Do you experience the stalker temptations?

I find that as I level more and more it gets harder not to AS those lone bosses you see outside on your way to your missions. I guess this would be a kin to the whole brutes got to smash everything in site thing. I think 1 shotting a boss outside of a mission is like greatest rush to me. The sad part about it is I know that if I miss this hit and try to scrap I know I am good as dead but yet I still AS anyways.

I have a hoot doing that as I travel from and to missions... always looking around for anything up to a red boss that I can drop along the way. Sometimes if I see something in a spawn, I'll drop it, then run like crazy. It's great freebie XP.
And sometimes I can "clean" up a fight between mobs where both are damaged. I don't get as much XP, but they fall quick and I don't take much damage, so it's still freebie XP to me.
It's probably the funnest part about being a Stalker (short of AS'ing the mission boss, so he never even gets to take a swing at me).

I do this all the time. If I miss, I hightail it out of there. What can I say? I'm an opportunist.
Same. AS misses I haul out if I can't think I'll stand a chance
This space is intentionally left blank.
*shrug* I'll do it even if the boss isn't alone. Just one or two shot the boss, then run like hell to your mission. You take minor damage but it heals back up.
Oddly enough, this is also my strategy in PvP.

Definately.
As soon as I got my AS and especially now with build up, I'll take anything that just standing around down on my way.
Actually, sometimes I feel kind of bad about it because I just whacked a Mob guy beating some "protection" money out of a civilian and I think, "Hey, this guy wasn't in my way. Why'd I go and take him out?" It's a lot harder for me to justify taking out random guys on the street (that aren't Longbow, Cops, or Snakes) because they're just villains like me trying to make it in the world. Not like in CoH where everyone you can attack is an enemy that is harming some innocent.

Maybe I'm just too good spirited to be a villain
I guess I shouldn't worry too much, since when I'm actually assassinating someone I feel fine, but when I see my victim's vistim running off I feel a pang of guilt. Maybe it had more to do with me not being able to prevent the "witness" from getting away than anything else.
I play with my wife and we are both stalkers, so this is even more fun/rewarding, because if there is an lt or minions around, it doesn't deter us from hitting that boss.

It's only ganking if it's in PvP. :P
And even in PvP, it's perfectly acceptable unless someone wants to find in the EULA or the RoC where it's illegal.
As long as I'm still under lvl 10, I'll AS anything!

Sigh. How'd I not see that one coming?
Heck, yeah.
And I often say, out loud, as I stand over the corpse with a clawed hand extended "Because I can."
Absolutely!
My toon is a "contract assassin" -- Freelancing the loners in the zone is
the way I keep my skills tuned up for those high-profile missions The
Radio gives me
Actually, I also like what another poster stated... The luxury of standing
alone in the Isles, unguarded, uncaring, is supreme arrogance
associated with either A> Extreme Power B> Extreme Foolishness...
I choose to test both cases: Fools suffer my blade... Those with true
power deserve my respect -- from a distance, while I'm healing my
wounds... until next time...

PS> This leads to the next question: Is there any Stalker who *doesn't*
take the newspaper missions where any old "Joe Toughguy" calls you
out???

In-between missions? I typically take about .5 hour per session to just solo street hunt because it's so fun as a stalker.
I also like to TP mobs on to the side of tall building and watch them fall. I don't think this does any damage, but it just goes with my nature.

Oh it does damage if you're high enough. Can't kill them with it but yes, damage is done.
I'm Level 14...and haven't done a mission since Breakout
I am going to just solo hunt my way to 40 with this guy cuz it's so fun. In Beta, I was doing this all the way until Level 19 (my highest since I wasn't focusing on one guy), so I've got spots set up until 24 at least. Anyone who finds a place where there's a large conglomeration of solo villains at higher levels than that, let me know

Don't take it personally if you think I was mean to you. I'm an ******* to everyone.
It's a penguin thing. Pingu FTW.
I just want the option to AS the damn civies who go around talking smack about you. Or is that villains. I caught a bit of speech the other day in my chat window, along the lines of
"Do you smell that? It stinks!"
"Yeah, i think it was Razorbug!"
GRRRRRRR
Based on only having 79 posts, I'm guessing you're only in CoV (could be totally wrong, so no offense intended). Trust me, the civilians in Peregrine Island around Ghost Falcon (the ONLY Enhancement Salesman in the zone for Level 40-50 Enhancements) will make you FAR angrier...

Interesting. I just started a stalker, and I'm using this to level my toon while getting maximum infamy. I just run around the zone killing lieutenants (I'm only 5, cut me some slack<g>, and then run away from the minions.
The exp:inf ratio is so much better for non-minions.
Inside missions, I do the minimum amount I need to finish the job. That may still be kill-all, but when it's not I just clean the room or whatever.
I find all of this helps me adopt a different mindset with this toon, which I think will be important later.

LOL this thread is so true I hit warburg for the first time with my 30ish stalker and as soon as I found one of those purp robots I was like man I go to get me one of those. Who cares about debt I just have to try. But I might be a bit on the slow side because I AS'ed deathsurge and ghost of the scrapyard. Then the whole thought process of "man he is only 6 levels above me how hard can the underboss be".
"if you ever get offered a burger from a clown and its not ronald mcdonald dont eat it, I learnt that the hard way"

If it is red and flashing that means finish him - NOW!

That's how I see it. If I am red or low yellow, then I am already dead if I run. I might as well stand my ground and hurt them a little more so they're easier to take down after I pop an awaken. I may just get lucky and not have to use that awaken.
