Can't get past the splash screen on the test server. The normal game runs fine. Fresh Vista 64 install (as in 3 days old), only the latest video/audio drivers for BFG 9800GTX OC video card, 3.2Ghz Core 2 Duo CPU, 4gb DDR2 800mhz RAM, 10k RPM Raptor HDD.
Anything special I should know about? I've been on the test server before (it's been a while) but now it just dies at the splash screen, even in safe mode. No error code, just says that COH crashed out and must close would I describe what I was doing. Like I said, normal game runs fine. -
Quote:Your forum avatar is epic sir.The revamped raid is better in some ways of course, the number cap certainly did cut down on epic lag, for example.
It's also a tad less fun to a lot of the old raiding groups, but you can't please everyone, as you're acutely aware.
PS, how are those new alternate War Mace animations coming? ;] -
Dear Dr. Aeon.
I was hoping in the future we might be able to have access to the base models for enemy groups without any powers. I realize there might be some oddities with this such as well, I can't think of any specifics but weapons where they shouldn't be and more I'm sure, but what if I want a zombie and I don't want them to have guns but I like the banished pantheon models. Why can't I give them dark/dark powers and have them just not draw the guns. Or how about if I want a L50 Shivan with custom Rad powers or a Rularuu Brute for a level 1-10 mission arc where they are severely weakened and I give them simple powers.
I think if we could just have unfettered access to the models and the ability to add any power to any model that would alleviate a lot of the requests of people wanting x mob available in a wider variety of levels.
Also, I would like to be able to give them a wider variety of ranged attacks. I have a villain mission where they take on a Police Convention and all the cops with war maces (for billy club) have throwing knives. Since when do cops use throwing knives?! I would like the ability to be able to give them shotguns instead. Perhaps make melee powerset enemies in MA have a 3rd (and required option) for ranged weapon instead of cramming it into the melee set. The author could select shuriken or knives or shotgun or hatchet or flame thrower or dynamite or grenade or any one of maybe 10 or so ranged powers that would better fit the character concept.
How about being able to give NPCs pool powers? You do it for regular NPCs, Nemesis gets Vengeance, Tsoo get teleport etc. We would like to be able to do the same.
Oh, and what the hell are reflections powers and how do they affect the NPC and player respectively?
Thanks for listening. -
If they raise the flight speed then they have to raise the SS and SJ speed too, then you're right back where you are now and the power proliferation goes ape-poo. The speeds are fine as they are now.

Thx again Fulmens, you helped me immensely. Now I can finally turn the lights on in my base!

Quote:FYI the Desert Eagle is already in-game in the Mastermind set for Thugs. My 1st choice would be a Desert Eagle. It's fairly iconic and looks good. Another good choice could be the P08 Parabellum. The .44 Magnum could fit well for the Dirty Harry fans.
For alternates, you may want to look at some SMGs, like the HK MP5, Scorpion SA Vz 61 or Mini Uzi (they also have an Uzi Pistol with that distinctive Uzi look). Granted they are not Pistols, but have distinct looks and would look good in both single shot animations as well as the cone attacks. -
There are at least 3 different versions of the Colt 1911 in the original list which I cannot copy or quote properly, I don't know why.
I can see different color skins, black, blue, gold & silver for each pistol maybe but lets not have multiple versions of the exact same pistol or even just one with and one w/o engraving. I would much rather see genuinely different guns rather than 4 of the same gun, 1 plain and 3 with different etchings. -
Quote:I am @cthulhufan in-game and might I say WOOT!820 million left in the program. (Matched 100M for Johnny Velocity and the Justiciars SG, Guardian.)
So I've got ... 200 M for Bashful Banshee, 100 M for Catwhoorg, 100M for Cthulhufan, and 100M for Destrukt in the queue. Should be 320 M left. I'm @Boltcutter in game - send me a tell or a PM and we'll try to set up times and places. (next few days are kinda busy for me.)
Phantom Ranger: We set up a time, server, and side to meet. We meet at the SG or VG registrar. I look up your SG's prestige, give you the money, you donate twice that amount, then I check that it went through.
( For example, the Justiciars was just over 1 million prestige. I gave Johnny Velocity 100M, he donated 200M which turned into 400K prestige. Actually, he donated a bit more than that so got 520K prestige. )
Cthulhufan: I also do currency exchange := - 750 million would get you 600 million in this case, and I take care of server and side switching. (It's less profit than it looks like, because I usually have to move it through Wents once or twice and that takes 10%.) Are you @Cthulhufan in game? -
I think what he's trying to show is variations of the existing 1 hand weapons that could be relatively easily made into 2 handers. Simply extending the handles on a couple of the weapons like the flamberge or the scimitar would make it 2 handed. Although the blade might seem a little puny. Scale em up to match the legacy broadsword and you'd have vicious 2 hand weapons though.

