Quick memory check: Jenkins in the Zig mission.

When I did the "break villains out of the Zig" mission on my Mastermind (after doing it on my Brute a long time ago), I realized that Jenkins was apparently a Wolf Spider Huntsman.

Has he always been a Huntsman? I don't really remember this the first time round, largely because Jenkins was, well, Jenkins, and he rushed in and aggroed and died within two minutes.

I was wondering how the heck Jenkins made Huntsman, and then he Web Grenaded the prison doors and proved that some things never change.

First, Jenkins never even got to fight in any of my Zig missions. I hosed the longbow and guards before he could even get aggro.

Secondly, Jenkins is a complete moron as we all know he blabbed our names to the Longbow operatives without even being properly interrogated.

Third, Arachnos is not exactly known for hiring the intellectual elite into their ranks.

Fourth, It could be another person named Jenkins. Jenkins is not that rare of a last name and Arachnos has a lot of people working for them.

It's the same Jenkins, he even reconizes you from the last Breakout mission. Appearantly you aiding him in detonating the bomb has moved him up in Arachnos. I love that little touch, it's so nice to see someone used again. I wish we had more stuff like that. Like some low level gang leader you beat up coming back as a member of the Council or something like that.

For those that played WoW you know who Leeroy Jenkins is. Guess who he works for. yep Arachnos. 2nd the guy is an idiot, about as much an idiot as that woman whos name escapes me that works in Atlas MAGI that lost every single magic item to the CoT, and the hero had to go retrieve it. Sometimes just 2 missions later.

For those that don't know Leeroy Jenkins, well do a search on WoW Leeroy and you will find a nice little movie about idiots in MMO games.

b-b-b-but, he was a dwarf in WoW! How did he turn into a human in CoV? Did he do a server change? How can I get my nekked Night Elf chick into CoV? How about my supercool orc's sword over to my fire/fire brute?

Actually when CoH came out I had a chick night elf, htough looked more from EQ than WOW ears just weren't long enough. Haven't played heros lately and saw something about the pointy ears gone, so not sure if you can still do it on the hero side.

It was hilarious to see this guy again, though he did nearly get me killed by agroing all three bosses standing at the prisoners cells! He died for me, but I just thought it was cool to see him again. It would be really awesome to see the prisoners you break out again later in game, though, maybe even fight against them!

Acctualy, he isn't the famous Leeroy Jenkins. He's acctualy just Jenkins and was spawned from a thread where someone wished you could work your way up the Crimal ladder by working for each gang and it turned into a thread of jokes where a criminal, a first called you and was later named Jenkins. He worked for every gang and inevitably quit them or gave his two weak notice. In a patch the Devs renamed the Wolf Spider at the end of Breakout Jenkins as a response to that thread, alot like the Kill Skuls badge.

Seriously? It's always been said to have been a Leeroy Jenkins reference... This must've been early beta...

He certainly acts like Leeroy Jenkins. T.T

Actually, I created Jenkins before that thread started (I always assumed that the Jenkins in that thread was referring to the one in the tutorial mission).

Well, I shouldn't say "I created"... he was definitely inspired by a certain internet movie.

There is a Freak Boss Furious B that turns up in a couple of different missions in differing circumstances.

Inside story arcs it is more common. There is another Freak called Ohms-(something) who you run across a couple of times in one of the Sharkhead story arcs and you see some of the named Family personalities twice in the Port Oakes Family story arc.

But I agree it does give a nice feeling of connection when you run across someone you have encountered before, not just another blah Boss.

Yeah, I want my homeboy Ohmtown back.

The fact that Jenkins comes back at a higher rank and Flower Knight doesn't suggests either two possibilities.

Freedom Corps is a lot more strigent on handing out promotions.

Or...

Jenkins is actually more competent than Flower Knight.

Considering that Jenkins actually did help me in both missions then I suggest the second possibility.

From what I've read, the Leroy Jenkins movie was setup. It wasn't real. It was all planned and worked out by the very people in the movie. They did a great job IMO on that movie! Certainly deserves all the publicity its recieved.

Yes he's refering to Leeroy Jenkins. ME and a couple of friends found a couple Leeroy movies. He's a greifer who likes to join guilds (SGs) them burn them and loot the corpses/mission gear. Rinse, repeat, etc. etc. Best griefer ever IMHO.

FYI:
There is also a Jenkins character who makes an appearance in the game ‘Halo’.
The Master Chief finds Jenkins’ helmet, and plays back the recording on the helmet-cam.
We see the final moments of Jenkins and his squad as they are attacked by aliens.
Jenkins panics like a CoH S.W.A.T. officer, starts to run away, and dies.

I would like to see more of that. The only recurring character I've noticed has been the Superfreak, who shows up at least two more times after his story arc.

Also, I'm beginning to suspect that they'll make just anybody a Huntsman. I'm guessing the Wolf Spiders just have a high turnover rate, and a Huntsman is just anybody who manages to survive long enough to get a promotion.

He isn't a griefer. The movie was well planned out and all planned, they even had a script. If you see another griefer that does that, they are just stealing his name.

Anyone who has ever played on an MMO team should recognize that video as being staged right away. That numbercrunching sequence should have been a big enough clue.

Posted

I don't know if I should feel happy that it was staged and I thought something was wrong with it (that number crunch was way to... off and the way Leroy just comes back... felt odd), or that I should feel sad that it was staged and I wanted so much to believe it was real
