfing hasn't even been announced yet!

Right! This is like a warm-up match before the season starts.

Everybody make sure to streach properly - we don't want any unintentional injuries, right? Drink plenty of fluids as you play too, gotta keep hydrated, (yes Pinnacle players, beer and/or spirits is acceptable fluids).

LET'S GET READY TO FUUMMMBLEEEEE!!

EEk! Rumble, I meant rumble. Drat.

Just a point of clarification, the proper phrasing of you last line should be,

"Don't look a $14.99/month horse in the mouth."

Electric melee for brutes is because... well, as Positron said, they were almost done with the set, but it wasn't ready for CoV's release. If it wasi ntended for CoV's release, how would the heroes get it? Answer - they wouldn't. At least not immidiately.

Still, you can hope.