I would love to get 100m matched blue side on Virtue if possible, my base is sorely in need of it. I wish I could just get my 3/4 billion inf from red side Freedom transferred to blue side Virtue somehow too. :/

Well, I don't lag in Grandville or Arachnos or Mu maps. However, I do crash on occasion when accessing the Black Market or Wentworth's. My CoX usage is over 1.7gb when this happens and it's the attempts to sort all the data when the market opens.
This also happens after about an hour of base editing. No matter what, I cannot clear what I have done in the base, even if I exit the editor and the base. I can watch the memory just continue and continue to climb till the game crashes or I restart the client.
/reloadgfx is great for clearing initial zone-in lag if I enter a new zone and find I have a little lag such as Cimerora or something, clears it right up but doesn't free up any actual system RAM.
**My solution to the Market Crash (pun intended) is to have the system not perform any type of search automatically when it opens but wait till the first item in the left column is selected before performing any type of search. -
Quote:Hey Jack, I figured out what most of the items you used to create this are but I can't figure out what is the trim item around the top, the bit with what looks like a wire piece and a small, flat, gray top.

Quote:Yeah, I had to get a GM to clear a mission for me Thursday also. Um, the title was... I can't remember the title... The mission however was given by Ginger Yates and should be on file with you by GM_Kenie, he's the one who took care of it for me.Hey guys,
Can I get any specific missions? Were they radio missions?
So not a radio mission, normal stuff is affected. Radio missions might well be affected but I cannot confirm. -
Quote:Correct, first I placed a cubicle then attached a wall torch to it (the cubicle walls act like real walls). Then I removed the cubicle. The wall torch's arms can be used to angle other wall items off of it if placed just so. I actually had to place several wall torches together to get the angle just right and that took some doing but in the end it worked out. It's a wall item - you can rotate them using torches or the round lights (try to place the wall item on the light - as you move the mouse around, the item will pivot). Using cubicles or banners to move them out from the wall, you can hang wall items in lots of ways.

I would like to amend my choices and add the Disco ball and colored ceiling beam lights from Pocket D.
I'm just sayin'.
Just as a side note, to folks who don't like thick walls, I have created 1/2 or less thickness walls using back to back wall cabinets via the cubicle method. This cabinet method allows for a variety of wall textures, steel, concrete, rustic and wood. You can also make very thin walls in light and dark wood grain from merging facing tall light bookshelves or short dark bookcases. Both are more tedious and costly than desks but give a much better effect. -
He may be referring to the prices you can buy them at at the invention tables. Those are universally set across the board (and very expensive) to the best of my knowledge. So there is no alternate or better price. I only recommend buying there if there are none for sale at WW or the BM and you are desperate.
That said, as long as you are getting them for less from another player at the WW or BM, then you're getting a deal.
As a previous poster said, though, the WW/BM prices are player set. You either outbid the others or leave your lower bid up a few days and see if anyone bites. -
Just saw this too, am having a devil of a time making custom colors stick on tornado, freezing rain and gale in storm summoning too. It will take red/red but not blue/white, seems like it only applies colors if both match. Not sure why.

Quote:This.What would they be?
1: Large Glass Panel
2: Small Glass Panel
3: 1/8th width, but in half and full height wall sections in a few different styles.
Plus maybe a couple double sided floor plates in different styles, but I'd live with just these 3. Some of the other ideas in this thread are great too!
I can think of about 15 items they could add to the base editor that would just make bases exponentially better and more fun to build. -
Quote:I get the same issue as the person you are quoting from time to time. I have 8gb ddr2 on vista 64 so it's not a lack of RAM per se. What I do know is CoX is probably still bound by 32 bit code which only allows it to address 2gb of RAM max. I notice when I crash out at the BM or WW that I'm at or close to the 2gb (1.7gb+) mark in the task manager. It's my surmisation that CoX is maxing itself out. Base editor also has a memory leak, I can usually get an hour in the editor before the system reaches 2gb of system ram usage then crashes. This probably means you're short on available main system memory (RAM). Opening the market window unfortunately tries to list everything at first, and that can take a fair amount of memory; if you don't have enough, the OS will try and swap less-used things off to the far slower hard drive.
If your computer has the wrong combination of little main memory available, insufficient swap space available, slow hard drive, or a few other factors, you can end up with a "death swap", where it spends an increasing amount of time trying to juggle what it's doing rather than actually doing any of it. See the wiki on thrashing for some more info.
It is almost certain that adding more main memory (RAM) will improve the situation, quite possibly drastically. You can also get some improvement by running fewer things in the background when you're playing CoH. Using a somewhat oversized fixed-size page file may help a little.
Those of you who are experiencing this problem can post a thread of your own on the Technical Issues & Bugs area of the forums if you need help resolving it, or at least mitigating it. Starting by posting a quick summary of what's going wrong, your basic computer specs, and a CoH Helper log.
If they set the BM/WW to not auto search every item in its database when it opens this issue would go away.
{edit} Just as an FYI, I know my old system is whats listed below in my sig, but I've got a raptor 10k drive, less than 20 processes running other than CoX and a 4gb page file. So it's not for a lack of speed or available memory/ram or page file that causes this issue at the BM/WW -
Quote:Yeah, Im getting this as well.I found what looks like a fairly serious animation bug. You know how you get a different knockback animation while flying that has you spin in the air but not drop back to the ground? That is no longer playing when I'm near the ground. Instead, while I'm hovering at ground level, I get knocked flat on my back as though I were standing on the ground.
Please tell me this is a bug. If I'm still not "on the ground" enough for me to use ground-only powers (like Burn) I shouldn't be getting knocked down as though I were standing on the ground, right? -
People being stuck inside the AE holo-field area should be on the known issues list too. Only way to get out is to type/stuck as you cannot even be recalled out.
