Very cool indeed Posi...

Nice job of thinking about both sides...

One thought?

So do the cameras have speakers? If they can talk on the "local" channel, we could have the fun of post-KO verbal quips, with the ever popular option...

KO'd-Hero mocks his assailant, "oh I could have done that with more *style*..."
"Oh shut UP!" the victor mutters- *Zap*
(mocking person see's a flash of light in first person, followed by static)
*crash,boom of the camera*

Neato... =)

Aw, they're destroyable? Why not give us an option to make an invisible (thus non-distracting) version that can't be targetted, and just disable chat while in that mode?

[/ QUOTE ]

What a smart person - like me ;P - would do:

1. Activate 'Spy-Cam.'

2. Activate Invisibility. <Chat now disabled.>

3. Zoom around to see where enemy is.

4. Deactivate Invisibility.

5. Tell team where the enemy is!

Duh! ;P

I do what I can, but alas, I am but one man. Unfortunately, I'm still waiting for them to send me a stripper... They do that, right? I thought I read that on these forums

Sooooo.... if there's 300 spectators observing a match, will there be 300 camera drones buzzing around everywhere? Could be annoying. Hopefully they aren't tab-targetable, or a herd of them could cause major problems. Even if they aren't tab-targetable they could cause major problems just by getting in the way.

Don't get me wrong, I like the idea, I'm just playing devil's advocate.

The idea is cool for fallen teammates, just seems like it could cause problems if spectators are drones too.

Also, how will you enter a match as an observer? I'm assuming there could be hundreds of instanced matches going on at once. Are they viewable by invitation only? Will there be a "current matches" sign to view? Random?

I'm not sure if it's possible for people not directly engaged in the match to become Observers. I certainly didn't get that impression from the original post.

Can we watch heroes battle it out in the arena, a sort of public spectacle if you will? I'd love to just log in and watch people duke it out so to speak.

(NOTE: Any or all of the following information may change by the time this makes it to Training Room or the Live servers).

Yes... to an extent.

[/ QUOTE ]

Still here, even after all this time!

Observer Mode is cool. You look like a floating camera and can move around the arena map, watching the action.

I sense a second career as a sports commentator approaching!

"You will be able to view the events in "Observer Mode", either when they are running, or if you are defeated and players on your side are still running around."

I read it as we can watch while the events are running....

Anyway..how many cookies does it take to get on the private test server?

"To an extent" is what makes me think. The quote doesn't say: "Can players who aren't in a battle team watch the battle?" it says " Can we watch heroes battle it out in the arena?". "To an extent" could mean yes, it's possible to watch heroes battle it out, but only if you're on the team.

That's just the impression I got.

See, I read that as meaning you can become an Observer even if you haven't been defeated - to me, that doesn't say you can watch if you aren't involved in the battle.

Wow... didn't think this would happen (observer)... SO GLAD I'm wrong!!!

I see your point. It would be nice to get a clarification on this.

In a way.

Scrapper one: Hey team, I'm going to switch to observer mode.
*scrapper one jumps into middle of battle field*
Scrapper one: HEY I'm Over Here Ya Sappers!
*Scrapper one has been defeated*
Go to hospital/ Go to observer mode?

Thats why we made these Observer cameras targetable and easily destroyable. This is a very cool feature that adds another dimension to gameplay.

And defeating 1000 of them gives me the Black Eye badge! W00t!! <g>

No, the Sean Penn badge. (Substitute whoever else is breaking cameras these days)

Very cool. I want to watch my riteous teammates enact painful vengeance upon my unworthy foes for their cowardly underhanded killing of my virtuous self.

[/ QUOTE ]
No that's faith in yourself right there...

This is most exceptionally cool. I envision hide-and-seek style matches with a mix of fighters and spycams on each team, so that the observers can take a real role in the match as spotters. Will fighting characters be able to assist on their teams' cams to target the foe the observer is watching?

It also means that much of the code will already be in place, ready to be reused, for the idea I put forth in the CoV forum about running reconaissance drones from the supercomputer in your HQ.

The Way of the Corruptor (Arc ID 49834): Hey villains! Do something for yourself for a change--like twisting the elements to your will. All that's standing in your way are a few secret societies...and Champions of the four elements.
